Fairly recently, though don't know from which version, 1st gen FireTV won't play some 720p MKV video's. It plays DVD rips, plays Bluray rips, will play some 720's but not others. Didn't work on 1.2.11 and also not on the new version released on 16th July. The first below plays, the second doesn't, for example... Also see that latest version no longer indicates whether it is transocding / direct playing / anything at all (did show on 1.2.11).

Don't know if this is the correct forum, but anyway.... Using Emby to send video to a 1st gen FireTV box (not stick) via gigabit ethernet. Emby will direct play most stuff (up to 720p I think) but transcodes uncompressed bluray MKV rips. Would anyone happen to know if the 2nd gen FireTV will direct play this high bit rate stuff as well. So if I upgrade would it be a waste of money or not ?

Fire TV / Appropriate Location for Enhancement Feedback?
Tanamur posted a topic in Android TV / Fire TV
Hi Forum - I have a couple of requests/suggestions for the AFTV app interface. Where would be an appropriate place in the forum to submit these? Thanks @Tanamur -
I am currently running the emby server and I have two Kodi devices: 1 New Firetv and Idroidnation box running 5.1 Lollipop. Both Kodi versions are 15.2 When Running the emby add-on on Firetv , everything worked fine.. The library for Kode shows movies and tv shows on the main Kodi screen.. The Idroidnation box, not so much... It show emby under the video tab and I have to pick it to show the movies, sorta like when you share on an uPnP share. I have cleared and re-installed the add-on a mess of times, same outcome... Is this suppose to work like this on the android version of Kodi?? I am new to Kodi, I used to have Dune devices with My Movies, but Dune died and I could not resist the Kodi Interface anymore... Love Kodi and this software... Just wish I could get it to work the same ... Any Help would be highly appreciated.. Sandmaneo

Hi Yesterday I set up my Emby server. It is working great and I can use the WebApp though my Browser via http on port 8096 and via https on port 8920. Both is working. At first I used the self-signed certificate, but then I generated a valid certificate from "let's encrypt" for it, which is also working. But when using the Android-app or the Amazon-FireTV-Stick-App both can't connect to the https port. However, both are working great when using the http-port. I also tried both, using the self signed certificate and the let's encrypt one. Doesn't change anything... So: Http and Https are both working with the web app, but on Android and on the FireTV-Stick there is only http working. Any ideas what I may do wrong or what may be wrong with the apps?

Server: Version 3.0.5781.5 on Win10 Pro on i5 NUC w/16GB RAM Client: Version 1.1.29a on Amazon FireTV (Gen-1) Settings: VLC Playback Enabled with Buffer set to 3 sec Network: Server and Client both on Hardwired 100 Mbit/s I am noticing that when I start to play any video (mp4, mkv or avi) the first 2-4 seconds always start playing as a monochrome green color. This not a major thing but a bit of an unsightly distraction since it happens every time. Any suggestions on what to change to address this? Thanks, Tanamur

Any way to get this implemented into the next version? Ordered in number of importance. 1. A button on the remote that would have a "Flashback" feature to flip between two different channels. 2. Be able to use the D-Pad to tune into a channel number directly, rather than paging through the guide. 3. A mini guide, similar to Windows Media Center while watching Live TV. Thanks for all your hard work!

Here is my setup: HTPC Server ----------------- Windows Media Center 7/Server WMC v1.0.0.58 Build 1199 installed on one computer 2 Hauppauge Digital DCR-2650 (CableCARD) 2 ATI Theater 650 (OTA) Emby Server is installed on a separate box and I have the new FireTV 2015, as well as 2014 version. I am able to Direct Play all my media, TV Shows movies, etc which is on another NAS Box. However, I am unable to get the Direct Stream of Live TV working. The only way I am able to get it to work is to turn off Direct Stream Live TV on my Fire TV, then it will transcode the TV just fine. However, this is horribly inefficient, as this server will be hosting the whole house, with multiple people watching TV at once. Transcoding just isn't realistic. I would really like to get Direct Stream to work. Has any body got this successfully working? I've attached my ServerWMC logs and Emby logs. I appreciate any help you guys can offer.

Hi everyone! Today I've upgraded my homeserver build and started my library from scratch, as the old one was quite messy. As a part of that cleanup action, I also wiped my Kodi installation and tried installing everything from scratch again, including the Emby addon. The authentication against my Emby server seems to work great, however not a single sync occurs and all sections remain empty without any items. I am running the Emby Addon v1.1.55 together with Kodi Isengard 15.2. I've attached a censored logfile which I took after setting the loglevel of the addon to debug. Aside from an issue with OpenWeatherMap (Emby also doesn't work if I disable that addon), the following stacktrace seems to describe the actual problem: 22:07:47 T:1730315384 ERROR: Exception in thread Thread-7: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/home/jenkins/workspace/Android-ARM/tools/depends/xbmc-depends/arm-linux-androideabi-android-17/lib/python2.6/threading.py", line 532, in __bootstrap_inner File "/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/addons/plugin.video.emby/resources/lib/LibrarySync.py", line 1119, in run libSync = self.FullLibrarySync() File "/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/addons/plugin.video.emby/resources/lib/LibrarySync.py", line 74, in FullLibrarySync utils.createSources() File "/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/addons/plugin.video.emby/resources/lib/Utils.py", line 193, in createSources etree.ElementTree(root).write(xmlpath, method="html") TypeError: write() got an unexpected keyword argument 'method' Thanks in advance for your help, I hope that I didn't answer a stupid question Best regards NeoXiD kodi-20150811-2217.log

Hi, I've installed the Emby App for FireTV Stick and the app itself works really, really great! Unfortunately, as of today the app has stopped working in terms of playback. It says I have to either unlock or become a supporter, although the trial period cannot be over (since I installed the app for the first time a few days ago). As the actual app worked perfectly fine, I was going to perform the in-app purchase anyway, but here's my problem: After I log in the app, I select "unlock" and in the next screen "next". The app is loading shortly and I find myself in the main menu again where I've pressed "unlock" before (no error screens, etc.). Any Ideas? I've tried reinstalling the app and even did a reset of the FireTV Stick, but the issue is still coming up :/ Since everything else is working just fine, I think I can rule out any problems with the link to my amazon account, etc. Any help is appreciated! :-) /edit: I also confirmed that In-App purchases are enabled. /edit2: It seems the reset has at least helped with the trial issue: I can now use the trial version until 22nd of August. Unlocking still doesn't work, though.

Good Afternoon Folks, I currently have 2 FireTV boxes which have replaced PC's in the lounge and one in my guest room which doubles as a gym for myself saves me load of electricity! Emby on the FireTV is amazing for when I have friends staying over as they are always watching TV and Movies and comment on how good it is, as they say "I have my own personal Netflix" One thing I do miss is Music support when I'm training, currently I have Kodi installed with the Emby plugin which is a decent workaround but I'd love to see music support for the FireTV purely from Emby, I have a mild case of OCD so having to use another app slash workaround makes the eye twitch lol I don't like it when people bang on about ETA's but to calm my OCD knowing "it's on the cards" is good enough for me Keep up the good work everyone, Edd.

Hey, as the title suggests the Emby for Fire TV app on my (german) FireTV Stick suddenly expired even though I bought the unlock via inapp purchase a month ago. It seems to correlate with the FireTV system update I got a day before (54.1.2.0_user_120060220). In the app settings it shows "Version 1.0.53a Expired". On the backend I'm running a Ubuntu Server (Version 3.0.5641.5) and I'm able to play files to the same FireTV Stick via side-loaded Kodi with emby addons. The Unlock purchase is visible in my amazon account and I repeatedly uninstalled/installed the app as well as cleared cache/data of it. Reboots of the Stick nor the server brought any changes. I also tried to "sync content" from the FireTV settings. My connection to amazon seems fine, as I can stream movies. I'd appreciate any help. If you need any logs, please say so. PS: What I haven't tried yet: Can I go through the unlock purchase without actually rebuying it? I was asked for my PIN so I guess it would cost again? Google Play would have a "restore purchase" page popping up..

Hello, I've been using the XBMB3C addon with Gotham builds on multiple devices and really love it!!! So first of all, thank you so much for all the hard work in making this work so well. I've heard that many users of the Amazon FireTV get better performance from using the SPMC fork of XBMC from XBMC team member Koying. This is the build that is available on the Amazon and Google Play app stores. I was just curious if anyone was running the XBMB3C addon with SPMC or if any of the contributors to this addon had ever done any testing of the addon with SPMC? Thanks.
