This is currently for testing purposes only - use at your own risk Use on a test library before even attempting to use on your main server. Plugin For Albums in their own folders ! Emby doesnt seem to be able to do this correctly , every track gets the first ones scanned embedded image. Unless i am doing it wrong. ?? But doing it this way it makes absolutely no difference what the embeded images are or what emby does or doesnt do, you are in control. Use it with realtime scanning then you dont have to mess with embys metadata editor, only to loose all the settings if i have to redo anything. You can drop an artist image in the folder or a track Image (I use singles cover images for the tracks- i like them that way) and it just adds it when RTM picks up a change, or a refresh metadata happens. So the EXAMPLE album cover is the 1977 one but the track covers are all different Its a local Metadata Reader , so it scans the local directory when any metadata refresh happens or library scan happens. Set settings in Library Edit screen. It doesnt use embeded images, it looks for an image with the same name as the track name I dont think I ever publically posted it before??? - probably because I never officially finished it! I cannot remember but I think they can be in subfolders too. Anyway it scans the local directories for song track covers, album covers and artist images. - nothing embeded! (supports jpg/gif/png/bmp/webp/tiff) Album covers will be Poster.jpg Cover.jpg Front.jpg folder.jpg 1.jpg 0.jpg f.jpg filename-front.jpg filename-poster.jpg R-xxxxxxxxxxxx.jpg // this one is for directly downloaded discogs R- filename images Artists are the same but name can be hyponated, underscored etc, probably can be in a sub folder. Rod Stewart.jpg Rod-Stewart.jpg Rod_Stewart.jpg Song Tracks Must be the same as the mp3 filename, but with a different extension Album cover backdrops are also supported by the plugin *-backdrop*.jpg *-background*.jpg *-landscape*.jpg *-fanart*.jpg backdrop*.jpg background*.jpg landscape*.jpg fanart*.jpg As it assigns the local image, beware that if you remove the image in emby it will probably remove the image from the drive (I cannot exactly remember if it does or not). I know it just returns a result to emby, so it probably depends on your settings within emby. if you are on windows and want to extract your embeded album art you can create a batch file and use ffmpeg (copy them both to the album directory and run it) Batch file contents - for jpg extract from mp3s for %%f in (*.mp3) do ffmpeg.exe -i "%%f" -an -vcodec copy "%%~nf.jpg" Anyway you are welcome to try it (as always with my plugins - try at your own risk) If you do try it, create a test library first becuase I have not tested the Album backdrops work correctly! - they should... EDIT: I forgot to mention my file folder structure for MV: no artists sub folders, all media are in same master folder. Music Videos: Edit Metadata/Album field I have a ton of concerts on dvd or bluray, which, thanks to chapters, I cut music videos from (individual song vs whole show). I enter proper value in album field, as per 1st picture. Where else than Edit Metadata can the Album data be seen, used, view filtered, etc ? I was expecting to be able to sort and view by album when browsing library (2nd pic). I suggest adding album option to the rest of "sort by" In the media info page, the album info is displayed (3rd pic) but in plain text; I would have expected to be able to click the album link and get a page with all the MV from this album.

I'm working on setting up an Audio Book library and it is not pulling in the embedded metadata, specifically the images, correctly. When pulling in multiple books in one "Album", I would expect to see each book's individual cover. Instead I am seeing all books with the cover image of the first one. (Image: Wrong.png) I have found a workaround by removing the file's Album metadata tag (I use Mp3tag), loading the books into Emby, and then manually changing the Emby Album tag for each book. (Image: Right.png) However, this is a very tedious process with hundreds of audio books. Not to mention that if I accidentally hit "Refresh Metadata" or need to redo my Emby server for some reason, then it would take hours of work to get it back to where I want it. Thank you for looking into this.

Ciao! Dovrei vedere la cover dell'album come negli altri "Best Of" ma non accade. Che potrebbe essere? Ho controllato mille volte i metadati delle canzoni e aggiornato su Emby la libreria e i metadati ma nulla. E' l'unico album che mi da questo problema. Grazie in anticipo per l'aiuto.

Hello, i just started with Emby Server and added new Music Library with hundreds of songs. They are id tagged with track name, artist, album and genre. When library scan finish, genre and album section in library is empty. Is because genre are not standard like "POP" but personalized "POP1"? But the same happened to "album". Please help Thanks

Hi, I have looked around the forums but can't seem to find anything that fixes my problem (i apologise if I have missed something) I have an mp3 file that originally was scanned through Musicbrainz Picard, but I have recently tried running it through MP3Tag. I have removed the file from the folder, let emby scan, and then re-added, with no success, and even tried deleting the nfo file. As you can see from the screenshot below, the artist name is being displayed wrong (Syretta should be Syreeta), which affects searching. Hi Everybody, Can anybody help me figure out why some of my album artwork is not showing up in the Emby Media app? I don't rely on Emby Metadata Fetchers to get the album artwork, each of my music files has the album artwork embedded in the file itself. Most of the artwork is showing up, but about 5-10 out of every 100 albums (5-10%) is missing it's album cover. I was able to get a lot of them back by recopying the music files again to my new music location (server), overwriting the existing files with the one same files. However, I'm still missing about 2-3 out of 100 now. Thanks anybody/everybody! James

A method of sorting found in the web version Emby is not present in Emby Theater and it happens to be my absolute favorite method of sorting. Please add it. Although the Album feature exist it does not allow sorting by the Artist under Albums like the web version does. As you can see the sorting is by album title only and no way to switch sorting for the artist instead while still showing album covers.

Hi, First of all, I tried using newest Beta and newest Release. I've added a new Music library with 3 FLAC songs to Emby and refreshed the library multiple times. Now, it shows me all songs correctly. Well almost, see yourself: The third song, which I'm playing right now has the Artist tag "SYML; Lily Kershaw". It shows correctly on bottom, so where it shows what I'm playing. But on the Songs Overview it just shows "SYML". So that's the first problem. Now, when I click at the artist at bottom left, it opens the "SYML" artist overview. But never the artist overview of the other artist, it just doesn't exist. And yes, Emby recognizes her as an artist, see here: I also want to add that you can't open the specific artist Overview from the Artists tab, just from songs. And now comes the biggest problem. The SYML artist overview, which is the only one which exists, looks like this: I don't think it should be completely empty... Oh and I tried setting it up multiple times, and the first time I did it with Emby, it wasn't empty. But it put every single song from SYML into a single album, even though they all have different album tags. Here's the metadata of one file: It is correctly set in the metadata manager btw. I wanna swich from Plex to Emby because Plex doesn't support multiple Artists, but apparently Emby does. Developers here don't seem to be so ignorant to user feedback like Plex is, so I'm asking here if you could do anything about this problem. I've added the server log file if it helps. Hallo allerseits, ich habe begonnen meine mp3 Sammlung am emby Server abzuilden. Meine gesamte Sammlung wurde mit Hilfe von beets getaggt. Nach der Aufnahme der mp3's der Gruppe Aerosmith habe ich geprüft ob die Darstellung am Emby Server korrekt ist. even this is not something you typically see in music apps i would find this pretty useful to have visual feedback on what albums or tracks i've already listened to maybe i'm not alone

I have an album with 405 songs (all consecutively numbered). When I click on #1 and hit play, then go to the playing now list, it looks like this: I know about the arbitrary limit of playlist to 100 but when I click on 1, it should play through 100 no? Not 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, etc. I can work with 1-100, not this...ridiculousness.

I have a problem with Emby sorting my music. Multiple albums are lumped together as the same album. I have one album in particular, which supposedly contains 571 songs. In the artist view I also find artists with only two or three albums showing up when there should be 6 or 7. Before putting the music into the Emby library I went through and re-tagged all of the music I own to try to avoid this problem. I used a stand-alone music tagging program and checked album, artist, album artist, and one or two more categories. In many cases I also made the artist and album artist match (using a single "main" artist rather than listing all artists). For the multiple albums being lumped together issue (571 songs in one album), the music is all in a folder called "Christmas," but is stored in separate sub folders by 1) artist, then 2) album. The album titles are not the same. I tried Emby on a Windows computer and later on a Ubuntu Linux computer that is acting as a storage/multimedia server. Both versions had the same problem sorting my music. What suggestions do you have, and what additional information do you need?

HI All, I'm not sure that this is possible but I've noticed that 3rd party clients can notify Emby of new TV Episodes or Movies that need to be added to the library. This allows for the individual item to be scanned rather than a whole library refresh. Ideally having a Musicbrainz Release ID passed to the endpoint that will then only require the Album to be indexed rather than a full library update. Photo album/folder contains "folder.jpg" and/or "folder.png". Issue: 1. folder.jpg nor folder.png is displayed as album image 2. folder.jpg nor folder.png images are displayed as album member IMHO: At a minimum folder.jpg and folder.png images should be displayed within the album. Ideally, the folder.jpg/folder.png image should be displayed as the image for the album or a dynamically generated collage if no folder.jpg/folder.png is present. Thanks for your attention.

Would it be possible to use the Album Art rather than the BackDrop image in the current playing image?: The reason for this is that I'm more likely to have the Album Art for songs rather than Back Drop images, especially with more obscure artists. Would it also be possible to make the Artist and Album hyperlinks to the respective folders in the now playing screen?:

Server Version 3.0.5675.1 Browser Firefox 39.0 Zip files make traversing folder structure behave erratically. Recursive albums (folders) does not appear to be supported. For example: Family-> ........Immediate/ ...................Summer Vacations/ ...................................1990/ ...................................1991/ ........Cousin A/ ........Grandma/ In Album mode (top level folder) contents are flatten for display (i.e. contents of all sub-folders are displayed along with contents of top-level folder). Icon for sub-folders display name of parent folder. (This may go away if recursive album(folder) structure is handled differently than it is currently. Poster/Backdrop option is not present in all Photo views (i.e., Top-level and most sub-folders). In those views that do offer Poster/Backdrop option, selecting an option here changes that option in other Home videos views. There appear to be many other anomalies (mainly traversing the metadata) either due to recursive albums not being supported or misunderstanding on my part. Emby for Media Center appears to handle recursive albums as expected.

I cannot get my albums to show up in Kodi. Everything is visible in Emby, but only artists and songs will transition over to Kodi. I have tried a fresh install of Kodi and upgraded to "Isengard", nothing seems to help. Is this a known issue?

I wanted to ask if I am missing anything or if there are any updates coming to address the issue I am having with my music folder structure. I have several artists in my library. It is rare you will see a ton of songs from one artist. So I created mood (playlists) folders. This works great for me, as I can just play the folder according to my mood. The challenge I am having is it creates havoc with the server naming convention. The server will grab the first artist from the folder and group the entire folder under the name of that artist album. Instead of redoing my entire library and manually maintaining playlists, is there anything I am missing or any updates that will help this in the future? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

When i searched for (album) "reality bites", i got two hits. I couldnt distinguish which was film and which was soundtrack, but then it shouldnt matter as the resultant interface seems like it should? show all matches across categories but albums are missing from the resultant interface never mind i thought i'd just jump into albums starting R and find the album. but no the albums are not in alphabetical order and pressing * doesnt allow a change to the sort order. Can anyone else reproduce this with one of their albums?

Currently having an issue that I can't seem to figure out. I have an artist in my music folder with the structure: \Music Folder \Artist \Album 1 Song 1 etc \Album 2 \song 1 \etc In the metadata editor on the dashboard the name field for the artist is the name of one of the albums (can change between either if you clear the field and refresh), adding the artist ids in the relevant fields and refreshing does not correct this. Also there is no way to add album or artist ids to an album if you click on its name but you can if you click on a single track ? It seems the artist is being treated as an album as mb has dropped an album.xml in there but oddly when i had it refresh an album it dropped a folder.xml in there. I'm sure this is something I've done wrong but would appreciate a bit of help here. Server Version: 3.0.5238.39498 Client Version: Theater 3.0.5233.39319 Tracks are in FLAC format
