TVDB Api Issues

It seems the only way I can get "current" metadata images from TVDB (meaning any of the 3 sets at the bottom of a series page, like this one for example: https://thetvdb.com/series/its-always-sunny-in-philadelphia) is to manually download them and add them to each show myself.

 

Doing a "Replace all Metadata" with "Replace existing images" checked seems to just pull back the same old series image, that isn't one of the 3 on the TVDB series page. I'm curious if anyone else is having this same issue in specific?

There are only 3 displayed but when you click "view all" there are like 24.  But their voting/favorites system is somewhat broke right now also.  I can only assume you are getting the first image they returned.

 

This appears for every image in their api (that I have seen).  There are a few topics on their forum on this.

Yep that sounds right and is what I'm thinking as well.

 

In the past typically it would grab the most recent (or perhaps most voted, I guess) image(s) for metadata download and right now it is probably just picking the first one out of the list of all of them, likely being the oldest.

 

So i guess hopefully my issue will likely just "fix itself" whenever they get their API/voting system sorted?

Only issue should be seasons images, and library scan series updates.  You many need to go over a specific example.

Oh, so I must have a problem then. It is not a specific example. It's everything. All new episodes I add to any series, don't get episode info or episode image.

Have you tried Refreshing Metadata for a Series Search for Missing metadata?

No I did not. I will do some tests with dummy libraries later.

 

...But now I'm thinking, I'm one of those who lost his library with the new version and had to do a full re-scan.

When I did the rescan, did it get all the information from the web or locally from the old library?

 

If it got everything again from the web, I don't understand how all the old episodes have the metadata but not the new ones that I add currently.

It depends on where your metadata is stored? If with media then is should be read, with if database only then more then likely the web and possibly broke metadata depending on what was actually returned from TVDB at the time.

If I remember right before the v3 update the metadata was scraped first in selected language, then in default english language to complete..

Can someone give some clarification on the impacts of Emby when it comes to the current issues with the TVDB API ?

 

For example, if someone did a clean install and setup TV library, what data from TVDB would they be seeing, compared to what they wouldn't be seeing?   The same for when a new show is added to an existing TV library.

 

I see there are updates to the TVDB plug in and mention of having to manually update each TV show in the metadata section, but was still confused on when the manual updating needed to take place, etc.

Yes the TVDB plugin has been update to work with issues at TVDB.  But there are outstanding issues like being able to update series daily with the library scan, season images have issues, and several language and metadata issues.  There is still a lot that need done on TVDB's side still.  So I don't see 100% functionality for quite awhile.

yes, according to tvdb forum the issue is resolved but emby is not pulling the artworks anymore...

 

going to edit image and searching for season poster doesn't return anything..

I believe it is still a metadata issue as there is no season information being returned in the banners.xml from the zip files.

 

As some of cached metadata still contain season info and when new zip is pulled that information is not returned.

 

Querying their new api the information is returned.

Opened a new topic on TVDB about the issue in the zip Banners.xml versus the link Banners.xml.  But there are several topics where they have mentioned an actual cache issue with information that is being returned.

if for example I have only the title translated in italian emby show me only the title, not the plot in english as before..

 

the question is 'cause I don't know how different metadata language are scraped..

in the it.xml I should expect the mixed language information? (italian title, english plot)

If you are pulling a it.xml then you have download language set to italian.  Now if information is not available @@Luke would have to explain the language fallback scenario.
