screenplay for WebOS 2.0 and higher TVs

I have all the updates. It isn't actually WebOS 2. It is webos 1 with some features from webos 2.

which as I say, is why it will WORK on your TV, but it's currently not available for 1.x devices on the store because it doesn't seem to work on devices running 1.2. @@kwilcox is looking into it, but he needs help from someone running an old 1.2 device (assuming anyone is)

I have validated that version 1.4 is actually the v2.0 "compatibility update".  The final version of WebOS 1 is v1.3.

The app is not on the appstore for me, so I guess I am one of those people with a too old TV. I'd love to test this app, though. When I check the software version on my TV, it nowhere says which WebOS version I have. The only infos I get is:

-Software version: 04.28.14

-SDK-Version: 03.05

-Browser Version: 6.00.0......

I searched the Web a lot, howto identify my WebOS version, but couldn't find anything. I guess my 2013 LG 55LA6608 is simply too old. Any clues?

Your TV is not a WebOS TV unfortunately.

Yeah, thanks for the clarification. So, even if that other app for LG is eventually released, it won't be available for my TV. But that's fine. I am actually quite happy with my current setup. I have my TV connected to the pc anyway, so I just use a dedicated firefox window in fullscreen and start videos via DLNA play to. Works sufficiently well! :)

You could look in to pick up Android TV "Nexus Player, Shield TV or Mi Box", Apple TV, Fire TV or Roku

FYI: v1.1.9 pushed to the repo.  Bug fixes and added played indicator to episodes.  I've also got a request in to LG to see if I can make screenplay available on WebOS v1.4 (the WebOS 2 compatibility update) and higher.

Very interested in this as this is the position I'm in, how long do you think before you get a reply?

Screenplay doesn't support LiveTV.  Screenplay supports Media Libraries of type Movies and type TV.  For recorded content, you can also use Unset.

My inquiry hasn't  been viewed yet.  I believe S. Korea is celebrating the Lunar New Year currently.  Not sure how big a holiday it is for them.

Ok. Is this a planed feature? Thanks.

Screenplay is designed to be more of an existing content player.  I use emby's built in website for scheduling recordings etc, so really what's missing is live DVR playback delay capabilities.  I might do that at some point which would give you the ability to view a recorded program while it was still being recorded.

Hi, I'd really love to get Emby working on my LG TV its a low-end model (LG 32 Inch 32LH604V http://www.lg.com/uk/tvs/lg-32LH604V)but it does run webOS 3.0 and is 1920x1080 however I can't see screenplay in the store and when I try and get the device compatability on the lgstore website I get 'Sorry, this app is not compatible with your device.'

Is this because my model has this issue: 'app resolution is only HD (1080x720).'?

Hello, is it possible to connect to a https emby server?

Hi there @@pappaq, please try it out and report your experience. Thanks !

I just tested this and an immediate "Server Not Found" error is returned.  I'm not sure why this is but it might have something to do with the underlying LG handling of XMLHttpRequest().  Perhaps this is due to the self-signed default certificate that my server is using.  FTTB, you have to use http.

Yeah, I tested that before asking but thought, that you guys knew the issue. My question was more like: Is there a way to enter a https emby server? But unfortunatly there's not. It's no problem because I'm using my chromecast anyway. I just tried to take one peace of hardware out of there.

Thanks for the answers!

I also noticed this a few weeks ago.

I'm currently using your code via a web-browser and gitcdn.xyz:

https://gitcdn.xyz/repo/Nickbert7/screenplay/master/index.html

Because gitcdn uses https, I was not able to connect to my server via http.

I had to modify the server.js to be able to enter https:// in front of the server-URL.

This solved this issue:

FYI all: I have the go-ahead from LG and next release of screenplay will support WebOS1.4 and higher TVs.  They just need to fix up their file database and give me a version number to begin with...

I use one from Lets Encrypt.

So yes, the self signed cert could be the problem...

Would you like to test it with my server?
