How Emby handles episodes marked as unwatched after a Trakt sync
toffee_123 posted a topic in General/Windows
I have tried to mark episodes as unwatched in Emby, so I can rewatch a show and get the next episode in 'continue watching'. However, as I'm using the Trakt plugin, when the plugin syncs, the unwatched status in Emby is overridden based on the Trakt play history. There are three possible solutions to this, two of which are not preferable: Remove plays from Trakt (not preferable, as this defeats one of the purposes of Trakt - keeping a record of my watches). Disable Update Trakt watched history during Scheduled Task option (not preferable, as I need to keep watches synced between Emby and Plex). Change the behaviour of Emby/the Trakt plugin, so when manually marking an item as unwatched in Emby, this is not overridden by a Trakt sync (or add an option in the Trakt plugin settings to specify how Emby will handle this situation). Option 3 is is how Plex handles this situation, and is why I currently have to do my rewatches on Plex rather than Emby (I'm a lifetime member of both). It would be really cool if you could change this behaviour in Emby, as I've noted multiple users have also had issues with this behaviour in the past. -
Can you please implement an option to hide the synopsis of un-watched episodes and movies (mainly episodes) as I find them kind of like a spoiler and annoys the hell out of me. This was a big feature for me to use XBMC but ever since using MB3 I can't go back LOL. Thanks

I'm using Emby for Kodi on Windows 10, with the latest Kodi 18.5, and the latest Emby Server updated. Recently, I've had all of my movies and TV shows marked as "watched" without me doing anything. Every single one. I have no idea where to start troubleshooting why this happened. But it keeps happening. I drop a new movie into my library. Start up Kodi, Emby sees the new movie and adds it to the database and shows it as "unwatched". After watching something else for a little while, I come back to browse my movies, and the movie is marked as watched. Can someone please provide some assistance in troubleshooting this? Update: All my libraries were removed automatically from the Emby server last night while I was watching a show in Kodi, leaving nothing in my metadata. I did a full rescan of my library from the Emby server. Took a while, but it loaded everything back in. Then I launched Kodi and did a full reset/resync of the Emby library. Everything is back, and I marked everything as "unwatched". Today I load up Kodi, and everything is marked as watched again. Log files attached. Hopefully someone can help me figure out what's going on? Also, a whole lot of Emby Server Metadata keeps getting dumped in my recycle bin every session, without me putting it there. embyserver.txt hardware_detection-63711155723.txt

Trakt TV Plugin sent unwatched state to a lot of my watched movies/episodes to Trakt.
MatsF posted a topic in Plugins
HI, I have a Plex since many years and I have since a little bit over a week started an Emby Server. The first thing I wanted to fix was to sync watch state between Plex/Emby. But a couple of days ago I realized that Trakt tV plugin from Emby had made a lot of my watched movies/episodes unwatched. It obviously happened in the beginning before i got it to work, because I had some problems with it first. It may very well be that I did something wrong, or it may be a bug in the plugin somewhere. I dont want to do the same mistake again if it was me, and I wanted to tell you if there is a bug somewhere in the plugin that let this happen! So, does anybody know any way this could happen? /Mats -
ENHANCEMENT/SUGGESTION Enhance episode counter (i.e. [total episodes remaining]/[total episodes])
ldexterldesign posted a topic in Feature Requests
Hi all, Hope you're well Thanks for software I use the "Next up" (NU) feature/section to balance my consumption habits across all the series I have - variety's the spice of life, right? However, there's one drawback - new series' first episodes don't appear in NU As a result new series are staying unwatched unless I navigate into the library folder and suffer the time consuming task of pruning unwatched series / first episodes I don't necessarily agree with how NU currently works but I understand the logic[0] and I would prefer NU *did not* include first episodes than have to bother with marking a bunch of new series with a forget feature[1] If you, too, have this first episode niggle then hopefully this thread generates some discussion or even better a solution In the meantime may I suggest a simple enhancement to the episode counter Before: x After: x/y x = total episodes remaining / to watch y = total episodes If anyone else reading this agrees please up-vote or reply "+1" Let me know if you have any issues - happy to help Hope this is clear/useful and to hear back Cheers [0] https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/47729-latest-episodes-limited-to-single-series-and-next-up-issue/?p=451716 [1] https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/35883-forget-a-series-in-next-up/- 7 replies

Watched status is reset after a second when using an external player
gauravguptaster posted a topic in General/Windows
I am using an external player with Kodi. Once the user finishes watching and clicks on Kodi's dialog "Click 'Ok' when playback has ended", the particular video is marked as watched for a second. After which "Comparing Database" pop-up comes on the top-right corner and the video is again marked as unwatched. This happens even if the video is manually marked as watched after exiting the external player. However, this does not happen when using the built-in Kodi player. -
Hello all, I am about to transfer all my media to a dedicated QNAP NAS and run Emby Server on that as well. I currently run my EMBY Server on my windows machine. I am just wondering how I would go about ensuring that all the watched, partially watched episodes etc are copied and displayed correctly in the QNAP NAS? Is it as simple as copying my entire Television folder onto the NAS, and therefore all the watched etc flags are there? Or do I have to do something special? Basically I am wanting to transfer or Migrate all my media and the server functionality to the NAS, but want all history retained. Is that possible? Cheers Mark Sorry guys I just found this, I am guessing it is still relevant? https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Backup

Emby Theater - Unwatched Sub-View for Movies with Unwatched Extras
funwithmedia posted a topic in Feature Requests
Sometimes when I want to watch something I'm more in the mood for watching some Movie Extras than I am for watching a Movie. And often I will have Watched a Movie (thus removing it from the Unwatched view), but not yet watched some/all of that Movie's Extras. It would be great if there were a sub-view of Unwatched that just showed Movies with Unwatched Extras (including Movies that have been watched, since this view would be tied to whether there are Unwatched Extras for a Movie, not to the Movie's Watched status). Thanks! Related: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/50381-emby-theater-visual-indication-of-unwatched-movie-extras/ -
Emby Theater - Visual Indication of Unwatched Movie Extras
funwithmedia posted a topic in Feature Requests
I would find it really useful if there was some visual indication that a Watched movie still had Unwatched Extras. What makes sense to me is if the green check mark could be half gray (or some other two-tone effect). So essentially there'd be 3 states: Movie Unwactched = no checkmark; Movie Watched, Some/All Extras Unwatched = partial green checkmark; Movie Watched, All Extras Watched = green checkmark. I'm totally open to other ways of doing this. My goal is simply to be able to quickly see when viewing my Movies that there are Unwatched Extras for a given Movie (so that I might have a better chance of remembering to go back and watch them). Thanks! Related: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/50382-emby-theater-unwatched-sub-view-for-movies-with-unwatched-extras/ -
Sorry if I'm missing something really simple... but I can't work out how to toggle an individual item (i.e. a TV episode) between watched and un-watched. I can enter the season folder of a TV series and mark all the contents as watched or un-watched but not an individual item. If I click on the green tick of a watched item it starts playing that episode rather than un-ticking it. Any help appreciated.

Hello For some reason the main screen when set to unwatched only shows latest added and not what's episode is next. So for example the TV show Arrow. I'm up to S04E16 now, ever unwatched only shows the last 5 episodes of season 5. Around a year ago I didn't have this problem. I just put up with it so far but it annoying. I am using the chocolate theme but the same problem in happens in the classic theme. Any info would be great Thanks

I'm still trying to get used to the new Roku app - I really liked that I could select "TV" and immediately get a list of all TV series that I have. While I can get used to/live with the new "Continue Watching" and "Next up" as the first options, I'm really (really!) missing that the "unwatched/unplayed" filter doesn't seem to get remembered by either the app (or the server?) anymore. I have old watched/played TV series on my server - I really don't need to see them every time I go to "All Shows". If I set the filter under my user as "unwatched", it would be awesome if either the Roku client or the server would remember that setting. Server is Version 3.2.17.0, Roku-TV (TCL, 4K) is, err, whatever is live today (5/20/2017) Thank you for considering this, Frank P.S.: pressing "up" on the first row of multi-row choices as a shortcut for "go to the last row" would be awesome, too

As you can see from my screenshot, I'm wanting 2 trailers to play before my movie, I want smart parental controls as I have immaculate mpaa metadata, I also only want trailers from unwatched movies in my collection, and all trailers are only to be sourced from local trailers only. The problem is I can play a watched movie, say like Man of Steel is watched, well my first trailer is Man of Steel. The same bug appears for a movie that I'm watching that is unwatched currently, I'll get the trailer for the movie I'm about to start first thing. Was wondering if anyone else is seeing this or could test with my settings. Version 3.1.196.0 beta

Is it possible to set the default TV view to Unwatched? If so, how? Thanks, MJ

After the new version was installed, when I go to the Unwatched Filter for movies, it shows all my movies even ones marked as watched in Emby Server. I've tried toggling the watched attribute in server to see if it would update on theater, but no luck. I assume the client is just reading from the server, is there a cache that I can clear or something to get the filter working? (Sorry, no screenshot at this time, but if needed I can get one)

Hey Guys, I have an unwatched folder suddenly appeared in my series tv folder. Is this because of a recent update? I have my folders setup in Legacy mode and have checked settings but could not find anything. I have attached a screenshot. Cheers

There are inconsistancies in the latest TV unwatched numbers depending on view - Home and Home/Latest vs TV Latest. Home Home-Latest TV Latest (correct count)
-
I've setup three collections on the server containing a number of TV series each - none of these collections show an unwatched count - here's two of them (along with some movie boxets) - the ones with the animal pictures are TV collections: Shouldn't TV series collections have an unwatched count? One major side effect of this is that in MBC these collections show with a watched check-mark, which makes it look like there's no un-watched content inside: And a further unwanted side effect - if I enter into one of these collections and watch some episodes, the watched count is decremented - resulting in a negative number when I get back to the front collections screen: (Note: I've posted this before in the MBC section - and I think ebr believes that issue lies at the server end).

Playing latest episode from EHS doesn't decrease unwatched count on folder
AdrianW posted a topic in Windows Media Center
Last night I watched the latest episode of two shows directly from the "unwatched" list on the EHS. After watching each - the item was removed from the EHS as expected. But, when I navigated into a collection and looked at the show folders - both still had an unplayed count of 1. I went into the folders and all episodes were marked as watched - backing out of the folders and the "1" count was still showing. I replicated this again just now - here's the MBC log. I played "Mad Men S07E02 - A Day's Work". -
Completed Chocolate theme - Set watched from unwatched EHS section
mentasm posted a topic in Feature Requests
HI, Would like to request a small change or be educated on how to do this otherwise. I pretty much use the unwatched EHS view for all of my TV browsing to see and select new TV shows that have recently been added to my collection. Quite regularly I wish to set some of these to watched state without having actually watched them. (sometime watch shows at friend places or similar) If there is more than 1 unwatched episode for a show, I can happily use the * key on my remote to set each unwatched episode as watched. If there is only a single episode, the list view is bypassed and the screen goes directly to the detail page for that show. On this screen if I press * the show does not seem to be set as watched. The only way I can work out to set it as watched is to navigate into the TV SHows library, select the show and then find the episode in the right season and set it to watched in there. Am I missing something about another way to do this or could the * key be enabled when on the detail screen for a particular episode? In general I could see being able to set watched from the detail screen for an episode would be a good thing. -
EBR, what are the parameters for episode to be included in the unwatched screen on Chocolates EHS (or any theme for that matter)? Is it possible to show all unwatched episodes where at least one episode in a series has been marked as watched? I would love this. for example i have just started watching The Mentalist and am at s01e04 but the unwatched list only shows the last episode in season 5 and the first in season 6 (the latest one i have). It would be much better if I could see all seasons / episodes after the last one marked as watched thanks

Is there any way of showing in EHS all the videos that are unwatched? I added an entire 9 season tv show, and never watched a single episode. EHS only shows one video from the 1st season, none for the 2nd, 12 for the 3rd, etc... it seems a little inconsistent. I tried to fiddle a bit ( not too much as I didn't want to break it) with the config files in the "...AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Classic\Configurations" but no joy! So i'd prefer, if possible,of course, for it to show all unwatched content. thanks
