How do I tell that ?? Is it in the dashboard ??

Should be yes.

@@chessdragon136 - I have re-encoded my movie (Avatar) to remove the DTS track.

I now only have an AC3 track, but I am still getting the same errors as above.

The Media Info now looks like this in the dashboard:

Capture907.jpg

The latest log is here if you want to take a look.

No transcoding logs.

I'm sorry @@CBers but i still need samples - create 2 10mb samples? one for each of those files - I'm looking at the code now while waiting for the F1 but I'm just not seeing why my code is casing your problem..

And by the way your re-encode program is rubbish as it hasn't marked the AC3 track as default despite it being the only track.. I hate programs that don't follow container specifications!

And can you please provide a sample video file - I really struggle without these and the ones provided by others made fixing the issues trivial (I can use my advanced debug)

Sorry, didn't see that post.

I used MKVMERGE to remove the DTS audio track - surely if there's only 1 track, it is the default ??

Isn't that an issue with MBS rather than the encoding tool ??

Anyway, how do I create a sample please ??

Its only me being picky - if there is one of course it will be the audio track used.. Its just that the MKV specification states that there should always be a defined default (so not MBS fault, it just reads the values from the server)

As for a sample just google something like split mkv and go from there.

Ok initial results - those files play with no problems...

Will test on actual tv after the F1

You'll like this, but not a lot (!!). I have just installed the BETA version of MBS (normally run DEV) and everything is playing fine !!

So, looks like something in the DEV build is causing the issue.

As soon as I go to DEV, I get the connection error.

It's not possible to install previous dev versions, other than the current BETA.

Ok I'm really struggling to reproduce - have just tested on my H series and D series tv's and have no issues.

Released v0.460e in the hope some minor changes there have fixed @@CBers issue....

Let me know. I'm at a complete loss.

Upgraded and everything still works on MBS BETA build, but as soon as I go back to DEV, there's no playback on my movie.

TV shows with single audio tracks, playback fine, but not multi-audio.

I'm confused as much as you, as everything was working fine until v0.460d was released.

Definitely something changed between MBS v3.0.5289.18698 (BETA) and v3.0.5299.13518 (DEV) builds.

Not sure it helps any.

I changed movies to see if it was the one I was using, even though it works on BETA.

Edit: Ok run that url from the debug log in your browser and tell me what happens.

Also, I'm wondering if Trackt is interfering given the log... Please remove it and test.

Original:

Sorry @@CBers but you said earlier that you stripped a file so it only had 1 audio track and it still didn't play... :S

I also cannot replicate the issue.. I have just tried them on the tv again and both files play absolutely fine. I am running dev build 3.0.5299.13519

Did you  test your two files you gave me to see if they had the same issue?

Can you please remove any plugins or any additional server data - perhaps something has changed but I cannot replicate it currently. I cannot go back to v0.460c as the fix in d is critical. The actual playback url never changed anyway!

Rescan the libraries, remove any plugins, completely uninstall, reboot tv, and reinstall the app. Aside from that I don't know.

Which URL do you mean please ??

These are the plugins I have installed - Trakt hasn't been updated for a while.

I think I need to do a bit more testing with other media types, but it seems no matter what movie I choose (90% have dual-audios), but it will not play when MBS is running in DEV build.

With MBS in BETA it's fine.

The only thing that has changed, as far as I know, is the version level of the Smart app - I appreciate the need for the "d" release.

Not sure if @@Luke has any ideas.

Returned to DEV and un-installed Trakt, but I still get the same error on the TV.

WRT to the URL, do you mean this one:

http://192.168.1.140:8096/mediabrowser/Videos/856181a5161a79715a266404a6242755/Stream.mkv?static=true&VideoStreamIndex=0&AudioStreamIndex=1&MediaSourceId=856181a5161a79715a266404a6242755&DeviceId=SHCHU5ARL4PQ2&StartTimeTicks=0

Not sure that will work in a browser with it with that Deviceid, will it ??

UPDATE: OK, I tried it in a browser, minus the Deviceid and nothing happened, but in the server log there is a similar message:

2014-07-06 21:43:41.4670 Error - HttpResponseExtensions: Error in HttpListenerResponseWrapper: Cannot close stream until all bytes are written.

For information, 192.168.1.199 is my Samsung TV; 192.168.1.102 is the PC I ran the URL on.

@@chessdragon136 - is it anything to do with the Dolby/DTS settings in the app?

I have Dolby enabled and DTS disabled.

Most of my movies have both DTS and Dolby tracks.

Just a thought.

Nope that didn't make a difference when I turned them on/off and tried playback.

Just tried playing a DTS only audio track movie and it failed with the same error.

Previously, the movie would play but without any sound, but I am getting nothing.

OK, just found a few AVI's that playback fine, but they're only MPEG4/MP3 movies.

MP4 movies with h264/AAC play as well.

As soon as I play an MKV movie, it fails.

TV shows in an MKV container with AC3 audio playback fine.

Is there something different between movie and TV show playback?

.

On the plus side,  have just bought a Samsung UE40H6500 and it is fast - my app before it used to take a second to load the pages and now its instant - good to know it was the limitation of the tv and not my app :D I can now also watch transcoded stuff so i can finally get to work on a lot of things and test them in house

that's great news, congrats
