You say that as if it's a bad thing, and as if server owners aren't capable of any logical directory structure on their own. Yet practically every other system I've tried (Plex, Jellyfin, WMC, Navidrome) are able to take the folder structure into account and do a much better job than Emby at auto organizing albums. I've spent a few hours in the past trying to bulk update meta tags and only put a small dent in what would be needed for my collection, so I gave up and made the sensible choice of switching to Jellyfin. It's like Emby was trying to innovate here for the sake of innovation, while completely ignoring industry standards and leaving everyone else behind. "Our music system works great! But only as long as your collection is perfectly tuned and setup exactly the way we want".

Emby server name changed, but it comes up with the OLD name on DLNA
Pri001 posted a topic in Synology
Hi, I recently changed my Synology server name. On DLNA, my music appears with the new server name, but the Emby folder still appears with the old Servername that does not exist. When I log in to Emby on the browser, I see the correct server name- so it is only on DLNA that this happens. Nowhere on my Synology can I find the old name of the network/external access or anywhere. I have cleared the cache on my app on the Android but no dice. what should I do? -

Emby on LG Smart TV (49NANO816NA) does not play some FLAC files
YDalu replied to YDalu's topic in LG Smart TV
Hello, Mp41 does not work hence my issue. I tried with mp42, that doesn't work either. I come back to your point about LG TVs. Also, I did a playback test with the TV's native audio player and... it works! So, it's the Emby app on LG TV that doesn't know how to play this type of audio file. I remind you that Emby on Android (11) or on PC (Linux Debian 12), reads the file correctly. -
If I close the emby app, I cannot start it again w/o uninstalling
sa2000 replied to phi303's topic in Android TV / Fire TV
I just tried the Emby Android TV app on the Shield - Version 2.1.10g and the app re loaded ok after going through - remote: Back key and then selecting EXIT on the Exit Emby? dialogue and then relaunching Emby. Must be something specific to your configuration. Is it just the one user account that you use ? Could I get more info on the setup and versions in use and maybe get Android app debug logs before the hang and also server logs with debug logging enabled beforehand - covering that period and when the app is restarted and hangs To get the android app debug logs - on the app Settings, select "General Display" and then scroll down until you get to "Enable debug options" and tick/select that. Then go back to the app screen and your account avatar and when that opens, you can choose Send Logs which will send them to emby. Note down the exact time and the emby user account being used. Then restart the app which you expect for it to hang - note down the time and now collect the server logs See this article on android TV logs and server logs -

They send Dolby Digital Plus 7.1 (lossy) with optional 'JOC' Atmos) - this is not the same as True-HD (with real Atmos) or DTS-HD / DTS:X (both lossless). No mainstream streaming service uses losssless audio. Having said that, the THD from emby should not be passed as Stereo - it should be encoded to AC3 (5.1) - but if you want the best available sound and want lossless/Atmos/DTS-X etc - then you need to not use the TV as the client - and use something like an Nvidia Shield Pro directly into your AVR via HDMI. (passing the 4K Video to your TV). See below (uses an LG TV as an example, but same rules apply) https://emby.media/support/articles/LG-Why-not-Atmos.html JOC Atmos - https://professionalsupport.dolby.com/s/article/What-is-Dolby-Digital-Plus-JOC-Joint-Object-Coding?language=en_US

psychedelicu replied to mcerss's topic in Samsung Smart TV
The auto update is on, why the app is not updating itself? -
Also the playback issue is presumably FireTV related.

Updated the client to beta 2.1.12g Repeated the previous scenario. All works well this time. I'm not sure that it always failed before, but this is positive. I'll let you know if there are further problems. In the mean time - thanks

PGS Subs embedded my MKVs get misplaced after hardware transcoding
Gecko replied to Nauclerus's topic in Linux
Jellyfin works better but has an ui ugly as hell for my taste and I do like the way Emby works with the skip intro functionality. I miss h265 encoding though… maybe I’ll give it a try again this year to see the improvements.- 21 replies

So a interesting one. it looked like there was a issue with the client speaking back to the server. I enabled SSL for the server and only allowed the ssl port through but i saw in the logs the client was trying to connect on the non ssl port and was getting a 404 error, or a 304 I have now run a nginx reverse proxy in from of the emby server and this seems to have resolved the issue. not getting any 304 or 404 errors anymore. This is strange since i have done this many times and only this time did if give me this error.

Subtitles going out of sync when transcoding sound

Any updates on this issue? I am also facing this with the LG Emby app. -
Thanks guys for your help. I've decided to leave the Profile icon up. When it's me logged in, I have the "Manage Emby Server" option. With other users, it is not available. Does anyone know what the CSS is to hide the "App Setting Emby Web 4.8.6.0" and Cog in the profile menu?

If I close the emby app, I cannot start it again w/o uninstalling
phi303 posted a topic in Android TV / Fire TV
It's the weirdest thing, on my nvidia shield, if I close emby i.e. hit the back button and hit 'yes' to exit - when I try and load emby again, it will just hang infinitely. same goes with hitting the home button twice and pressing down to remove the app from recent. the only way to get back into emby is completely uninstalling it and re-installing it, oddly going into storage and clearing data and cache doesn't do the trick (makes no sense to me). rebooting the shield also does nothing, it HAS TO BE an uninstall and re-install. IF I just hit the home button and let emby stay in the background and do whatever and go back into emby, it's totally fine so long as I didn't actually close emby. I'm completely dumbfounded by this because nothing makes sense to me. -

New server update changed the layout of all my collections!!
rexerm replied to Tenyrsgone27's topic in General/Windows
Hmm - didn't seem to have any effect when I tried on 4.8.6. Anything more than a reboot needed after editing? -
lol it just buffered once when saying that, on my phone
-
So far it seems like Turbo, testing it out, works really well on phone cellular data but on the tablet with hotspot for it there is still buffering. Who watches movies and tv shows on a phone though lol ? No offense.
-
Thanks. The only way to be sure or 100% no buffering is to put the media on the device itself sadly. To bad there is no way to do that automatically randomly transfer a original 4k copy video/movie/tv show on iPads from PCs
