Look for EmbySync in the threads.  It's a new Kodi Plugin to replace XBM3C.  Essentially it syncs all of the MB3 database into the native Kodi database.  Works pretty damn well, syncs over resume location, and watched info as well.

Yeah it works very well.  It direct plays on my Minix Neo x8h Plus and the Fire TV Sticks.

Posting this in the first thread, just because it's an interesting problem, related directly to sideloading the latest Android version onto the Fire TV (dunno about the stick). And I haven't encountered this problem on any other version of the app, or other platform.

1. Run Media Browser through the normal convoluted way on Fire TV.

2. Play a full TV episode (Can't recall if it happens with movies, but say watching HD Castle, it happens EVERY time).

3. Exit, go select next episode.

 

Result:

When the episode tries to start, or simply in selecting the next episode, it starts to freeze up, and usually then turns to a grey screen, and just sits there.

 

Just calling it out here. Just the weirdest repro of a problem I've seen. And it's pretty much 100% of the time. Strange stuff.

Client is the latest one I got pushed through the Play Store, 2.2.10 looks like. Server is: 3.0.5569.0 though I don't expect that's relevant.

Other notes:

- Using wired connection rather than wireless

- Maxed out the potential network speed to 40mbps, though I don't recall it mattered if it was 6mbps or 40.. I can test it more tonight.

I'm close to getting into it.  The most likely scenario is that we have a new app targeted specifically at the Fire and other TV devices and the current app remains the mobile one.

So until that possibly happens...

 

The old XBMC plugin was really slow on a Fire TV Stick.  As mentioned above, the new Kodi (now in open beta) plugin though is far faster, so people who have one should consider it as an option.  Some skins are faster than others, but overall it works far better now than before.

 

And I also discovered yesterday that it's possible to trick the built-in Fire TV launcher to show Kodi in apps/recent, so right now that makes it the most convenient, in my opinion (steps paraphrased from XDA-Developers:

 

1. Sideload Kodi 14.2
2. From the Settings>Applications section, run Kodi and go to at least the point where you reach the main menu (after the initial setup)
3. On the PC, install Kodi from Amazon (Ignore the fact it says your Fire TV isn't compatible):  http://www.amazon.com/XBMC-Foundatio...&keywords=Kodi

4.  On the Fire TV, go to Settings>Account, and sync content

 

5.  If it doesn't work at this point, de-register and then re-register your Amazon account from the Fire TV stick (Settings>Account) and repeat step 4.

 

(Step 5 was necessary for me, but others on the thread I saw that from didn't have to do it).

Hmmm, really?  I thought we nabbed that issue.  Can you try re-starting by backing all the way out and then going back in?

 

Rest assured it is just an issue with the display and the message should go away when the trial expires.

One slight issue I've noticed is that it seems to always transcode when I would have expected it to direct play from source and my server struggles when doing live transcoding of 1920x1080 video. In my settings on the fireTV the bitrate is set to 30MBps
