Got this problem too. I already hated the new app since its release (it's sooo slooow), but this is so annoying now I have to use the Browser to watch without going nuts... -

I see this in your logs Are you using VPN or is your firewall / security software blocking you ? Or are you having DNS issues ? Some movies not showing up in Emby- Round 2
pwhodges replied to ServerNoob005's topic in General/Windows
Another slight complication (at least with Redline) is that the databases can change their data. This clearly happened with Redline on TMDB, because my metadata, which came from there at some time in the past, displayed the year as 2010 (although I'd specified 2009); but when I refreshed the metadata a few minutes ago, this was updated to 2009. SN, If you are dealing with MKV files, the subs may easily be extracted and a copy of the media can also be made without any subs at all using mkvtools. That app may have a way to automatically run through hundreds of media files and do the tasks for pulling out the subs and making a media copy without subs. FFMpeg full install would probably be able to have a script that does that automatically for however many media you want to do. Doing one at a time, takes under 4 minutes for even a slow workstation. You are not reencoding anything, just pulling out the subs and creating copy without subs. If you have many to do, it would be worth to figure out an automatic script. Do the math you can see that a script can do perhaps 15 to 20 an hour, on it's own. Top speed server, that would be 10 times faster. A script does them all with one click. It's hard to complain it's too much work. You just have to learn how to do it. If you need to convert sup files, typically from blu-rays to .srt, you can do that with an online subtitletools page. Keeping sup files is really only useful for foreign languages with many special characters. Use the new media copy with no subs embedded and replace the old version in your emby library. Your new separate subs only need to follow the file naming rules and they will appear, easily on each media page, your delays will be a thing of the past. Everything should playback and no more subtitle delay issues. Hope that helps.

brothom replied to ServerNoob005's topic in General/Windows
Absolutely. These are basically autonomous systems and it's our job to use them as intended. Even if that can cause some confusing situations sometimes. That's when we can manually identify via Emby or via the tag in the file / folder. I'm still wondering about the other media entries OP was talking, I'd like to know if those cases were the same as Redline's. -
background image on the login page, is it possible?
visproduction replied to gueburah's topic in Web App CSS
BW, Try making a background image in some area that few people see, like in a movie library / Folders / 3 dots / Add image Once you have a new image, then go to that poster thumbnail: 3 Dots / Right click / Open in New Window Then use the URL link for this image from emby/... and leave off the &quality=70 Set you css code to look like this: background-image: url(../emby/Items/4076/Images/Backdrop/3?tag=91b36f14d99cfbd46ecccc19d31f329a); This way, the background will stick and you won't have to update it when the Emby version update happens. -

I have a server hosting movies and music. Up until now everything has been great. New movies talked to their metadata sources to get data and new music talked to MusicBrainz to get new artist data. I have made no changes to my router or anything on the server side. The only change made was getting Emby Premiere. Now when I add new music it will not talk to MusicBrainz to pull new artist metadata. However, when I add new movies it Will pull from their metadata downloaders. If i try to manually Identify anything Music with a MusicBrainz ID, it cannot even locate it. if I try to manually Identify movies, it will find them just fine. Up until I got Premiere it was locating MusicBrainz as the last working one was 2 days before getting Premiere. I have gone through post after post and agree that blocked connections are usually Firewall, DNS, something blocking it. But with it working perfectly one day, no router changes, and the movie side still working, I am stumpted on how to fix this. I even created a new test library within the server to see if something possibly got corrupted in the original one and the new one will not reach MusicBrainz either. When I pull the logs and see the line it is using... 2025-07-14 10:45:53.076 Info HttpClient: GET https://musicbrainz.emby.tv/ws/2/artist/?query="Holly Dunn"&dismax=true ... and I test the link manually on my system it will not load. But a direct ping to MusicBrainz works fine. I then created another test library and only selected AudioDB but according to the logs it still wants to pull from MusicBrainz. 7/6 was the last time I added artists and it worked. 7/9 is when I upgraded to Premiere. 7/11 I noticed it no longer connecting. I am out of ideas. full log for today's frustrations attached. embyserver.txt

Philips smart tv - TitanOS - Emby app?
xPencho replied to Papiscze's topic in Non-Emby General Discussion
Emby's team knows how to post an app, the problem is Titan OS team has to give you perms for development and then QA your app. And they are completelly unresponsive. Edit for more content: TBH, I dont understand why are they that busy, since they are not publishing any apps anyway... -
Some movies not showing up in Emby- Round 2
Happy2Play replied to ServerNoob005's topic in General/Windows
It works the the same way as I showed in web query above. So Emby will take the first result in the query returned from the api so the Redline (2010) example will always be wrong. The api query { "page": 1, "results": [ { "adult": false, "backdrop_path": "/5QV9uotDRFbeik7tkCcKo96yvWt.jpg", "genre_ids": [28, 53], "id": 16392, "original_language": "en", "original_title": "Redline", "overview": "A gorgeous young automobile fanatic--and front to the hottest unsigned band on the West coast--finds herself caught up in illegal drag-racing competitions organized by exotic car fanatics", "popularity": 1.4517, "poster_path": "/lE1XfidwJml7lNGi0D4KlB8uQFY.jpg", "release_date": "2007-04-13", "title": "Redline", "video": false, "vote_average": 5, "vote_count": 153 }, { "adult": false, "backdrop_path": "/cftD8o34P6N8zTwySfaaMnaNkTT.jpg", "genre_ids": [16, 28, 878], "id": 71883, "original_language": "ja", "original_title": "レッドライン", "overview": "A daredevil driver is determined to compete in Redline, the most popular race in the galaxy. The race only occurs every five years, but in order to participate he must overcome the mafia, the government and even love.", "popularity": 2.0215, "poster_path": "/yUkH0y9OsY7J08Dvfzi1P0di559.jpg", "release_date": "2009-08-14", "title": "Redline", "video": false, "vote_average": 7.52, "vote_count": 501 } ], "total_pages": 1, "total_results": 2 } Now querying Redline 2024 will provide the correct result. Along with Redline 2009. { "page": 1, "results": [ { "adult": false, "backdrop_path": "/cftD8o34P6N8zTwySfaaMnaNkTT.jpg", "genre_ids": [16, 28, 878], "id": 71883, "original_language": "ja", "original_title": "レッドライン", "overview": "A daredevil driver is determined to compete in Redline, the most popular race in the galaxy. The race only occurs every five years, but in order to participate he must overcome the mafia, the government and even love.", "popularity": 2.0215, "poster_path": "/yUkH0y9OsY7J08Dvfzi1P0di559.jpg", "release_date": "2009-08-14", "title": "Redline", "video": false, "vote_average": 7.52, "vote_count": 501 } ], "total_pages": 1, "total_results": 1 } But in the end it is best to use the year provide on the website for best results but there are many cases where IMDB/TMDB/TVDB can have different release years for any content. So there can never be one method that works for everything. I guess technically there can be it requires manual work of already knowing the provider id. Redline (2010) {tmdbid=71883} -
Watched states don't sync reliably with server for Downloaded media
Modify3453 replied to Modify3453's topic in Android
Lately it has been working fairly well most of the time by simply exiting the Emby app entirely when finished/returning home however something like 30% of watched episodes do not have their watch state synced so I end up having to manually go through this process to clear them out on a regular basis (like every week there's something like 6 or more downloaded files stuck on my phone which I watched, but the server is unaware of that). For example, I sync a show (8 episodes), watch those in about 2 days, each day 1 (+/-) episode isn't cleared but the rest are (and it's random), so on day 3, episodes 1-3 are watched and deleted, but 4 is watched and stuck, 5-8 are watched, but 7 is stuck, rest are deleted. So then I have 4, 7 and 9-14 on the phone. This cycle generally repeats but different random episodes get stuck. Eventually the servers ability to automatically pull in new episodes is killed by retaining watched files the server thinks are unwatched and I have to manually mark as watched and re-save the series sync profile to get new episodes. -
Some movies not showing up in Emby- Round 2
brothom replied to ServerNoob005's topic in General/Windows
I would like to disagree. TMDB probably has a rule to have at least one "main" release year and in this case that's 2010. Regardless of any localised release date. In your example it might be the case that countries that didn't have a release of "The Thing" from 1982, will get a re-release in 2026 which in turn makes that the main release for that country. This same goes the TVDB and is probably a good thing because otherwise there can't be any standardisation from an API or search perspective. If the API's would work as you suggest, we would probably never be able to find any movies release around new-years because one date would be in December and the other in January. -
@ebryes I found that thread as well but then realised something pretty quickly, for example: Create Star Wars collection chronological: Movie 1, Movie 2, Movie 3, Movie 4, etc... Create Star Wars collection by release date: Uh-oh! This only works when creating a single sort order and this most likely is used in search as well, right? Creating a specific order for a specific item within a specific collection would be much more applicable to many more scenarios. Also the bulk-edit function for playlists would be a really, really nice-to-have because the current multi-select in the playlist doesn't really add any functionality at the time, other than removing items which someone will probably do barely.

The lack of officially supported procedures for enabling secure remote access
Neminem replied to mausfield's topic in General/Windows
@Tank_Killer@mausfield that the issue. Not every setup is equal / similar, it would be impossible to make a guide to fit all. Some users don't know what network is or care, they have never logged into there router, and are still using the "factory default password" How would you ever make a guide that fits them ? Not even speaking of the different router interface, where some might change with each firmware iteration ? Then there are the different network setup behind the router, OS, Firewall, security software and reverse proxy setups. etc...... But you could start by making a guide to rule them all- 7 replies
