What will actually become of MediaInfo for Emby when Dolby Vision info is integrated in the new server version 4.8?

Because I think it's cool if I can see in advance that the faulty DV5 has been loaded, then I can correct it in advance.

No change - the core is only adding DV, it is not adding any other recognition of the advanced audio codecs - Atmos etc.  And I suspect the core will not differentiate between DV5, DV7 and DV8 either.. 🤪

So can we continue to use the plugin?

I will be yes.

Recognising DV in the core will be useful for things such as transcoding - ie don't attempt to tone map a DV5 file for example.  A DV7 and DV8 will drop to HDR anyway - so nothing to be gained from recognising that.  If you have a DV capable TV - then it may also not accept DV7 playback, but I'm unsure if emby is going to have that layer of detail as I said above.

DV is unfortunately a bit of a nightmare full stop for media playback software ... 🤔

DV is just another pitiful attempt to stop piracy. But as we already know - new today, already cracked yesterday.

@rbjtech

@MAX92

What I forgot to mention:

Under Synology you have to give the internal system users "sc-mediainfo" and "sc-mkvtoolnix" read and write permissions to the folders, drives where the libraries are stored. Synology is very particular about this - needs an extra share for everything.

It is better to add it now than to have it not work later. In any case, it can't do any harm.

Probably because of the write permissions for "sc-mkvtoolnix". It was described also again here in this Threat, how one can let individual elements read in again extra, without having to read in completely again.

Before I posted a new message, I gave the permissions. Could you please give me the solution for let individual elements read again ? Thanks a lot

And you can find the ID of your video in the URL

image.png.25378f9a28255348f8164984c8255c17.png

But it may take a while until MediaInfo & MKVToolnix do their job and you can see it. You will have to be patient for a while.

thanks @Teddyknuddel

I try but I didn't succeed.

To give a feed back :

  1. Check the permission on my NAS :image.png.db97284adacb92fd9ea5d459d8403ef6.png
  2. take the ID EMBY  : 1253838
  3. Put in Reprocess Specific Itemsimage.thumb.png.125a99ba25c9d95f7b7afda74d4128f5.png
  4. Lauchimage.png.61cfe343c8266bd5895e840927ac1954.png
  5. Wait
  6. And check the result

As I said, it takes a while. Even quite a while - had that with me also only a few hours later in. After maybe 5 minutes, Emby/MediaInfo certainly hasn't updated it yet.

Calm blood, comfortably drink a coffee, maybe two or three - that will be fine👍

Check the emby log - if you turn on debug logging, it gives a detailed log of everything it changes.

To test, just use the 'reprocess' option on an individual item.

As above, changes will only get recognised by emby if real time monitoring picks them up, or you force with a item refresh.

Remember, the plugin is changing the MKV - it is not directly changing Emby - so it is up to Emby to then re-read the MKV to pick up the change.

@MAX92

Check from Windows with the program MediaInfo whether something was entered now in the title. If this is in here, then it is only up to Emby, until it was taken over.

Or also with MKVToolnix

Unfortunately that's a generic 'catch all' error - it's not going to tell us the exact issue.

Does the account running emby have write permissions to the MKV file ?

Is the file 'in use' - is something else using it perhaps ?

@rbjtechI already said here at that time that you still have to do that.

 Maybe you still take over that in your guide.

@MAX92

Let's do this differently:
You restart the NAS completely, not Emby, but the whole NAS.
You create a new directory for this movie and name it like this: Captain America The First Avenger (2011) tt0458339

Then you name the video that way: Captain America The First Avenger (2011) tt0458339.mkv
and move it into the new folder.

And then you delete the old movie folder.

Simply put - if it works on some titles but not others - then the issue is going to be file permissions on those files or the files are in use.  It uses the same 3rd party programs to make every change on the 'Title' substreams in each MKV - it just repeats it on each file.

Done but no changement.

I have a lot of my videos like this. Nevermind, it is a bonus. However I hate to not understand why It appends.
