@@CBers - leave the DeviceId in and try - the url should download the video in the browser...

And there is no difference at all between tv and movie playback - all goes through the same code..

 

My problem is I don't understand how a file can play on mine and not on your - the only non common element here is your server setup. 

I know its a pain but can you install a server on a seperate pc and try add the media to that server, then try playback?

I'm out this evening, but I can try that tomorrow.

 

I don't understand how a TV episode plays fine but a movie doesn't.

 

Or why beta works but dev doesn't.

OK, I tried the url in a browser and after what seemed like an age, it started playing, but I do get some of these occasionally:

I'm now on a 2nd MBS install, and for future reference, if the app can't connect to the hard-coded server details, it needs to throw up a mess, as I'm sat with a blank screen, with just the MB3 logo top-right.

About to uninstall and reinstall using 2nd MBS.

OK, pointing to the 2nd MBS install (on dev build), I'm still getting the same CONNECTION ERROR message as before.

I cannot replicate @@CBers issue - I would appreciate someone who is more familiar with the Server to diagnose the issue as I am now at a loss... 

 

Your second to last post looks like a classic network issue. I know its annoying but I simply cannot reproduce and as such its difficult to diagnose.

 

As for the error message once i pass the url to the samsung video player i have no control over error messages - the fact its at the black screen sounds to me like it is loading very slowly, like you had in the browser....

Thanks for still looking into this.

 

I have raised an issue (#870) on Github for this.

 

Something has changed in the dev build as beta plays just fine, no matter what I throw at it.

 

Is there any more logging you can add to the app that would glean more evidence?

I've just tried playto (DLNA) to my Samsung TV and on beta it plays fine, but on dev build I get a "Please check network connection ".

 

So, something definitely changed in the dev build which breaks playback to Smart TV's.

@@CBers - thanks for the update - although my DLNA works fine its good to know its not an app issue :D Tracking down imaginary bugs is a nightmare :P

So you're running MBS dev and working OK?

I have been using the app for about 2 months now with no problems (my 7yo son also has no problem using it) on my UA40ES5500; so tonight I decided to install the new .460e version and try out the music functions.

 

However I cant get the music functions to work, I have enabled the "experimental features", restarted the app - no joy, deleted the app re-installed it, re-set it up and enabled the "experimental features", restarted the app - still no joy, also turned off the TV and unplugged it, restarted the app and still no joy.

 

Any thoughts ?

@@chessdragon136 - the issue I raised has been closed with the comment "Fixed in latest".

 

I'll have a play with it a bit later.

 

Good news @chessdragon136, all of my movies are now playing OK on the latest dev build.

 

Not sure what @@Luke fixed, but thanks to him :)

Now, I'm able to access more content types, but unable to play types other than movies, TV, and music.
When I tried to view a photo content, the app behavior was strange, screen was blinking, then contents show and hide.

Folder navigation should now be possible for items which do not have their own custom views - like home videos... Let me know as this is ongoing but i can now play a home video...

1. run the following url in a web browser changing the red bits to be your server and your user id and post the resulting text - should be like

http://192.168.1.108:11111/mediabrowser/Users/4b4c128121aa642086bb225659a7d471/Items?format=json&IncludeItemTypes=MusicArtist&Recursive=true&Limit=0

 

Your userid can be found in the dashboard from the web interface, users setting on the left, then select your user account. It is the the address bar as userid=XXX

 

2. In the app once updated navigate to the main menu bar (at the top) and press the red button 3 times within 3 seconds... You should get a menu up saying test mode is true. Then press the yellow button and let me know what you see.

Pictures shouldn't have been enabled, was a mistake on my part! I'm still working on it.

 

@@CharlesC -> Is your music set up as type music in the server?

Home Video are playable in Experimental mode ; but TV shows are not playing anymore

Can you run the below url's - again changing the red bits and server details like before and saving the results (PM me if you don't want info made public)

I used to click on that thumbnail, then it plays, but just tried by pressing play button on my RC ; then it played, so, false alarm, TV contents still playable; when the change of control was not know to me [emoji4]

Urm that last page looks horribly broken to me - Doesn't seem to be showing any tv episode data at all :S It hasn't always been like that right? It should be like the below...
