Firstly, sorry if this is the wrong place to ask. I'm new to emby, but I searched and couldn't find a solution. I use an HDHR Prime/WMC to record TV and recently my cable provider started switching to H264. I also use serverWMC to play recorded TV through emby. All MPEG content plays great, H264 does not. It starts transcoding, then dies after a few seconds. It looks like ffmpeg is the culprit, but I don't have much experience reading the logs yet and don't know why. Anyone else have this problem? Is it DRM? server-63591562818.txt transcode-04aa2b14-c805-46b6-bbc8-1b02ea06edb0.txt

Hello from germany! (We want to be second ) First i have to say sorry for my english. I have hundreds of wtv Files from WMC on my Server. I have running emby apps on several platforms like Android, FireTV, Windows etc.. playing wtv files works fine on every of these platforms. Only on NVIDIA Shieldtv it is not possible to play wtv files. If i force transcoding by setting a lower maximum bitrate, the shield app works. But without transcoding, it doesn't. Is it possible to enable transcoding only for wtv files? Or maybe it will work in future releases of the app? is there a plan for fixing this ? Tell me if i can help in any way! I'm excited about emby, and i really would like to buy it, but only with a fully working app for Nvidia Shield. Thanks in advance

I have posted this in Emby Testing but it could belong in here. I have mentioned that all my wmc records are getting transcoded than Luke mentioned to put it a different library so I did copied a movie recording to movies folder pressed play and noticed no transcoding but playing from live tv in the new emby theatre it does transcode. Then I played about 10 different recordings and every single one in serverwmc it displays remuxed recording. I think it is likely cause why it is transcoding. Maybe I have a wrong setting that I cannot see. serverwmc version is 1.0.0.60 build 1225

I'm running Emby server 3.0.5588.1 and playing with the just released Amazon TV app on an Amazon TV Stick. Mostly looking pretty good (nice job guys!), but one problem so far. I'm running Emby server on my Windows Media Center box (Win7) and sharing some WTV files I've recorded myself. They work fine from a browser or from several of the apps. But on the Amazon TV Stick all I get is a black screen where the video should be (audio seems to be fine). Not all WTV files are a problem, just most of them. I tried perhaps 10 shows and only 2 worked. As I said, those same shows worked in other Emby Apps, the problem is specific to the Amazon TV Stick. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Emby Server Version 3.0.5597.1 Emby Theater Version 3.0.5591.19855 Playback of Recorded TV (WTV) files with Theater is showing a 3 to 4 second length in the Progress Bar and does not allow any FFWD of the file. The file will continue to play past this length, but any attempt to FFWD will stop play. No resume status as well. Version 3.0.5531 of Theater was the previous version and did not have this issue. Doesn't appear to be an issue with MP4 or MKV files, just WTV files.

First off: MB is great, and thank you to all involved for the great work. Reason for the post: I watch recorded TV remotely via multiple devices and it works great, save one issue. Many of the recorded programs lack seek functionality when played through MB (on any client, including browser). It could be the same show recorded in the same time-slot and one episode will have it displaying the current incrementing position and the total duration. While another episode will only show the current incrementing position with no total duration indication --> for these episodes seek does not work. On some clients the seek bar will show NaN/NaN as the end (vs 1:02 for an hour long show with recorded with 2 minute pad). All of these play nice and seek fine in WMC and any extenders, they also seek in Kodi. My theory is for some reason MB didn't get complete meta-data for those files from the wtv, but that's just a theory. Not sure what the root cause would be. Anyone have any ideas why this might be occurring, and if there is knob I can turn to eliminate the issue? It seems to impact at least half of the recordings. HDHomerun Prime -- WMC -- ServerWMC -- MediaBrowser Server Thanks PL

Hi, Just wondering if anybody has come across this problem. Apologies if this has already been covered. I have looked without obvious success.. I have just created a new media library called "TV Recorded" and placed all my WMC recorded tv files (wtv). All have have been detected and displayed in MBC in appropriate TV series folders. When I press the play button on a selected folder and select 'Play All', the first episode in that folder begins to play (so far, so good). The problem I am experiencing is when the first epsode finishes, my screen automatically switches back to the MBC screen where all my "TV Recorded" folders are displayed WITH the second episode playing in the background (behind the MBC screen, hearing the audio in the background). Things I've tried: 1 - I did originally create a folder inside the Windows "Recorded TV" folder (D:\Recorded TV\TV Recorded), now I have moved the "TV Recorded" folder to D:\TV Recorded 2 - Change "Media Type" from 'TV' to 'Uniset' 3 - Tried the Play All featured with other file types (mp4 etc.) and worked without issue I'm guessing it might have something to do with wtv files? Thanks in advance..

Is it possible for Samsung E-series TV's to stream WMC's recorded TV files (WTV)? I'm aware that copy once protected files will not be supported, but can copy freely work? I have tried connecting to the Emby server to playback these files, but I get "media not supported" messages. So, the format being presented to the TV is not one it supports apparently. Is it possible to edit the Samsung profile to attempt to transcode to an alternate supported format? Thanks in advance!

First off, thank you all for the amazing work you've done! I LOVE being able to watch my media directly in an app on the samsung tv and you guys are just AWESOME for making it happen. I am having a slight bit of difficulty skipping ahead or rewinding .wtv files in the app and was wondering if anyone else was. They resume great, I can watch them just fine, but if I try to fast forward or rewind, it acts like it pauses. When I hit play again, it hasn't moved forward, and just resumes from where it was before. I'm running this on a Samsung F8000 and have am running with the latest version (0.571). This isn't a new issue I've had, I've had trouble with wtv files since I started using it. Any help would be greatly appreciated . Thanks!

Hi, I'm finding it takes an awfully long time to start streaming wtv files from a windows 7 64 bit computer to a now tv box is there a known delay in streaming as it goes at an absolute crawl but using next pvr works faster and as such do people prefer using next pvr when trying to stream over the network or not?

Hi, Great work on the android client, I have it installed on my nexus 7 2013 setup to use MX player as an external player. This works flawlessly with mkv files. However I would love to be able to play wtv (Windows Media Center) recordings from the recorded tv folder. MX Player plays this files fine when stored locally. For Ref these wtv files are UK Freeview SD and HD recordings in the following formats SD = mpeg2 HD = H.264 lev 4 with AAC-in-LATM audio When I ask media browser to play them and choose MX Player I get a file cannot be played type error, I also get the same sort of error in VLC. Interestingly when I hack around with the URL that media browser generates and change ../steam.wtv to ../steam.mkv, MX Player and VLC actually start playing the file. Although no audio sadly. This could be a MX Player or VLC bug but it seems odd that wtv can be played locally and nearly work when I change the extension in the url. Anyone get any tips on how to get this to work? I don't really want to go done the transcoding route when I know the nexus can play them in the original format.

Recorded TV playback problems: .wtv played with MPC-HC in Theater no subtitles, does not jump ahead
postmoderndesign posted a topic in Windows & Xbox
I am still having problems in Server version Version 3.0.5264.17006 and Theater 3.05243.22734 playing back .wtv recorded TV programs with MPC-HC 1.7.5 set as the external player for .wtv files Specifically, subtitles do not display and are greyed out I cannot jump past commercials using the harmony remote. Skip forward is not working. And stop does not return me to Theater. I am getting a lengthy filter list in MPC-HC: iTV MPEG-2 Section and Tables madVR Default Direct Sound Device PBDA DT Filter LAV Video Decoder (internal) Audio Switcher PBDA DT Filter LAV Audio Decoder (internal) Stream Buffer Source However, the recorded TV show will play and 720 is upscaled to 1080 so the video quality is improved.- 2 replies

Hi all, Looking for outside wisdom on this one - Have the latest and greatest MB3 server installed (3.0.5050.37565) on a clean install and small amount of h264 WTV files (8 total). However, I've noticed that the metadata is not being saved by MB Server for the movies to the folders at all (for any of them) - upon inspection I'm suspecting it has something to do with trying to get the run time of the movie itself, which seems to return as a massively huge number. Case example is the movie Angels & Demons - I've used VideoRedo to create the .wtv file from a re-encode I made from the original. Link to the metadata from the library explorer is here http://paste2.org/UKGVK1Lc , and the relevant part of the logfile is here which is detailing the error http://paste2.org/U4YsYvUF - to me, it appears the move length value is aborting the saving of the metadata file, would that be correct? I should point out there's absolutely NO problems with playback, the file itself plays back perfectly, runtime length is correct, however it's a wee wrinkle that has me puzzled (and the lack of the metadata obviously stops the values pulling through to MBC displays). Anyone have any ideas?
