I see a couple errors related to deleting a folder from transcoding-temp but I'm not sure if these errors really mean anything. Can you try clearing any folders in your transcoding-temp folder? Assuming no one has an active transcoding stream going it's safe to remove anything in that folder. Also, if you try to play without subtitles does it work? That's the reason for the transcode. 2024-04-17 09:08:35.221 Error EncodingManager: Unable to delete temp folder C:\emby.windows\transcoding-temp\DC5D96 due to Access to the path '\\?\C:\emby.windows\transcoding-temp\DC5D96' is denied., will try again. 2024-04-17 09:08:45.365 Error EncodingManager: Unable to delete temp folder C:\emby.windows\transcoding-temp\FA549F due to Access to the path '\\?\C:\emby.windows\transcoding-temp\FA549F\FA549F_Fonts' is denied., will try again. The only difference between the flavors really is which desktop environment is pre-installed. Technically you can have multiple desktop environments and it's even possible to switch between them but it's probably not a good idea to have more than one. For the most part, with regards to Emby administration, you're going to be working out of a terminal anyway, which you can do from your Windows PC too via SSH, so it doesn't really matter which one you pick. Unless of course you want to learn to use a linux desktop more, then you should go with a desktop environment that you like to work with and that might take some experimentation. MATE and Cinnamon are fairly lightweight, as well as XFCE - Gnome and KDE are heavier but may seem more modern/polished. Also if you install Ventoy on your USB you can copy multiple live ISO to it and boot each one to see which DE you like, you don't have to put just one ISO onto the USB it lets you boot from any number of ISO.

My guess is that VLC handles m3u8 playlist files and goes to the correct local media file. Emby is probably not doing that. Open the m3u8 file to see the issue better. It is usually just a list of other media file names that tells the software, go here and play it. See: https://www.lifewire.com/m3u8-file-2621956 If you put the actual media .mkv file inside a designated library that Emby sees, then it should show up as an available media file. Be sure to use the exact title with the year that imbd.com uses, with any extra - 720P like this. Double Indemnity (1944) - 720P.mkv Hope that helps.

Does anyone else have a G1 or newer that could help me reproduce the error on their device?
-
Sorry - that was what i did in first place. I am wondering about the long waiting time for the other TV. Thats the same behavior on a 2018 C model of a friend of mine.

Emby Android TV subtitle position
Youthanasia replied to Youthanasia's topic in Android TV / Fire TV
btw, Jellifin does it fine too... So Emby is the odd one out. Hoping it gets fixed, this is a dealbreaker for me and my Emby Premier Lifetime Purchase... -

Thank you for this, it makes sense. Logically, I should go for the mainstream approach. If, like you said, I DO run into issues I could try MATE or whatever. I'll rebuild my USB drive (Rufus 4x) with the current Cinnamon and try to find something to keep my mind off the pending delivery date.

Rebooting did not help. I still have this problem. I use threadfin. I am removing this to to see if it might be part of the problem.

Found it and fixed it.. took a bit to get it to appear in the logs THANKS -
That would make for quite a nice Emby server. The quadro p400 won't be of much use. Don't make the mistake that many new to Linux do and go for YouTuber distros. Unless you have a specific known reason to deviate then stick with major distros and current products. Cinnamon is the more current desktop and likely has better support for your HTPC needs. But if you run into dead ends then by all means try other things.

disable skip intro for specific tv shows?
Junglejim replied to sylvio2000's topic in Feature Requests
Personally I'm interested in the opposite and that is turn intro skip on for just one/new selected series. I don't want to run this through my whole TV library when I don't need to. -
tattler started following Emby container running on Synology - DTS-HD MA transcoding issue
-
Hi good day, I am running Emby in a container on Synology and it is working flawlessly. Recently I discovered something very strange with transcoding of DTS-HD MA/TrueHD when viewing a video in CCWGTV (Chromecast with GoogleTV). The movie has 2 audio streams: DTS-HD MA and AC3 5.1. If I start the video with the default audio DTS-HD MA, it gets transcoded correctly in Emby for AndroidTV if I set the option "Transcode incompatible audio to AC3". If I switched the audio to AC3 while playing, it is direct-playing. But when I switched the audio back to DTS-HD MA, it is still direct-playing the audio instead of transcoding it. This is very strange. I also tried the standard Android version (not for Android TV), DTS-HD MA is not getting transcoded at all! My SONOS Playbar does not support DTS anyway so Emby client should trigger the transcoding to AC3. Using the standard Android version on the Android tablet it is behaving correctly: switching AC3 => DTS-HD MA => audio gets transcoded. I am running Emby client on CCWGTV and the following versions: Emby server: 4.8.3.0 Emby Client: Emby for Android TV 2.1.10g Emby Client: Android Emby 3.3.77 I have attached server log from Emby. Please let me know what else do you need to troubleshoot this issue. Investigating a bit further, it is more likely that the ATV view is correct with square images and the web app should be displaying them square as well. For now I've removed this change in ATV to force them to portrait and have left them as they are in your screen. Let's review this issue after the next server update and see how they compare.

If it's crashing on trying to load the TV overview then that is odd. Try forcing a full refresh of the metadata for that file from the server (and allow it to replace existing images). It may not help, but worth a try - nothing to lose.

Finished TV Shows Repopulate back into the Continue Watching section
ebr replied to BMD28's topic in Android TV / Fire TV
Hi. Does that mean that, when you looked at it, it was marked unwatched? If so, that is the reason. Do you have any plugins (like Trakt) that might be messing with your watched states? -
Thank you! And thank you for your distribution recommendation - I was leaning toward Mint as it seems to be the most novice-friendly, so it's great to have someone who knows what they're doing recommend it. Now I'm thinking what FLAVOR of Mint to install and I'm leaning toward MATE instead of Cinnamon. Time will tell, I guess. I found a refurb which hopefully won't take forever to arrive because I'm chomping at the bit to get going on this. It's nothing to write home about, but should be sufficient for a good test setup of Linux and Emby. Hi. In case you don't realize it, this is a global user option. You set it once (anywhere) and the settings follow you to all the apps. So, you can use the web app or your phone to set this one time, and the Apple TV app will display the sections you chose.

I'm not sure. But I can look into it.
