I have noticed that when I am browsing my music, particularly particular songs in an album, I can't cycle through all the songs in that album. For example, if I browse to the album view, click on Adele's 21, and then click on Rolling in the Deep, it takes me to the media info view for Rolling in the Deep. Like I would expect, I can then click on the right arrow and it will take me to another song; however, it isn't the next track in the album. It takes me to Take It All instead of Rumour Has It. If I cycle on more time, it takes me to One and Only. I now can't cycle through any more songs. Those three are the only three that I can view. This is not the only album that this happens to. Every other album I have has a similar problem when I attempt to cycle through the songs. Is this happening for anybody else?

I'm not sure if I'm just not understanding how the Artist vs Album Artist views are supposed to work, or if there's a problem with the server or web client or maybe this just isn't fully implemented yet. In the iTunes terminology, the artists are specific to songs but not every artists is on every song on the album, thus the album artist is the "primary" artist that's on the album cover. Is that the same intent for MBS? Example. If I'm in Album Artists and click on Dr. Dre I'm immediately switched to the Artists "tab" up top and looking at Dr. Dre. However it shows Albums (2) | Songs (6). Clearly under that (2) are 11 albums?! If I then click songs (6) I see 1-16 of 16?! It looks like the () counts are accurate for the album artist, but all the results are for Dr. Dre as an artist (Eminem albums and songs).

I have a large music collection (600+GB) that is exhaustively organised with the following folder structure: ARTIST NAME - ALBUM NAME\Album Track Name.mp3 I would like to view my music in MBC in the same way, listed by folder structure. The only way I can see to do this would be to edit the metadata in thousands of folders to make sure the "sort by" field was the same as the Folder Name. Can anyone suggest a simpler way to do this? I'm sure I'm missing something basic? edit: spolling

Hi All - My Windows Media Audio Lossless (WMA) music CD rips are not playing on either the official or MBMC channel interfaces. FLAC play fine on both channels. Both are supported according to documentation for my Roku 3 with firmware 5.5. Roku Supported Media Is anyone else experiencing this? Thanks, Tanamur

Hi all, I recently re-taged a lot of my music genres since they were a mess and couldn't get Genre Cleaner to work (another issue, but not the reason for this post). SInce re-tagging, all my music shows up everywhere correctly except in MBC. The Music category will show recently added items just fine and I can enter into those, however, going into Music shows No Items. Music by Genre shows all the music correctly. I am using Chocolate 3.0.6.3 & Subdude 3.0.1.15 and both show the same thing. The dashboard shows everything as well. MBC 3.0.195.0 7-14.1 MBS 3.0.5309.26857 MBC log included MBClassic-2072014000a65710e21479a9e002adeb614c281.zip

I cannot access my music library in Media Centre. When I click on my media folder for music I get the error message Problem Loading Collection. The folders for movies and television programs open fine--but no music.

Just recently (didn't look into it until tonight, but I think I noticed something a couple days ago) the Artist "Weezer" suddenly got changed to "Raditude", which is a name of one of their albums. Now, looking at that in the metadata manager it looks like this. Now, when i try and go back and change it back, MBS keeps thinking it's an album, not an artist or album artist. I tried deleting all of the corresponding info in Windows explorer, but it still keeps it as Raditude. I'm looking right now for some related logs. Only seems to have happened to Weezer, as far as I can tell.

hi, new user of Mediabrowser Server. I'm looking for a way to have my music collection in order in XBMC, which is lacking of media managing for music... So far, i love MB, seems to be what i was looking for A few (newbie maybe) question that i can't find answer around, -> can't google images be added to the images sources ? -> switch automatic renaming landscape.jpg (seems to be MB default) to fanart.jpg (XBMC) many thanks !

I was trying to clean up the album artist folders for my collection. I noticed that some artists (Peter Gabriel; The Go-Betweens; The Gas; The Hollies; Puffy) have two artist entries that contain the same albums. There are also two folders (OST-Original Soundtrack & Various Artist Corp.) that don't seem to correspond to any music in my collection. Is there a way to deleted the duplicate and empty artist listings? I tried deleting from C:\Users\hp\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\ImagesByName\artists but that didn't work and in some cases I couldn't even find a folder for my artist. For instance, in my album artist folder I have two entries for Puffy but in the above folder there aren't any entries for Puffy at all--just one for PuffyAmiYumi, which is another name for the same duo but not one I'm using in my artist folder. There is also no entry at all for Peter Gabriel. There are some artists that have two entries in the roaming folder (77's & 77s) but only one in the album artist folder. Is there a way for me to clean up my album artist folder?

MBC Freezes When Playing Music Album, Genre Folders
gochiefs88842 posted a topic in Windows Media Center
First off, I have tried to dutifully research this issue on the forums. That being said, this is my first post, so please be gentle... My understanding is that the built-in music interface is meant to utilize WMC's player, which makes perfect sense. I have read that when hovering over a folder (such as an album) in MBC and then pressing "play," you should then see some form of pop-up that asks whether you want to play the entire album, shuffle, queue, etc. When pressing "play" (whether on harmony remote or WMC keyboard) while positioned on an album folder or genre folder, my MBC freezes and will not let me reverse my path; I am forced to logout of MBC altogether. My music plays with no issues when selecting a song directly. This issue does not occur on MBS (and the expected play menu appears as desired) or with the Android client. Thus, it appears to exclusively be a MBC issue. 1) How do I fix this behavior? (log attached) 2) Am I correct in assuming that music genre folders can be played (as in WMC's base interface) with options such as "play all" or "shuffle" or something to that effect? Thanks in advance for your assistance. MBClassic-672014bde2cfca201542a0ba25909c5bb09660.log -
Artists which match musicbrainz via 'identify' are not matched automatically.
ginjaninja posted a topic in General/Windows
Version 3.0.5289.18702 I have an estimate 200 artists with red exclamations on them, not associated to a music brainz id. not strange in itself, however their names and content match (non ambiguously) music brainz 100%. proven by the fact that when i click 'identify' in dashboard i get a single match on music brainz. should i expect a scan library task to match automatically? A refresh on artist, automatically matches. How do i force a refresh of all artists (not album artists)? i dont think that the affected artists are showing in the log after a scan library task. thanks -
MB3\Mysql fast for albums and movies, slow for artists and persons
ginjaninja posted a topic in General/Windows
Version 3.0.5289.18702 there seems to be a significant performance bottleneck with persons and artists views in the dashboard, and its not related to cpu or disk subsystem performance. perhaps the database is the constraint along with the query. (roku and android clients dont seem affected but then their views have more spurious entries) all my content is stored locally on 5400rpm hdds my.application /ibn is stored on SSD (across 2 partitions of same ssd) all my views are 500 large (500 for movies, albums, persons and artists) q6600, 4x3.2ghzcpu 6Gb ram win7sp1 if i click (in dashboard) (views configured 500 large) home - movies - movies....the 1st 500 movies are shown <1second home - movies - persons....it take 20seconds to show persons.. likewise albums <1s artist or album artists >20 seconds. It is 100% reproducible for me and make no difference how many times the query is run (ie same after all images are cached etc the cpu and hdds are not breaking a sweat when viewed in perfmon. 2014-07-06 11:45:56.0530 Debug - HttpServer: HTTP GET http://localhost:8096/mediabrowser/Artists/AlbumArtists?SortBy=SortName&SortOrder=Ascending&Recursive=true&Fields=DateCreated&StartIndex=0&ParentId=ad14e238b35e6a32a39d2ef9c1a779f3&Limit=500&userId=59543acb15f7ccd6012f4447c75b0cf2 2014-07-06 11:46:18.9273 Debug - HttpServer: HTTP Response 200 to [::1]:55920. Since the new look I can't get to my dts music on the server. I imagine it's driven by Tags but as my DTS Music collection is .wav there is no tags. Can a view by folder link be created?

Having a problem. I'm running latest server version 3.0.5289.18702 I have six music folders and in these folders their is a artist.xml and a folder.xml but when I go into the metadata manager for each one of these folders the external Id's do not show up and the Identify tab is not present. I have tried deleting the artist.xml and the folder.xml with no luck. Also under Image By Name folder, inside there is a artist folder and when I open the folder the same six artist folders I'm having problems with are there as well. I have tried deleting these folders and restart the server but they would always come back. I can't figure this out, any help would be appreciated. Added log file Like I said I'm only having problems with six music folders out of my whole collection. folder structure is set up correctly . Version 3.0.5271.29451 Is it intentional that the album artist 'Various Artists' as read from music tag '%album artist%' does not display under 'album artists' in dashboard and in clients eg roku under album artists; making it harder to find content under this album artist. The artist does show up under 'artists', and its entry when opened showing content where 'various artists' is not the value of the tag %artist%..This seems to be the wrong way around.

Server - 'Organisational' Folder Type Detection in Music Collections
ginjaninja posted a topic in Feature Requests
MB3 currently doesn't support the following folder structure... [\org{0, n}] [\artist\{0,1}] [\org {0,n}] \album where org=organisational subfolder {0,n}= zero to many instances []=optional Could such support be added, or alternatively could an xml tag/file be recognised by mb3 to treat organisational folders as organisational and NOT as artists/albumartists. eg M:\Music\Soundtracks\Blade Runner\Tracks.mp3 M:\Music\Soundtracks\Top Gun\Tracks.mp3 M:\Music\Soundtracks\Jungle Book\Tracks.mp3 Soundtracks is detected (shown in dashboard) as an albumartist and artist.xml is placed on filesystem thanks for considering. -
Hi community, I have one question regarding the media library structure for music. According to the wiki at the github project page the recommended way to organise music is: \Music \Artist Name \Album Name 1- Song.mp3 2- Song.mp3 But what's about albums with multiple artists like compilations or original soundtracks? What is the recommended way to organize those albums? If I create a folder for soundtracks and compilations mediabrowser detects those folders as artists! Regards, cyfreezer

Currently having an issue that I can't seem to figure out. I have an artist in my music folder with the structure: \Music Folder \Artist \Album 1 Song 1 etc \Album 2 \song 1 \etc In the metadata editor on the dashboard the name field for the artist is the name of one of the albums (can change between either if you clear the field and refresh), adding the artist ids in the relevant fields and refreshing does not correct this. Also there is no way to add album or artist ids to an album if you click on its name but you can if you click on a single track ? It seems the artist is being treated as an album as mb has dropped an album.xml in there but oddly when i had it refresh an album it dropped a folder.xml in there. I'm sure this is something I've done wrong but would appreciate a bit of help here. Server Version: 3.0.5238.39498 Client Version: Theater 3.0.5233.39319 Tracks are in FLAC format

Hello! Long-time HTPCer, but new it MB3. I setup my son as a user with a parental rating of Y-7. Movies and TV shows work fine, you can only see shows with a rating of Y-7 or less. But in music, while you can only play music I marked as Y-7, you can see all artists and albums. I'd rather not have him see Rob Zombie cover art for a few more years! A side effect of this is the small covers shown on the view button also pulls from all albums, while movies/tv only use ones he can watch. Since all his music his under genre Children, it would be nice to have the ability to limit by genre instead of rating. Then, I wouldn't need to a rating to all his songs. Thanks! Looking forward to learning the ins and outs of this program.

Does Media Browser support 'Artist, The' Filesystem Naming Convention
ginjaninja posted a topic in General/Windows
MB supported this convention originally, but doesn't seem to anymore. In the album artists view a band like 'The Smiths' stored in W:\Music\Smiths, The and with content tagged with artist and album artist 'The Smiths' shows up under album artists in dashboard as 'Smiths, The' with no content underneath. shows up under artists in dashboard as 'The Smiths' with content underneath. Has a local title of 'Smiths, The' in W:\Music\Smiths, The\Artist.xml ty reason why it would be useful for MB3 to support this filesystem format is that if you have 200 artists starting 'The' in W:\Music, it is harder to jump in list to the artist in Windows Explorer. FWIW the solution seems to be :- edit the Artist XML so that local title reads 'The Smiths' and then refresh. Delete the XML and it is recreated with local title 'Smiths, The' which is odd as the xml is fully populated with metadata about 'The Smiths' to all other intents and purposes. Maybe Music Folders ending ', The' could be given special treatment for their local title value when the xml is created? -
I have two albums by the dB's but I can't get them to show up in the artist's folder. I checked the tags to make sure the artist information matched the albums exactly. I removed the albums from my media folder several times, removed all XML files and removed the artist from the roaming folder, ran a media scan with no dB's present in the collection, added the albums back and ran a new scan but the albums never show up in the artist folder. I also added the musicbrainz artist code to the albums so it would match the code in the artist folder. Still zip. I'm assuming this has something to do with the unusual way the band name is spelled but I'm not sure what to do to get the albums to show up. Any suggestions?

Some of the albums in my music artist folders don't show up. I click on the artist and there will be a bio and picture but it shows no albums available even though there are one or more albums in the artist folder. Sometimes when I re-do the tags with MP3 tag the album will show up--other times it makes no difference and I still can't access the music through Media Browser. Is there something specific I need to do so my music files will show up where I want and I can play them?

I have several albums .flac encoded. Two of the albums have the following symptoms: 1) The album name is prepended with another version of the album name. 2) Each track is prepended with another version of the track name. 3) The album has an associated .cue and .m3u file 4) The prepended album name is the same as the TITLE in the .cue file 5) The prepended track name is the same as the corresponding TRACK TITLE in the .cue file I removed the .cue and .m3u files but the displayed values remain. Can someone please explain this to me? Where are the displayed values being derived from? Is there something I can do to resolve this display issue? Here are the associated .cue and .m3u files: "You aren't permitted to upload this kind of file" Here are some screen shots:

Just added my music collection. It seems B. B. King albums are not ok. There is no "B. B. King" as an album artist but there are two "B. B."s detected as album artists. I understand this artist name is commonly written "B.B. King" with no spaces between the "B."s. Anyway, it seems something went wrong with the scanning as both "B. B."s album artists have no records under them. Following is an image of the web interface: Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance,
