    Plugin installation Failures on DS920+

    Hey all, I have just installed the new 4.5.1.0 update and still have installation failures on plugins. Synology DS920+ Any ideas? Or is this something that is still being looked at. Thanks 😊

    Missing metadata settings

    Hey all, I've noticed in the latest 4.5.1.0 release on my synology DS920+ there are no metadata settings in the library. I have tried removing and readding but there are no metadata settings and none of the movies are being recognised. I've posted 2 screenshot below, 1 from my windows setup showing the settings and 1 from synology showing the missing settings. Anyone else getting this?
  3. First of all I love all the work that has been done for this great product and I’ve been using Emby for 2 months without a hitch. However, yesterday I noticed Emby server was only sending stereo audio to my chromecast where surround sound with a range of different transcoded codecs always worked before. I could not find an easy fix, I had the feeling it was ffmpeg related but no errors occurred and software I believe was not updated. However, the Emby logs said it was sending out a stereo signal. I reinstalled Emby Server and everything works except when Emby is casting, the chromecast freezes (loading circle) when I play a movie. I tried a range of files with different audio codecs and containers, AC3, AAC stereo, DTS, Dolby, DTS-HD etc. It keeps freezing What works: Other apps cast fine to the chromecast including surround sound. Casting is initialised by Emby through the android app and the item metadata appears on the casted screen. Emby server plays the items perfectly on my android phone or Mac laptop. Everything worked perfectly until some change somewhere this week. What doesn't work: Once I press play the chromecast shows the circle loading icon over the Emby interface and nothing happens. Hardware/Software: - Chromecast, Firmware 1.42.172094 - Synology DS418play, DSM 6.2.3-25426 - Emby Server (4.4.3) - Emby Client Android (3.1.23) - Marantz SR6006 I believe it has something to do with ffmpeg but don't know why this would just change from one day to another.     Seasons Image Issue

    Hi Team, I have noticed a small issue happening with some of my anime tv series season images. What is happening is the season image appears with 2 side black pillars, and a smaller season image preview. If I try to edit this image it shows up with a blank selection asking me to upload an image. See attached images. I have tried to refresh the metadata, deleted/re-added but the same issue comes back. I'm not using the anime plugin, everything is running standard stock plugins. This is only happening to selected anime shows, not all of them. The issue is not replicated in my normal tv shows library, only the anime library. Is there a way to fix this issue? Details: Synology NAS DS920+ Emby Server Version 4.4.3.0

I run into some problems regarding missing library. after I uninstall Emby, and install it again on my synology NAS all my library is gone, and im also not able to add them again. it says the path could not be found. I can also not log in to my server using the web. anyone who have similar issues...???

    Few questions | New to emby

    Hello everyone I used plex for quite a while now, but want to switch to a different solution and emby looks really promising. Does emby work completely offline after install ? I already read that it requires to validate your subscription every few weeks but besides that? Like on plex i had the problem when i disconnect my Router from the internet, the menu (mainly the pictures from actores and covers) vanish or are displayed wrong. So are the artworks and covers stored localy or accessed everytime through the internet. Is the subscription server or client based? So if i buy lifetime for my emby account does everyone on the server (all offline accounts) can use the pro features or only I when i watch via my account? Thanks for reading :)

    Next Up Duplicate Episodes

    Hi Team, I just started watching Star Trek Lower Decks and noticed my Next Up episode is doubling up the show, showing 2 icons for the same episode coming up next. I have only noticed this on this tv show and don't know if I have done something wrong. I marked episode 2 as played but the same happens to episode 3. I also checked the folder and there are no duplicates there, only 1 folder. Just wondering how I can fix this?

    Sign In Error

    Hi All, HEEEEEEELP is very much needed. I cant sign in to my server, either on my synology or by using web. I think something got messed up with username and password. I also cant connect the emby txt file after using " forgotten password" Is there a way to reset all without having any access...???

I'm pleased to say that this work is now rolled up into the stable Synology/XPEnology package releases from 3.1.2.0-1.     Performance Improvements

    I'm using EmbyServer on my Synology (DS1815+ with 6GB RAM ). So far so good. But my database is getting bigger as time progresses. I was wondering if I can improve the performance. Just opening "Home screen" on one of my devices takes a long time. One tip once mentioned is placing the db on a SSD. My library.db is 261.452 KB For my synology I was thinking placing this on an external usb stick. When looking through the folders I saw all the data in the folder /volume1/@appstore/EmbyServer/var/data/. Is it wise and will it improve the performace if I place this folder with a symlink on an usb stick?? Thnx
  13. Hello everyone, I'm a new emby user since a week or two. But there is a problem that keeps occuring. When a streamed a video to my chromecast it showed subtitles, but this was only the first day. Now when I try to stream the same movie (or other) it doesn't show any subtitles. When I pauze the video on mobile when it shows a subtitle and than stream it, it will show that sentence for a split second and nothing after. Context: - I run my emby server on a synology - I use opensubtitles as automatic source - self added subtitles are having the correct naming (showed at the ? in emby) - I have searched the forum but didn't come across some solution Thanks for helping.

    Emby Server on Synology

    Hi there, When encountering MediaBrowser last week i got very enthusiastic, when searching for the compatibility with a Synology NAS i didn't find much to go on. So i tried installing it myself, and so far so good i can start the server but there is one module error which causes a error during the service start up (it does start anyway). I was able (after the first run) to set my configuration (library, etc.). Also the library scan did something. I attached the complete console output to this post. My guess is that the libwebp module is not working properly and causes the crash when the web interface needs to show images. I also tested the connection with a mobile client (ios) to the server, it does connect, it shows library items but when i try to play a tv show the app does try to play the video but it only shows a black screen with the control buttons. Video isn't starting. I hope someone is willing to help with the above so we can get MediaBrowser to run properly on a Synology.   15. Apologies for the rather long post, but I wanted to try and present all the relevant details as far as I've been able to tell... I'm encountering a persistent issue in the recordings Emby server on my Synology NAS makes. Specifically, in a number of cases the recorded video file, at some point within its duration (no pattern as far as I can tell), will show some corruption for a brief period - anything from virtually instantaneous to on/off over a few seconds - following which the audio will be significantly out of sync with the video (more than 2-3 secs, probably even >10 secs in some cases)... this then persists for the remainder of the recording. This has been occuring for quite a while, through multiple Emby server versions - almost certainly back to before v4. The issue only affects HD channels (I have OTA Freeview in the UK, so these are all H.264/AAC full HD DVB-T2 streams) - I've never seen it happen to an SD channel recording (MPEG2/mp2 576p DVB-T). Even within that, there's a dramatic difference between the HD channels themselves... the issue impacts: - approx. 60-65% of all BBC One HD recordings (>30 tested) - approx. 55% of all BBC Two HD recordings (>15 tested) - approx. 25% of all BBC Four HD recordings (>25 tested) I had thought it wasn't impacting any recordings at all from ITV HD, Channel 4 HD or Channel 5 HD (20 tested in total) - but then yesterday I had it happen to a Channel 4 HD recording for the first time (that I can remember / since I started taking notes). Note: it is very definitely a server-side issue and not a client payback one - the problem exists regardless of whether playing back through Emby, Plex, Kodi, or just using VLC or another media player on a PC to directly play the recorded .ts file - though sometimes the problem exhibits as a complete loss of audio rather than just being many seconds out of sync. Based on my observations and troubleshooting so far, I have reached the following tentative conclusions: #1. It does *not* seem to be a signal/aerial/tuner issue Since I had previously been using Plex as my DVR solution, until they royally messed up their EPG in the UK (& I've now come to appreciate a number of other Emby advantages!), I still had/have many programmes being simultaneously recorded through Plex as well as through Emby. These record using the exact same setup as Emby: a single rooftop aerial feed into an amplifying 4-way splitter, 3 of which feed into HDHomeRun Connect tuners connected to the same gigabit switch as the NAS is connected to. I have never had the issue occur with any of the Plex recordings, so the actual broadcast signal does not exhibit the problem. To check that it wasn't a problem with a particular one of the tuner devices, or the short aerial lead between that and the splitter, I switched around so that Emby recorded using the tuners previously used by Plex and vice versa - Emby continued to have the problem while Plex's recordings remained perfect. #2. It seems to be specific to the Synology version of Emby server Since the problem was only impacting Emby and not Plex, I installed a second Emby server as a test, on a very old Windows PC I'd stopped using but not yet thrown out. Again, this records from the same HDHomeRun tuners as the NAS-based Emby & Plex. So far, I have not encountered a single occurrence of the issue. As a further test (after reinstalling the main Emby server on the NAS, per #3 below), I also installed a third Emby instance using the Docker container image (running on the NAS, and again using the same tuners, etc.). While the sample set of tested recordings from this instance is probably still only around 10 total, none of them have exhibited the issue even though some of those programmes *have* had the problem in the parallel recording by the main Synology-package Emby server. #3. It doesn't seem to be due to a corrupted Emby installation Since the PC-based test Emby server showed no problems, I thought it might just be some kind of corruption in the Emby server installation on the NAS - which has by now been upgraded through multiple versions. I therefore removed the Emby package entirely and then re-installed it (after rebooting the NAS) and restored the server config using the backup plugin* Unfortunately, this seems to have had no effect and the issue continues as before. #4. It may have some relation to broadcast TS streams without timestamps? While recently developing a post-processing script to re-mux DVR recording files from .ts into .mkv format, to get lag-free skipping when playing back via my Nvidia Shield, a significant number of files can't be converted using ffmpeg as it complains about "Timestamps are unset in a packet for stream 0" and "Can't write packet with unknown timestamp". Interestingly, this seems to be the case only for recordings from those HD channels that are impacted by the AV sync issue (though ffmpeg fails whether the recording is impacted or perfectly OK) - plus I did see the same ffmpeg errors trying to convert the one Channel 4 HD recording yesterday that exhibited the AV sync issue. Unfortunately, while I can see how the absence of timestamps might play a part in continuing the huge audio sync issue following some slight corruption, I'm not sure if it helps explain why Synology-Emby has this recording problem when none of Windows-Emby, Docker-Emby or Plex do? Can anyone help with a suggestion as to any of: what the problem might be?, a potential resolution?, or what else I might do to further diagnose the issue? Would it be worth me finding the time to completely remove & reinstall the Emby package once again, but this time manually recreate the entire configuration rather than using the backup plugin? * BTW: major kudos on the excellent server config backup plugin - it only needs the addition of restoring series & recording schedules to make it virtually perfect! (Series especially, since it's not just an annoying effort to have to recreate them, but it's simply impossible to recreate any series schedule when that show is currently between seasons and so not in the guide.)

    ANSWERED Trouble playing media

    Hi, I'm having trouble playing media from my Synology DS218+ NAS, but only certain videos and only on my desktop computer. The same files works without a hitch on my iPad and my Android phone. The server is available for browsing, just not playback. I've tried in the latest Chrome and Firefox. Strangely the only media that doesn't want to play is The Walking Dead season 10, previous seasons have worked fine. So it looks like there is some problem with those specific files, but that doesn't explain why they work on the other devices. The files are .mkv. To complicate matters I can't access the server log. When going to /logs I get the following error message "Unable to find the specified file." I'm unable to get the logs via my Synology since the Emby Server menu item only links to the Emby server URL. I'm using port forwarding to access my server from the outside, and I've changed the default port to avoid the server being obvious. No problems reaching it from other devices, but when going to the same URL on the desktop it is not available, I have to reach it by going to the 192.168.1.x IP address. The same problem occurs whether or not I use a VPN. Related? Still this doesn't explain why certain media works and others not. /K

    ANSWERED Compatible Stream Unavailable

    I get an error on every movie except 1 when I try to play it. Tells me there are no compatible streams available. Since I am the ONLY user on the system and am using it locally, not sure what to do. I have only uploaded a small number of my movies to test this and only one works. I am completely new to Emby and was giving it a try versus DS Video. Not sure what to do next. I have attached current embysrvr.txt 20200525-embyserver.txt
  19. Hello Guys, @@SamES I recently switch from Kodi (and previously Plex) to Emby when I bought a new LG OLED65C9 smart TV. With my old Full HD TV, I used Kodi only to watch 720p or 1080p movies. Now, As you can imagine, I tried to watch 4K movies with the new TV. Here is my config : Synology NAS DS215j connected directly to my router with RJ45 Emby Server package installed in my NAS (Version 4.4.2.0) Smart TV connected with RJ45 to a 100 Mb switch wich is conneted to my router via CPL. Emby client is the Emby App available in LG WebOS. I Have no problem watching 720p or 1080p movies. Everything works perfectly. But, with each 4K movies I tried to watch, I have always the same issue : I have a black screen on my TV, and my NAS is completely frozen. I can't do anything on it. Before launching playback, NAS usage is approximatively 15% Proc, and 50 - 60% RAM. When I try to play the video, NAS usage is 30% proc and 90% RAM. I am forced to turn off my NAS directly from the physical button, and then turn on again. I know this is an old NAS, with poor capabilities, but is there any way to play 4K movies with this config ? By the way, I also tried the same movies with Plex, and have pretty much the same issue (NAS frozen), even if I have some images from time to time (2 seconds playback and then several minutes of buffering). Note : the same movie is perfectly played if plugged directly in the TV from a USB Drive. I attached my Emby Server logs in case it can help.   20. Hi I am new to emby. I just installed emby on my Synology ds718+. I started the Emby server, added movies and tv shows. the problem is the hard drives are constantly reading, even when scrolling through the settings. I shut off real time monitoring, like I found here in the forums, but it did not make a difference, the drives still constantly are reading. This also happens when remotely accessing the Emby server. When I shut down Emby the Synology drives go back to normal, and stop the constant reading. I use Apple TV in home to watch my movies on emby. I was thinking of changing from Plex but if this issue can't be stopped I will stay with Plex for now. Thanks in advanced

  22. Hi there, Making transition from Plex to Emby and last thing to get working properly is the Music. I tried a number of times to get it to scape my 40GB+ of music, which is already correctly tagged and has NFO files for artists etc. I thought it was the size of the library causing issues, but just created a new share and only copied the ABBA folder across, which contains nine albums, which have come up as five separate Album Artists when they are one and the same. I've also attached a tagscan image which proves that they are all correctly tagged media, specifically the Album Artist entry. Any help would be much appreciated.
  23. Hi all! I installed Emby earlier today and so far so good. I tested it on my browser and everything looked ok. Found some guides and some topics here on the forum and so far so good! Buuut... When testing it from the app on my LG TV, I found an issue with the subtitles. While I can select the subtitles, nothing shows up. I also tested it from a browser in my iOS device and had the same issue, but when I go back to my PC and test it again, the subtitles show. Any ideas? I am running Version 4.3.1.0 on a Synology DS218+, and I get no error messages unfortunately, the video plays but without the subtitles. Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi everyone, I am new to the subject and at the moment Emby Connect does not work for me, locally I have no problems, it is worth mentioning that administering the server remotely is not of my interest, I just want my girlfriend to connect and see the content from her House. I have a Huawei HG8245H modem from my Totalplay internet provider in Mexico to which I entered and went to the Port Forwarding section and opened port 8096 with the TCP protocol choosing the IP of my Linksys WRT32X router as internal Host, hence I went to the settings From my router and in Port Forwarding I chose the IP of my Synology NAS and also port 8096 with the TCP protocol. I validate my public IP for remote access (WAN) and it is the same that appears in the Emby Control Panel, when trying to connect from another network, the page is loading and as the minute indicates that you can not set the connection, I also tried from the Android application on my cell phone using mobile data, I login with the Emby Connect user but I also see Connection Failure. In the Network configurations in Emby I have enabled “Allow remote connections to this Emby Server” and “Enable automatic port mapping." The user who creates for my girlfriend in Emby has his Emby Connect account added. Do I need to perform any additional configuration on the Synology Modem, Router or NAS? I enclose captures with the details of the configurations that I mention, I remain attentive to your comments, best regards. @@Dibbes
  25. I'm trying to get NextPVR working for a unified PVR between Emby and Kodi, but running into some issues getting Emby to connect to NextPVR. For starters, I have disabled the built in Emby Live TV settings by removing all TV Sources, then installing the NextPVR plugin, v3.3.3.0. Emby is at v4.3.0.30. I have Emby running on a Synology DS1818+, and NextPVR is also running on the Synology as a Docker container with host networking, so it's all on the same IP, 192.168.86.2. I can access NextPVR from a browser and on Kodi 18.5 running on a Shield. Trying the most basic things first, I went into the "Next Pvr Recordings" section and it comes up empty. There is at least one recording, visible from the NextPVR web interface and Kodi. I've tried http://localhost:8866 as well as http://127.0.0.1:8866 and the IP address it's running on, http://192.168.86.2:8866 . As I mentioned, Emby is also running on the same Synology NAS, so I'm wondering if it's something with everything running there. Anyone have any suggestions? I'd love to have the same recordings on Kodi as I have on Emby. The only reason I use Kodi anymore, though is because it has a "real" fast forward and rewind and not the skip ahead and back that is in Emby. Having Emby as the central storage though is great.
