  1. I have a suggestion. While adding tags to music files, each user has his own way of doing and many times, although at user level the Album Artist and or Artist are appearing the same in Mp3tag, when we add the albums, more than one Album Artist or Artist are appearing in Emby. No matter how many times it is ensured that the same Artist and or Album Artist is ensured, this problem is persisting. Therefore, I request you to give a provision to merge same Album Artist or Artist at user level, so that any mistakes or hidden problems can be overcome. This provision is available in Plex. This will help in keeping the Emby look wonderful with just one Primary Image showing per Artist. I am attaching a screen shot where more than one album artist is added although I have ensured Album artist is same for all the files in Mp3tag. Kindly consider this suggestion.
  2. I was trying to clean up the album artist folders for my collection. I noticed that some artists (Peter Gabriel; The Go-Betweens; The Gas; The Hollies; Puffy) have two artist entries that contain the same albums. There are also two folders (OST-Original Soundtrack & Various Artist Corp.) that don't seem to correspond to any music in my collection. Is there a way to deleted the duplicate and empty artist listings? I tried deleting from C:\Users\hp\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\ImagesByName\artists but that didn't work and in some cases I couldn't even find a folder for my artist. For instance, in my album artist folder I have two entries for Puffy but in the above folder there aren't any entries for Puffy at all--just one for PuffyAmiYumi, which is another name for the same duo but not one I'm using in my artist folder. There is also no entry at all for Peter Gabriel. There are some artists that have two entries in the roaming folder (77's & 77s) but only one in the album artist folder. Is there a way for me to clean up my album artist folder?

    Music artists shown and linked

My wish for 2020 is that Emby for AndroidTV would have a screen where it displays all album artists and track artists for a given album/track and all these artists are hot linked so that I could navigate to their screen.

    Artist on "now playing" screen

The "now playing" screen on AndroidTV app currently shows one (the first on database?) track artist to the track being played. I understand it should present: - If "album artist" is listed on the track or there is no artist on the track > "album artist" - If "album artist" is not listed on the track > all "track artists" (this is my hint, but anyway current infi shown is just "one artist from the track")
  5. Hi, As far as I could conclude, Chromecast's now playing screen for music shows: - Album art on the lower left corner and fanart as the background - track title, first track's artist, album title Well, it seems to me this is kind of a bug: you see, when the track being played has more than one artist, just one is shown. Also, when track artist is not the album artist we end up with album artist not being displayed. It seems to me this info should be displayed like this: - When track artist equals to album artist: track title, track artist, album title - When track artist differs from ambum artist: track title, all track artists, album artist, album title What do you think about it?

No results on album artist search

Congrats for the 3.5 version. Original title search was really a blessing! It seems, though, that search is not including album artists. Thanks,
  7. Hi, I have just started using Emby, it is a fantastic project. I have a couple of questions: 1) I see that the Album Art embedded in my .mp3 files is getting resized, how do I stop that? Some of the images have been resized to 600x600, but some others have been resized to 200x200, which is way too small. I would like the full size, full quality image that I have embedded, always. For example: The album art resized to 600x600. The cover I embedded, which is 1200x1200. 2) Sometimes in the background of the music player I have the picture of the Album Artist. I did not choose this image, I do not like this, I would very much prefer to see the Album Art, or at least a solid color background. For example: Especially on mobile, this is a big, big issue for me. It would be extremely better with the Cover Art here instead of Howard Shore's face. 3) Is there a way to limit the bandwidth available for streaming music? I have tried the "Internet streaming bitrate limit (Mbps):", even if I set it to 0.25 it still uses all the bandwidht available, e.g.: I hit next song on a client (not on my local network), monitoring the speed on the server I see a a short spike to 20Mbps (my available upload bandwith) and that's it. Thank you for your time and help, please tell me If I need to provide more information!
  8. I do not know what Emby would suppose to do on this scenario but it seems there is something strange. I am running Emby Premiere 3.2.33.0. My music is tagged by MP3Tag. There is a music library and it contains a music album tagged such as there are two artists as "Album Artists": - Album name: First Time! The Count Meets the Duke - Album artist: Duke Ellington; Count Basie - Album genre: Jazz Emby displays this for the Jazz genre: And this seems to be ok as there are several jazz artists and albums. Then, when artists view is expanded, this is the screen I receive: And it tells me that there is a Jazz album with Duke/Count as the artists album. I think Emby should use a "/" between both names (as it shows on album detail - you will see below) but that is no problem to me. If I select just Duke Ellington this is the output: And I also think this is good cause Emby shows the target album. I think Emby should display both album artists (Duke/Count) below the thumbnail but this is not a big problem. And if I select just Count Basie instead of Duke, the target album is also shown: The main problem is when I select both of them. This leads me to this output: Reporting no tracks and a total time of 40minutes (rounding the actual 39:42 from the album) And then there is the album detail which seems to show correctly both the artists names as links to all their records. There is no means to go from this screen to other albums in which they worked toghether but there is the "/" between their names and it seems ok to me. This occurs on all albuns with two artists as "album artists". When I have more than two artists as album artists they are tagged as Various artists. So my problems are: 1) Double artists albums shown incorrectly on genre page (names below the thumb); 2) Double artists thumbnail on genre page leads to no album; 3) Double artists album detail has no means to get other albums by the same team. Are these errors?
  9. I can't seem to get changes to the Album Artist metadata to "Stick". When I edit the field to add another album artist, and press "Save" (in the web-based Metadata Manager), then after a second or two, the field changes back to its original entry. Other fields seem OK - edits will take effect. What am I doing wrong? (server 3.0.5675.1) Edit: it's definitely caused by the fact I'm trying to add multiple Album Artists. I thought that this field was planned to have multiple values?

    Artist vs Album Artist

Is there a way to get the Android TV app to use the ARTIST tag for browsing instead of the ALBUM ARTIST tag? This is a feature that works remarkably well on the web app, and on the Android phone/tablet apps. For some reason however, I am not able to get the Android TV app to allow browsing by the artist tag. I understand that for many casual listeners out there this may seem like a trivial matter, but for music buffs (or in my case....music junkies), the difference between using an artist tag vs album artist tag can be pretty huge; especially, if you listen to genres of music where collaborations are a way of life. Please forgive me if this matter has already been brought up elsewhere (I tried a search but couldn't find it). Right now I have a "test" server that I'm using to work out the kinks and learn the system before setting up the final deal. Thanks in advance if there's someone out there that can point in the right direction!
  11. This afternoon when I opened my Music Folder in Media Centre I found that 95% of my artists had no picture or metadata information even though every single artist had both the last time I listened to music through the Media Browser server. I initially thought there was something buggy about Media Centre, which is frequently the case, but it was the same in the other Roku channels and also in Media Browser/Music/Album Artists. I haven't updated or changed anything. I haven't added any new music in over a week. I haven't changed any settings. As far as I know there was no Media Browser server update over the past few days. What happened to all of my artist info? Why are there generic icons next to everything instead of photos and metadata? Joe Smart
  12. My Album artist view in dashboards shows invalid objects, namely, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s. I know they are invalid in MB3 terms as they have no content when viewed in dashboard (and a full scan has successfully completed) They are also invalid because MP3TAG confirms there is no such albumartist. in library explorer, using 60s as an example { "IsAccessedByName": false, "Tags": [ "indie", "indie rock", "ska", "alternative", "rock" ], "ProductionLocations": [ ], "IsFolder": true, "ContainingFolderPath": "\\\\Q6600\\Music\\Compilations\\Decades\\60s", "IsOwnedItem": false, "ThemeSongIds": [ ], "ThemeVideoIds": [ ], "IsPhysicalRoot": false, "IsRoot": false, "LinkedChildren": [ ], "ImageInfos": [ { "Path": "\\\\Q6600\\Music\\Compilations\\Decades\\60s\\Folder.jpg", "Type": "Primary", "DateModified": "2008-12-29T17:05:26.0000000Z" }, { "Path": "\\\\Q6600\\Music\\Compilations\\Decades\\60s\\backdrop.jpg", "Type": "Backdrop", "DateModified": "2014-02-24T15:58:50.1945572Z" } ], "IsInMixedFolder": false, "Name": "60s", "Id": "836b0a534e6699041ad35bd324efac16", "Path": "\\\\Q6600\\Music\\Compilations\\Decades\\60s", "SupportsLocalMetadata": true, "DateCreated": "2013-03-07T21:12:49.0000000Z", "DateModified": "2014-02-24T16:46:52.9704425Z", "DateLastSaved": "2014-02-24T15:58:50.1955572Z", "DontFetchMeta": false, "LockedFields": [ ], "PremiereDate": "2003-01-01T00:00:00.0000000Z", "DisplayMediaType": "MusicArtist", "Overview": "\n The Dead 60s formed in Liverpool, United Kingdom in 2003, they comprised of Matt McManamon (Vocals, Guitar), Ben Gordon (Guitar, Organ), Charlie Turner (Bass Guitar), Bryan Johnson (Drums). Note at some point mb3 created an artist.xml in the folder and matched to an mbz artist id. i since deleted the xml and rescanned. I guess mb3 is confused my by folder structure for compilations, maybe i need to ask for a feature request so i can put a .ignore file in my folder structure for music folders which neither represent artists or albums and are just organisational folders on the filesystem. Possibly mb3 is further confounded by the fact that these organisational folders have folder.jpgs in them. thank you.
  13. Server, version 3.0.5083.27698 running on a Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 machine. I have been testing out Mediabrowser 3 with a selection of different music tracks. There are a few problems I have come across relating to how Album Artists/Artists are handled. Both the Album Artist and Artist tags for tracks by "Weird Al" Yankovic are written as "Weird Al" Yankovic for each track. The artist folder that contains the album folders and metadata is written as 'Weird Al' Yankovic since " cannot be used in file and folder names in Windows. Both the Album Artist and Artist tags for tracks by AC/DC are written as AC/DC for each track. The artist folder that contains the album folders and metadata is written as AC-DC since / cannot be used in file and folder names in Windows. In the Album Artists view: 'Weird Al' Yankovic - The artist image is not shown and neither are the numbers of albums or songs. AC-DC - The numbers of albums and songs are not shown, but the artist image is. This indicates to me that the folder name is being used instead of the information in the Album Artist tags which is not ideal in situations where different characters are used like these. In the Artists View: AC - shows one extra album and one extra song AC/DC - does not include extra album or extra song DC - shows one extra album and one extra song (the extra album and song it refers to is a track from the Last Action Hero soundtrack which has Various Artists written in the Album Artist tag) This indicates to me that the / in the Album Artist/Artist tags are confusing things somehow as entries called AC and DC are being created even though they do not exist at all in the music collection. They still point to the AC/DC albums, with the addition of the Last Action Hero track, but in the case of the AC entry, it has filled in a artist thumbnail image and description. Additionally, an entry for Various Artists shows up in the Artists view even though it is only used in the Album Artist tags of tracks for certain albums. There are 2 tracks from the Batman Forever soundtrack album in my music collection for testing. Browsing to Various Artists from the Artists view shows two versions of the album. Each one goes to one of the tracks which are both by different artists. The album is also duplicated like this in the Albums view. The file and folder naming convention I use is: D:\Music\Album Artist\Album\Disc 1/2/etc (if more than one disc)\Track Title.mp3 All tracks are tagged with Title, Artist, Album, Genre, Year, Track Number, Album Artist and Disc Number (if more than one disc).
