    Can't Connect To Server

I want to install Emby Theater so that I can designate using an external media player that allows pass through of Dolby Digital, DTS HD etc. audio to my home theater receiver when I use Emby Android for Firestick. The problem is that I get an error message that Emby Theater can't connect to server. The Theater app isn't blocked by Windows Firewall, so why isn't it connecting to the server?
  2. I've been using Emby Theater for some time as the phone app and streaming to my bedroom TV. I would like to also use the phone app in my main system, but stream it to Firefox on my living room system. I would prefer to use an external player vs the player the browser uses because the player I use does pass through of Dolby Digital and DTS audio to my surround sound receiver. The question is: HOW do I set it up to enable an external player using Emby Theater?
  3. Hi, I have my Apple TV HD set to play Dolby Digital 5.1, and am trying to play media ripped from DVD into mkv h264 ac3. It is playing back as PCM. I have tried playing Dolby content from the Apple TV+ app, and it works fine. I believe this to be an issue with the Emby Theatre app. I am aware that mp4, mov and m4v are natively supported by the Apple TV. Emby Server is direct streaming to mp4 from what I can see. ffmpeg-directstream-b9a0b094-32e1-4d53-997b-8328c1cd5e67_1.txt
  4. I just got a new Sony BRAVIA (55 inch X90F - KD-55X9000F) yesterday and want to use the Emby app on it instead of the old HTPC running WMC and Emby Classic. The TV is running Android TV 7.0 and the Emby Server is currently version 3.5.3.0 on a Windows Server 2012 R2 machine. The audio system is an old Panasonic one with support for Dolby Digital and DTS and is connected via the optical out from the TV. The HTPC was connected to this system via optical out as well. Videos open fine from the Emby app on the new TV, but all audio is only being passed to the sound system as stereo instead of 5.1 as expected. Opening the same videos via the DLNA server from the TV has the audio pass to the audio system correctly as Dolby or DTS. Playing UHD Blu-rays from my Sony UBP-X700 passes the audio as expected as well. Most of my Blu-ray rips have been encoded as HEVC/H.265 with DTS-HD MA as MKVs, while DVD rips are the same with Dolby Digital or DTS audio. I have also tested using H.264 encoded videos. A log file from playing my rip of Avatar is attached. Any help with getting the digital audio working would be appreciated. ffmpeg-transcode-cc814e6f-523b-4cc3-b874-0d6e62ecf044.txt
  5. Hello there Emby Team, Using my HDHomerun Extend, the option to "Automatically convert recordings to a streaming friendly format" used with the option "Preserve original audio when converting recordings (when possible)" creates a file, either mp4 or mkv, with the original ac3 (dolby digital) audio track. This file usually needs transcoding if sending to a player without ac3 capabilities. What I'm proposing is what I used to do for my AppleTV/iOS files. Basically have two audio tracks in the file. One being a converted aac 2-channel track as well as the original ac3 track from the HDHomerun. That way we can maybe avoid some transcoding as the server would choose which audio track to play based on the output capabilities? If ac3 capable, choose the ac3 track, if not ac3 compatible like on web browsers, ios and some players, choose the 2-ch aac track. Does this sound like a possible feature? Thanks for your time. Marc
  6. Hi, I have not been on the community for a while, which generally means I am happy with my system, and busy watching movies (as was designed)... However, I have always had this problem with playing Dolby Digital audio movies.. it just crashes my entire WMC... it does a complete restart (so, maybe you can call it graceful crash). Was not a big problem in the past as majority of movies are 2 track AAC... but recently, all my movies are in Dolby Digital, which is a Problem... Initially, (1 year ago), i though it must be codec problem, and i played with that, and asked everyone to help, including Shark007, whom codec package i am using, with no success... I was experimenting yesterday, and i decided to try to "switch off" the new look player on Emby, i.e. use the default WMC player interface, and guess what... the crashes stopped... So, it appears that the Emby interface player has a bug when playing Dolby Digital Audio... here is how to recreate this problem. play a Dolby digital 5.1 movie, and it will work fine initially, but if you try to skip forward using chapter or even just skip button, initially, it will slow the video down, and sometime (1 out 5 times) it will crash the entire WMC, and it will restart WMC again. I understand that Emby for WMC is not a focus right now, as WMC is not developed further, but it sure would be nice if this can be fixed... many thanks
  7. I read in the App Status thread that the Amazon platform will generate transcoding from DTS to DD. But that thread says nothing about this specific feature for the Google platform. Does this occur for Android TVs? My surround sound is part of my Blu ray player that does not natively support DTS, only DD. Occasional I've had to change my app settings to downmix to stereo even though I have 5.1 capabilities... because of DTS.
