App has been locking up for last 2 days. I can open and watch Live & recorded TV, but as soon as I try to open my TV Shows folder app locks and the only way fix things is to clear cache and data.

I am seeing the same behavior as well. I'm on server build:Version 3.0.5346.22797

 

It was fine before I upgraded the server just now to this beta build.

Here's a client log. I cleaned out all previous logs then opened app, played a recorded TV for a minute, then tried to open my TV Shows folder - total lock-up.

I am seeing lockup when trying to enter any media collection folder. MOVIES, TV and MUSIC tabs on main screen and any folders in my LIBRARY section. I can view and play any items that are currently in the NEW, NEXT UP and RESUME section.  Issue started in the last few days.

 

Exact same lockup is occurring on both a Nexus 7 Tablet and Moto X phone with Android Client.

I know what it is. Its a change in server that the release version of the client isnt able to handle. I'll have to see if that change can be temporarily undone.

I can confirm (at least on my Nexus 7 2012) that with Server update this morning - Version 3.0.5347.22095 (Dev build), all folders opening and video, photos, etc. all displaying fine.

Hi redshirt, I've been using your app quite a bit recently and noticed what I consider a quirk

 

It would be helpful for me if I had a local and external address fields along with a local and external port

 

Reason for me is that I have a paid VPN tunnel I run on my server, and they allow a bypass port. I can NAT that bypass port to 8096 on the local mb3 servers internal IP. When I use that in combination with my routers DNS service I get flawless playback with only mb3 bypassing my vpn tunnel.

 

The problem is when I come back home to my local network, the app resets the manual port override (that I specify) back to 8096. This works fine locally (with the internal IP or the Asus DNS address) but once I leave home I have to override the port settings back to the one that bypasses my VPN

The ability to set unique internal and external ports is already in the next version. Hopefully the beta process won't be much longer.

I just want to issue an update because I know a lot of you are waiting patiently for the next android release. We are all working hard on it and apologize that it hasn't gotten out sooner, but it is getting close so just hang tight a little longer. 

 

The good news is, it will be almost fully caught up to all of the latest server features, and it is quite honestly almost a whole new application and I know you're going to love it. You can name pretty much any server feature, and chances are the app has it now - live tv, channels, playlists, all of the latest transcoding improvements, particularly in regards to seeking, cpu usage, and text-based subtitles without transcoding. And it is using our new Chromecast receiver that the web client is using, which is going to be great because the new receiver manages itself entirely. You'll get a consistent Chromecast experience no matter which device you launch from, and you can change devices on the fly, from web client to android and vice versa, without disrupting anything that the receiver is doing.

 

So hang tight, we'll have it out for you soon.

Just want to give everyone a heads up.

 

Beta testing is in the final stages. We're no longer looking at weeks or months before the next release. Keep an eye out for the blog post in the days to come. There's so much going on, I think people will be very happy.
