Hello All, I'm new to Emby just installed it 2 days ago but I needed help with trailers so I relied to already opened topic but didn't know if I should create a new one. So when I log into the Emby server or (Local Host) on my desktop the option to view the trailer for the selected movie is there and works meaning it plays the trailer when clicked. The Trailer button on the Emby Server is the second button listed after the play button buttons are in this order - Play, Trailer, Delete, (check/watched), (heart/favorite), and the 3 dots please see the attachment named: Trailer Button On Emby Server to see (Also on the Emby server or Local Host there is a trailer for every Movie and TV Show that was added to the Media Library Added to Emby please see attachments) But then when I go into my Emby app on my TV (via Roku all new just bought this year), there isn't a trailer button to play the trailer for that selected Movie or TV Show when you go to watch a Movie or TV Show. (the Trailer button does not appear). I would also like to know how to set up my media library trailers to randomly play before a movie I select to watch... not referring to the paid version with the plugin just the please see settings attachment would like it to play all watched and unwatched. I hope this was explained correctly and I thank you for your help in advance... and I hope to hear back from someone soon.

I don't know if this is correct place to ask for this or whether the trailers plug-in would be the correct place. When you are on a movie page, you get the More Like This section which includes suggestions among your movies as well as trailers. I like having the trailers in there, but for movies that are not on Emby. Would it be possible to have an option to Include Trailers Only when you do NOT have the movie in Emby? Or show the movie link instead of the trailer? It's difficult for someone like my wife who doesn't know all of the movies we own and when she sees a suggestion, she assumes we don't have it if there is a trailer. So the only way is to go into the trailer page, click on an actor and then look at all of the movies that feature that actor. I hope this is clear. Thanks.

Not sure where to put this, but seems to be where everyone puts Cinema Mode questions. I love the idea of trailers before my movies/tv shows and love this feature. I am even considering putting shorts/newsreels/cartoons in front. Thank you for creating and supporting. However, the last two times I have enabled this, I get the same trailers over and over. Even if I watch the entire trailer, I get it again with the next movie. They do not all repeat but they repeat enough that I shut off the feature instead of skipping the trailer. So I have some questions. 1. Have I set it up incorrectly? I looked at the explanations of all the options and cannot see where to change a setting that would change this. 2. Where does it get the trailers from? Is there a way to change the source? 3. How does it decide that trailers to play next? Random? Based on viewing habits? 4. Am I insane? I know this last one is subjective, but perhaps.... Thanks to anyone who helps. Don

I've noticed that on Apple TV that the Trailers button is missing on many titles. I see the Trailers button on very few titles when compared to using the web browser and iPhone app. E.g.: I have the option to watch a trailer on the Firefox or iPhone, but not Apple TV. Please advise, thanks. Apple TV 4K with tvOS 11.4.1 (15M73) Apple TV Emby Version 1.2.14 Trailers Plugin 1.1.6.0 Server log attached Log.txt

Hello Emby I had a similar issue a while back and I was told that my version of Emby Theater was not up to date as you turned off you auto update and I needed to manually download and reinstall. I'm having issues playing Trailers again - it was working perfectly not long ago and if I use the WEB interface the trailers play perfectly. It is only when I use Emby Theater that Trailers don;t work. All I get is the revolving circle forever. I am running Emby Server 3.4.1.0 and Emby Theater version 3.0.1 It's super frustrating that things work perfectly and then don't without any changes to my system Can some please advise what I should do to get this stable? Many thanks Rob

One of the tendencies that I have noted in multiple apps are live tiles. For example Youtube TV has live tiles for live TV, as you move on the focus, it shows on the selected show tile a live feed in a small window. Similarly the Netflix Android TV app shows for Netflix movies the poster, and as a specific movie is the focus, it shows the trailer for the movie. So I imagine a poster view for movies, and as a movie is the focus, that trailer for that movie plays in the actual tile. For TV shows, the live tile could be the TV theme if available. For the on now on Live TV, the actual feed can play. I do realize that this is be player specific as opposed to the server.

OK - this is super WEIRD!!! I've just noticed when I use Chromecast from my iphone to my TV and play a movie trailer from my movies on my EMBY library, the movie trailer does not play, but instead a video file from my music collection plays instead (an R.E.M music video). When I disconnect from my Chromecast connection and try the movie trailer again, it plays perfectly on my IPhone. This ONLY happens when I am Casting to my Chromecast device. It plays the same music video for all my movie trailer selections (any movie I choose when Casting). But when I disconnect from Chromecast the trailers play fine. This was working perfectly over the past few days. Any ideas folks? This is super weird. Thanks Rob

Trailers not loading - Freenas + emby 3.2.70.0 + Trailers 1.1.2.0
rodger.howard posted a topic in FreeBSD
Please pardon me if I have opened this topic in the wrong forum - I linked it with the base OS (FreeBSD / Freenas). Symptom is when I navigate to the trailer menu in the browser (tried with current versions of Chromium, Chrome and Firefox) no trailers are listed. Feature worked prior to upgrading the plugin to 3.2.70. Seems there is a security error? Hello Emby via I need some help please with Trailers. I'm running Emby Theatre and I have the fastest possible Fibre Connection available that is directly connected to my Emby Theatre PC via the network port. However, when I view a trailer on my movie (trailer button) I often get very jerky trailers. Around 80% of the time the trailer will freeze and then carry on. It is super annoying and I wanted to know if I have done something wrong, or if there is a way to configure EMBY Theater to play smoother trailers please. Ironically when I Chromecast the same trailer (say from Youtube) via my Iphone onto the same TV the trailers run super smooth without issue. Any help greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Rob

Hi, I recently subscribed to Emby Premiere mainly for the benefit of being able to use Cinema mode so that trailers will play before my movies. This works well in the web interface however when I attempt to play a movie in the WMC app it does nothing (i.e. when I click the 'Play' button nothing happens, I have to go turn off Cinema mode in the app settings for the movie to play at all). The trailers play fine if I play them from the 'Trailers' folder within the WMC app, its only when playing a movie does it not work. My app and server versions are below I believe are the latest. Please advise, thanks. Emby for WMC: 3.0.307.0 Emby Server: 3.2.70.0

Just started to use the trailers plugin 1.1.2.0 on Emby server 3.2.35.0. On my iPad (IOS11.0.3) trailers are working as it should, but on my Apple TV 4K (tvOS 11.1), trailers are not working and displays the following message: - "An error occurred loading this content." Does the server or app, needs an update, for the new profile of the Apple TV 4K with tvOS11.1 ? And is this problem somehow related to: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/52480-live-tv-not-working-apple-tv-4k-dvblink-plugin/ Attached 2 logs where my last actions on the Apple TV 4K were: - Play Movie from library (OK) - Trying to play some trailers from the trailer plugin (Not working)

Hello, I have enabled cinema mode in emby to play local trailers and I also have radeon's plugin to grab all the youtube videos for all the movies I own. Ever since I enabled this feature, it works for some, but others it fails to play and just goes back to the movie details page. I have noticed that in the logs, it is trying to grab the trailer from the wrong subdirectory. The following is my setup: Movies Hocus Pocus Hocus Pocus.mkv Hocus Pokus-trailer.mp4 etc... The logs indicate that it looking for the file in the Movies directory. I wanted to populate my library with a local trailer for each film. I was also interested in learning a bit of Python. So this resulted in the script below, if you want to run it you'll need to install Requests and PyTube (can be done using PIP): import sys import requests import urllib import json import ConfigParser import glob import os from pytube import YouTube config = ConfigParser.RawConfigParser() config.read('trailers.ini') embyapi = "" embykey = "" embyusr = "" h = 0 i = 0 j = 0 k = 0 if config.has_option('emby', 'api'): embyapi = config.get('emby', 'api') else: embyerror = "No Emby URL in Config File.\n" if config.has_option('emby', 'key'): embykey = config.get('emby', 'key') else: embyerror += "No Emby API Key in Config File.\n" if config.has_option('emby', 'usr'): embyusr = config.get('emby', 'usr') else: embyerror += "No Emby User ID in Config File." if config.has_option('emby', 'dirfrom'): embydirf = config.get('emby', 'dirfrom') else: embydirf = "" if config.has_option('emby', 'dirto'): embydirt = config.get('emby', 'dirto') else: embydirt = "" if len(embyapi) == 0 or len(embykey) == 0 or len(embyusr) == 0: print(embyerror) sys.exit() if embyapi[-1] != "/": embyapi += "/" url = embyapi + "Users/%s/Items?IncludeItemTypes=Movie&Recursive=true&StartIndex=0&format=json&fields=RemoteTrailers,Path" % (embyusr) headers = { 'content-type': 'application/json', 'Authorization': 'MediaBrowser', 'UserId': embyusr, 'Client': 'EmbyTrailers', 'Device': 'Python Script', 'DeviceId': 'xxx', 'Version': '1.0.0.0', 'X-MediaBrowser-Token': embykey, } emby = requests.get(url, headers = headers) films = json.loads(emby.content) if not 'Name' in films['Items'][0]: print print("No Films Found") else: for film in films['Items']: if film['LocalTrailerCount'] == 0: h += 1 fulpath = film['Path'].encode("utf-8") if embydirf != "" and embydirt != "": fulpath = fulpath.replace(embydirf, embydirt, 1) fulpath = os.path.normpath(fulpath.replace('\\', os.sep)) basefil = os.path.basename(fulpath) basedir = os.path.dirname(fulpath) trail = os.path.splitext(basefil)[0] if trail[-3:-1] == "CD": trail = trail[:-4] if basedir[-1] != os.sep: basedir += os.sep if len(glob.glob(r"%s%s%s" % (basedir, trail, "-trailer*"))) == 0: download = True i += 1 for trailer in film['RemoteTrailers']: if download: try: yt = YouTube(trailer['Url'].encode("utf-8")) yt.set_filename(trail + "-trailer") video = yt.filter('mp4')[-1] video.download(basedir) except Exception, e: print(trail + " - " + trailer['Url'].encode("utf-8") + " - " + str(e)) if len(glob.glob(r"%s%s%s" % (basedir, trail, "-trailer*"))) > 0: download = False j += 1 if download: k += 1 print("Emby thinks %s Films are Missing Trailers" % (h)) print("%s Films Actually Missing Trailers" % (i)) print("Downloaded %s Trailers" % (j)) print("Unable to Download %s Trailers" % (k)) It reads a trailer.ini file: [emby] api = https://localhost/emby/ key = 00000000000000000000000000000000 usr = 11111111111111111111111111111111 dirfrom = \\Server dirto = /mnt which contains the Emby URL, Emby Username, Emby Api Key and two keys to convert the file paths (Emby reports the file location as \\Server\Movie\Movie.avi, but when I want to run the script on the local machine I want to look at /mnt/Movie/Movie.avi) Two assumptions the script makes is that the trailers are stored as <Movie Name>-trailer.mp4 and that files that have been split over multiple discs will be <Movie Name> CD1.avi, <Movie Name> CD2.avi etc I've run the script locally on my FreeBSD server and remotely from a Windows Machine (In this instance I removed the dirfrom and dirto values) and seems to work on both. Thought this might be useful to others or for someone wanting to work with Emby in Python.

Hi All, I like to have a local trailer stored for each of the movies in my collection. But for some films although the trailer exists in the local directory Emby refuses to acknowledge it's existence. As you can see above, "Zoolander 2 (2016).avi" exists in my movies folder as does "Zoolander 2 (2016)-trailer.mp4" which is the naming convention I have used for all my trailers for all files and seems to work for most. Although Emby shows the option of a Trailer in the web interface, when clicked YouTube is loaded with the corresponding film rather than the local file. As you can see from the JSON returned by an API call, Emby believes that the LocalTrailerCount is 0 when I believe it should be 1. Refreshing the film does not force Emby to update the value, does anyone have any idea on why Emby is not recognising the local trailer and how I can get it to update the LocalTrailerCount? No trailers play when I start a movie. Settings are as here: To summarize: Cinema Mode is enabled in playback for 'movies' and 'episodes'. I disabled all the internet based trailers since I have local versions. I enabled 'include trailers from movies in my library'. I set 'number of trailers' to '3' I enabled 'only play trailers from unwatched content'. emby is Version 3.1.2.0 this happens for me both in the web interface, the kodi app (I've got premium) from kodi on the same machine as the emby-server, from kodi on another machine. My trailers are stored beside the movies in the same directory, like so: ./movies/moviename.mkv ./movies/moviename-trailer.mkv

Trailers Plugin - Display Relevant Dates for various Views (eg, Date Coming to Theaters, or to Netflix)
funwithmedia posted a topic in Plugins
Another idea/request for the nifty Trailers Plugin. This one's probably a bit more involved (potentially a lot more involved). It would be really useful if each of the three views (New and Upcoming in Theaters, New and Upcoming on DVD/Blu-ray, New and Upcoming on Netflix) would default to displaying trailers by whatever the most relevant date is for that view (eg, movie release date, DVD/Blu-ray release date, date coming to Netflix). And it would be even more useful if that information could be displayed on the detail screen somehow, and also perhaps have some visual date markers in the horizontal scrolling view within Emby Theater (Windows Desktop). The visual date markers in the horizontal scrolling view could be as simple as a vertical dividing line separating months (and a text indicator of which month was on which side of the line). I am guessing that the biggest challenge with the above would be getting access (in a programmatic way) to the necessary date information. But, I figure it doesn't hurt to put the idea out there. Thanks for considering my request! -
Trailers Plugin - Option to Hide from "More Like This" Outside of Trailers Section
funwithmedia posted a topic in Plugins
The Trailers Plugin is pretty nifty. However, I wish that I could prevent Trailers from being displayed in the "More Like This" section of Emby Theater (Windows Desktop). I prefer to just keep all the Trailers in the Trailers section. Thanks for considering my request! -
Trailers: Sorting, Watched/Unwatched Toggle, Add to Que - Not Working
Tanamur posted a topic in Android TV / Fire TV
Emby Server Windows Public: v3.0.8500 Amazon Devices Beta: v1.2.77a Trailers Add-in 1.0.6103.26386 Hi Forum - I'm having quite a bit of difficulty with the "New & Upcoming" content and function of my Trailers Plug-in. I have tried to trouble shoot it by uninstalling/re-installing to no avail and am wondering if there is a way to purge or reset the content. Problem #1 (image below): I have the sort option set to "Date Added" but it appears the trailers are sorted in numerical/alphabetical order (e.g. 13 Minutes, 20th Century Women, A Monster Calls, A Dog's Purpose, etc...) Clearly the trailer for Almost Human is from a movie released in 2013 so way out of date for the settings Problem #2 (image below): The toggle to display watched/unwatched trailers has a problem. As you look at the current setting to display Unwatched only, several of the trailers have green ticks indicating they have been watched yet still display. If I watch a trailer without the green tick mark (Arrival below), it will disappear after being played and the next trailer will slide up to take its place (Assassin's Creed). Also, if I re-watch a trailer with the green tick mark (Assassin's Creed), it too will disappear and next in order will slide up to take its place (The Autopsy of Jane Doe). So, this functionality seems to be working as designed now but all previous watched/unwatched trailer status have a problem. Is there any way to purge or rebuild this info? I am happy to start over with no viewing history. Problem #3 (log attached): Attempting to add any trailer to a queue/playlist crashes Emby every time. The Emby app locks up completely, after about 15 secs the screen goes black and the back key no longer works. I have to hold the Home key on the remote for about 5 secs to pop up the mini-menu for Sleep, My apps, etc and return to My Apps. The Emby app no longer works and I have to reboot the FireTV to re-enter the Emby app. Attached is the server log for the crash only. I realize this is a lot in one post but all three of these issues have been this way on my installation for months and I was waiting for a few releases to address them before documenting them. Thanks, Tanamur server-63615926199.txt -
Im using Emby inside WMC and cannot play any trailers at all. When I choose a trailer to play it simply doesn't play or it loads the trailer frame by frame very slowly.

Trailer plugin no longer plays trailers (loads forever)
skurvy_pirate posted a topic in General/Windows
In the last couple days trailers stopped working for me. They don't play before movies (cinema mode) and when I go directly to the trailers plugin and try playing something, it just displays the loading icon forever. I didn't see anything that jumped out in the logs. I have tried reinstalling the plugin and it hasn't made any difference. Any ideas what could be going on? -
As you can see from my screenshot, I'm wanting 2 trailers to play before my movie, I want smart parental controls as I have immaculate mpaa metadata, I also only want trailers from unwatched movies in my collection, and all trailers are only to be sourced from local trailers only. The problem is I can play a watched movie, say like Man of Steel is watched, well my first trailer is Man of Steel. The same bug appears for a movie that I'm watching that is unwatched currently, I'll get the trailer for the movie I'm about to start first thing. Was wondering if anyone else is seeing this or could test with my settings. Version 3.1.196.0 beta

Trailers - How to disable internet streaming to use locals only?
shadetree posted a topic in Plugins
I purchase all my movies on discs and save them and the included trailers locally, I only have available limited expensive satellite off peak internet. My family inadvertently stream trailers if it's not a local, and there is no where I can find to prevent this within the Trailers Plugin or Emby Server.- 6 replies
