    Can't see server in VLC

Hi I have Emby 4.4.2.0 running alongside pihole on an installation of DietPi on a Raspberry Pi 3b+. Recently, I updated PiHole, the emby server and diet pi. Since then I have been unable to browse the DLNA server in VLC on my Windows 10 machine, which is what I've been doing to watch files the server can't transcode. I only want to access Emby on my local network, if that makes any difference.
  2. i hope there is a feature of resume playing over dlna server across any device like netflix but in dlna not in the app it self because it is existing on the app client but not over dlna.

    Xbox 360 DLNA Profile

Hello, i was wondering if there's a way to play media to a Xbox 360 that is not a AVI file? I'm aware that the Xbox 360 can play MP4 files, however the MP4 can not be a multi-channel file. In order for the Xbox to play the MP4 it has to have two channel audio. I'm trying to get Emby to, transcode the files to either a wma file, a multi-channel avi file or to a two channel mp4. So hopefully with all the great minds in this forum someone can help me with this???\ Thanks!!!!
  4. Hi Everyone Sorry if this has already been asked for before and exists, I have tried looking, but I could not find anything that made it work. I have Emby Server 4.4.2.0 installed on my shield, with media files stored on an external HDD that is not adopted storage (playback works perfectly on the shield). I have been trying to get the TV upstairs, which is a Panasonic GT30 Series TV (2011 model) to play my media files from the Shield through DLNA. I can connect to the Shield server on DNLA and view folders but I have not been able to get any of my media to play. I have 2 types of media with and without subtitles. Container Video Codec Audio Codec mp4 h.264 aac - no subtitles mkv mpeg2video ac3 - no subtitles mkv mpeg2video ac3 - DVD subtitles un-related to the shield set-up, I have managed to connect the TV through DLNA to a 3rd Party server on my laptop and play all of the media files perfectly on the TV, so I know the tv can play the media files through DLNA, with some Transcoding/re-muxing taking place on the Server. I used Mezzmo Server and selected the default Viera 2011 profile on that server. I was able to see that the input was mp4, h.264, aac and the output file that played was mpegts, h.264, ac3 input was mkv, mpeg2video, ac3 and the output file that played was mpeg, h.264, ac3 input was mkv, mpeg2video, ac3 and the output file that played was mpeg, h.264, ac3 with burnt in Subs I have attached the 2011 viera profile that I used in Mezzmo, is there anyway that someone could help me to put the information contained on that profile, into a workable profile on Emby, ideally with no subs being burnt in or displayed I have tried to do this myself but I do not really understand it and have not been able to make it work,I have tried many different profile settings and Custom profiles putting in the output files that worked as the transcoding targets in Emby, but I just can't get it to work. The Panasonic Profile on Emby does not seem to work for me. I really hope someone can help me with this, and thanks in advance to anyone reading this post and thinking about helping me, I know I could get a media streamer to solve this but I would prefer to get the correct details in a profile. Best DLNA profile for Samsung K series

Hi This is going to play most videos without transcoding , I made it in 2018 but I was lazy to share this! anyway it still works great. 1 download the profile Samsung Smart TV mod.xml 2 Move it to C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\config\dlna\user (xxxx=your name) 3- Go to dashboard > DLNA > profile make sure you can see the "Samsung Smart TV mod' on the top. 4- Restart emby Have fun!

  7. Hi all, My internet TV box ISP's has recently introduced a bug when playing mp4 format encoded by "mp4creator 1.6.1d" (other encoders are fine). Long story short, to fix this issue i want to transcode .mp4 files to another format. I tryed many templated, none of them worked. Always on direct play. Played also with DirectPlayProfile, TranscodingProfile, ContainerProfile & Conditions, CodecProfile & Condition, etc.. and i never try to transcode when playing .mp4 files through DLNA. DNLA is configured to match (successfully): DeviceDescription: FriendlyName:Freebox Player Manufacturer:Freebox SAS ManufacturerUrl:http://www.freebox.fr ModelDescription:Freebox UPnP Renderer ModelName:Freebox ModelNumber:6 ModelUrl:http://www.freebox.fr SerialNumber:0 On web browser everything is fine and transcoded. On the current FREEBOX.xml DLNA profile, you see that mp4 direct play profile is missing, so should trancode when playing one. But didn't. I have only 1 user configured and have all access to transcode / recode rights. emby version : 4.4.0.40 dlna version plugin : 1.0.37.0 See attached: -media metada of mp4 file working file -media metada of mp4 with issue -embyserver logs with dlna when playing mp4 file (with issue) -embyserver logs with web browser with no issue -my user DLNA config file "FREEBOX" I don't fully understand the use of "ProtocolInfo". Could you clarify what it is for and what needs to be added? Could you help? Thx & Greetings embyserver_via_webrowser.txt meta_mp4_ok.txt meta_mp4_nok.txt embyserver_no_transcode_dnla.txt FREEBOX.xml

DLNA cast to Naim Unity Atoms don't work

Hello, First thank you for the great work done in Emby. I wrote this post about a problem I have when I cast music to my Naim Unit Atom amplifier in the WebUI. If I play an album there is a few problems : No play bottom bar appea Only the first track is played When I click on the cast button on the upper right, and select "Control", in the new screen nothing appear (only the main controls) I can't control the volume I attach the log file with DLNA Debug info check in server parameters (server restarted), but there is nothing relevant I think (a UPnPError with Transition not available only), do I check the wrong file ? Note that DLNA works fine in WebUI for an another system of the same brand (a Naim MuSo). And note that problem is the same with DLNA in the Android App but Goggle Cast work. Notice that for all my DLNA hardware, volume control have a lot of lag and is very difficult to control with the slider not accurate. But it's an another problem... I have by a lifetime subscription because I love Emby, I think the team make a great job and I want to support the new developments. DLNA control is for me, one of the most import feature and I hope I can help to solve the problem with my hardware. Thank you in advance for your help. PS: I'm an confirmed C# developer so you can use advanced technical language if it's help PS2: Sorry for my english... embyserver.txt
  9. Hello, When I play videos over DLNA on my TV, library playback settings (see below screenshot), are ignored. And all videos appear in "Continue Watching" list, unless you watch it to the very end. This functionality works correctly, if you watch it in web browser on PC. Is there any logical explanation to this behavior? Emby server version is: 4.3.1.0 DLNA plugin version is: 1.0.33.0. Thanks, Aleksey.

    DLNA Howto

Is there a Howto that explains config of DLNA devices? I do have 4 Yamaha speakers (WX-010/030) on my network. Same network where emby server is located. I can ping the speakers and can also acess them through the web, but I don't see them in emby. Thanks for you help. Wolfgang

    DLNA and 401 http status

Hi. I trying to use dlna for emby, but I got errors in all devices. I see in logs the next exception: 2019-12-02 14:26:21.647 Error HttpServer: Access token is invalid or expired. I have 2 users: one with a password and one without it. But I can't log in user in dlna How I can disable authorization for dlna profile? I trying to set user without a password, but the same. 401 exception after reading file. Version emby: 4.3.0.30
  12. Hello everybody. Recently I have moved my Emby server from local install on DietPi (Emby version was 4.2.0.40) to Docker (Emby version is 4.3.0.26 now). After this change, I cannot pause video, fast forward, rewind or continue watching. Before the switch to docker the functionality was present. I am using Samsung TV to open Emby over DLNA. Does anybody have an idea why this is happened and how to fix it? I have tried to run Emby in Docker with host network and with bridged network options. Result is the same. Thanks, Aleks.
  13. So, I am now a paid member of Emby! Got the LiveTV abd DVR working with my HD-HOMERUN tuner and a shiny antenna picking up three "Over The Air" channels, with a TV guide to boot! Love it! When we playback our recorded TV shows on the newer Samsung TV, the audio and video are badly out of sync. I searched the forum for this issue in DLNA but didn't find one. I'm guessing I need to tweak my transcoding profile for Samsung, so if someone can offer some advice that would be great. The same TV show will play fine on my PS3 via DLNA. A bit of system info: Emby Version 4.2.1.0 FreeBSD version 11.3-RELEASE-p3 Samsung - 1st gen Tizen OS I think it is. HD Homerun is not transcoding and file output is mpegts

DLNA: Can not Play to TV

Hi @@All, im trying out Emby Server on my Synology. The installation was straight forward, no problems. But i get an error when i try to play a video on my LG-TV. It does not work from Emby-Web and not from android, but instead of from the TV self or BubbleUPnP it works. Then i get folling error in the server log. May be someone has a idee for me. 16. Just like the title and my question recently, having this option would be great from a privacy standpoint. You can see this feature in the basic Synology Media server where you can specify witch devices are allowed to view your DLNA server. Hope you guys want it too Thanks!
  17. Hello, If someone is kind, is there a way to prevent/limit devices (eg:windows laptop) that can discover/browse Emby server library? (without disabling DLNA that I use on the TV) Synology Media Server (in it's 3options:) has the ability to limit discovery to just one device. (or if you have any other solutions) Much appreciated, Thank you!
  18. Another reason to have an actual folder view : I have just installed emby on a FreeNAS and all was going well until I played a movie on my Samsung ua82nu8000 via dlna. Because all my movies now show up as if they're all in 1 folder instead of their own individual folders my TV starts playing the next movie as soon a 1 finishes, then the next, then the next. There's no way to turn this behaviour off on the TV... Do I have any options via emby dlna? Installing the TV app is NOT happening as all I want is a list of folders/files, no meta, no posters, just a simple list of folders with individual movie files in each.

    Next episode not playing

Hi there, I'm experiencing some issues when watching a series on my LG BluRay-Player via DLNA. It often happens that playback of the next episode doesn't start. I nearly always have to start the first next episode manually on my Android tablet. All following epsiodes (second, third,...) will then start playback automatically. Watching series on that tablet or on my PC via browser works fine with automatic playback of the next episodes. I couldn't find a particular log to provide but I will share as much information as needed. Emby Server 4.2.0.40 on Ubuntu Server 18.04.2 LTS Emby for Android 3.0.68 LG BP620 BluRay-Player All connected via 1Gbits Ethernet Thanks for help :-)
  20. Hi, I'm trying to connect to my Emby server with my Samsung UE32H5500. Tried using the DLNA function of the tv to find the server. But that doesn't work. (DLNA is enabled in the dashboard.) As in, the server doen't show up. I also tried clicking the stream icon while in the browse libary function of Emby. Thart works although no subs show. While if I stream diretly from the browser they do. Any suggestions? Jordi
  21. Hi there, I've been enjoying mostly trouble free emby usage for a year or two now. I've been using the "Play To"-feature a lot because of it's convenience, but since I received a Philips 32PFS5803/12 as a gift the other day I've been struggling with it. Hoping I can get some help here in figuring out what's wrong. Some info: - "Play To" works fine on other devices in my home. - I'm able to play media on the Philips TV using BubbleUPNP and MiniDLNA server, but not BubbleUPNP and emby DLNA server. - I'm able to browse the MiniDLNA-server (used same hardware for this as the one emby is running on) and play media from it using the Philips TV UI. - I'm not able to browse the emby DLNA-server and play media from it using the Philips TV UI (the TV froze at one attempt, and I had to yank the cable). - I've made a "first attempt" DLNA Profile for the Philips TV, which I'm attaching, but it also does not work with the default profile. I've attached some logs that might help. I did the following: 1) Start tcpdump of all traffic to/from 192.168.1.44 (Philips TV) 2) Restart the emby server (HAL9000 / 192.168.1.100) 3) Boot the TV up. 4) Select "Play To" Philips 32PFS5803/12 on my Laptop (192.168.1.21) 5) Hit "Play" at about "10:38:00" 6) Observe a "loading circle" on the TV for .5 secs before black screen and then nothing. Sorry for the superfluous DLNA traffic from a emulated Windows guest machine (192.168.1.22) in the logs. It is running on the same hardware as emby, and got caught in the tcpdump I ran on the host machine since they share a common NIC. I didn't notice it until afterwards. Also it was silly of me to attempt to play a media file that had to be transcoded for this, but the same happens with files the TV can play directly. The "dmr.xml" I've attached I pulled from the TV, I don't know if that's any help. I can post a log of a working session with MiniDLNA to the same Philips TV if that is helpful at all.. I'm not familiar with these protocols. dmr.xml embyserver.log.txt Philips Smart TV.xml tcpdump.txt
  22. Hi All, I'm new to Emby Server and am running a test/evaluation before migrating all my server media over to a new platform. The crux of the issue is I have Emby v4.0.2.0 installed and running fine and can access the media via DLNA from an oldish Sony TV across a cabled local network but am unable to access it from the Humax Device. Background: I have a Humax PVR-5000T (IP: 10.10.10.103) which can access a copy of my test media on a Server (Win 7 x64, IP: 10.10.10.10) via DLNA through WMP12 Windows Media Player Sharing Service and play an MP3 successfully. The Humax can detect the Emby Server via DLNA running on the same physical box as it appears in the list on the Humax above the WMP Server but when accessed, the Humax does not find any media or see any folders. At the same time, I can see both DLNA servers present and correctly functioning when browsed from the Sony TV (10.10.10.102). My test files are MP3's to eliminate format/container issues as WMP12, Sony TV & Humax can all normally see and play MP3's. I intend to play all files in their native format with no Transcoding or Direct Play needed. Testing: I have researched a bit and implemented DLNA Profiles as the default profile does not work for the Humax and enabled Debug Logging. From the logs I can see that I have successfully been able to differentiate the 3 devices that may access Emby via DLNA using the "FriendlyName" & "HttpHeaderInfo" strings in individual DLNA User Profiles. For the Sony TV I simply copied one of the Sony Bravia System Profiles and it basically works with the only issue being that not all the MP3's album art is showing despite it being present inside the MP3's and a folder.jpg present in the same windows folder. However, the Sony TV can see all the test media, browse it and play it. For the Humax, I have tried copying every single one of the System Profiles in case one would work as it is obviously ok with WMP12 as a DLNA server and many of the System Profiles appear to emulate that in some way. None of them worked. The error message on the Humax doesn't change but it is a quite generic "No media found". Each time the logs show it was identified correctly via the HTTP Header User-Agent value of "Posix" and the logs show the response as "200" but nothing is displayed. Each time I change a DLNA Profile, I have restarted the Emby Server Application as it isn't picked up until then. I have uploaded the bit of the log where the Humax interacts with Emby and that's all there is each time (Emby Log.txt). For the WMP12 Client accessing via DLNA, it again has its own User Profile and is picked up correctly in the logs. It can see and browse all the media and folders ok but interestingly all the MP3's have a small blue "i" icon stating that they are an unrecognised file type and won't play them. An example of the "File Location" of an MP3 viewed from WMP is: http://10.10.10.10:8096/audio/201/stream?DeviceProfileId=9c183db3e31f2f6e2be46c6b25825a8a&DeviceId=743b37ee3c0b67f258d356b6974a9dba&MediaSourceId=5d3a856ecb1fe6089beb85595d428999&WMContentFeatures=DLNA.ORG_OP=10;DLNA.ORG_CI=1;DLNA.ORG_FLAGS=01D00000000000000000000000000000&WMHME=1&WMQ=1&WMHMETitle=TgBvAHQAIABXAGgAZQByAGUAIABJAHQAJwBzACAAQQB0AA== I guess this is why it doesn't recognise the MP3's in WMP so I wonder if this is also occurring with the Humax and maybe why it doesn't find any media? I am stuck as to how to investigate further so am hoping one of you will be able to assist me? I have also attached the 3 User Profiles xml files in case they are of use. Many thanks, Nick Emby Log.txt Bravia KDL-46X4500.xml Humax FVP-5000T.xml WMP 12.0.xml

DS 218+ Emby 4.0.2.0 DLNA Problems

Hey, i got a Problem using DLNA with latest Emby Server for DSM on my 218+. I got a LG TV and the TV cant find the DLNA Server (i should select/see it through the Input Section). But on my devices i can select the TV for DLNA Play to. So for the server the TV is visible but the TV itself cant reach Emby through DLNA. If i select a media source and want to play it through DLNA Play to simply nothing happens. i got another machine with emby which i powered up and through this one everything is working well (simple NUC with Ubuntu and Emby) ------ SOLUTION ------- Cut off my Repeater as the TV was on cable connected to it. If i let the TV Connect straight via WIFI to my router everything is working again. i think somehow it interrupted the communication..

mkv files and some mp4 files seen as mpg

put together a new freenas (11.2)...installed emby...and, everyting is working fine except for majority (approx. 98%) of my mkv files being seen and played back as mpg files. along with the mkv files, not all, but some of my mp4 files are being treated/seen as mpg files. now playing videos via the webapp is fine, and it's not my concern. however, playing thru DLNA is a different story. any ideas as what i can do to alleviate this issue. i mean, i had it on my old build, too, but never really tried to solve this problem. now, i need to because the samsung emby is giving me an error (this will be another post so i'm not gonna focus it on here). i have an anime file: [FFF] Hagure Yuusha no Estetica - 01 [bD][1080p-FLAC][73F7748E].mkv. when i look and play this file on my samsung tv, it sees it as an mpg file; and, i assume, emby transcode it as such to the tv. any help and reply is greatly appreciated. thank you!
  25. Samsung TV can't find Emby server v 4.0.1.0 Tryed running VLC on PC as a DLNA client for testing purposes. It finds Emby but no media is found under Emby server. Worked on version 3. Any configuration should be edited/changed?
