I've done a "remove server" then add server... got the 'welcome message' and did NOT see the restricted error... its now adding libraries. Given the improvements in init scan speed shouldn't be too long. I'll report back if it's still an issue. thx mate.

Had a crash part way through init scan.

The stacktrace log is:

restarted Kodi and seems to have finished the init sync without further trouble.

Looks like Kodi crashed, not the plugin. Last I see, Kodi was scanning the database. Could be related to the large amount of data Kodi tried to process after init sync.

However, should not affect the sync, but check if the content is completely synced.

btw, it's a good practice to sync in a staggered manner for really large libraries (100.000+).  -> Not all at once. It depends on the resources/performance of the Kodi box.

Kodi has issues and there is nothing I could do about. The plugin can only use workarounds for actual Kodi limitations. Staggered sync helps.

Speaking of Kodi bugs. Did nobody spotted Kodi's episode bookmark issues. It's there since ever and probably never gonna fixed.

I write some workarounds to fix (at least) some of it by next version.

Actually after reinstalling kodi from scratch and checking twice android permissions never had an hang on stop or resume point issue.

I left embyforkody default settings for most.

I did't disabled http2.

I disabled path replacement, but don't think it was the culprit since I enabled it only few times and didn't seems to change anything...

Seems really fixed after reinstalling everything.

I left default addon settings so http/2 is on.

Never had a freeze on stop or and of video.

Also disabled path sobstitution (but don't think it was the culprit).

Yet another dim question, but this 8.2.8 enables Kodi to talk to the Emby server ? Is this 8.2.8 plugin a Kodi repository I add to Kodi ?

You can use the zip files to add the repositories to Kodi, or you can follow the instructions in the link to add them manually.

I gotta say I steered away from Next Gen the past couple beta releases then I decided today to make a Kodi 20.2 fork and install Next Gen 8.2.8 along with Arctic Horizon 2 skin. Lets just say I am impressed with how well it works. Thanks @quickmicfor all your hard work on it. Btw folks u might wanna update to Kodi 20.2 it seems to have fixed the crashing bug that was in previous releases of Kodi 20

with the 20.2 regular download on kodi does it have dolby vision? i usually get the development Nexus builds but am always confused on which one is needed

and is there still a problem playing trailers?

Arctic Horizon 2 is amazing , so customizable and i don't even understand how half of the options work :)

Emby was correct. It was likely as @meeee2020said, failed init sync. I.e. kodi crashes during the initial sync, i just restart kodi (not knowing it existed unexpectedly) and it "picks up" the initial sync and keeps going... looking successful when it's done but clearly not. But this is all a loose guess and vague memory on my part.

Seems 8.2.8 has no more major issues. I wait for a couple more days for feedback and also perform some additional edge case testing. But I think I'll tag this version as stable in the next days.

Well,... you say that but...

Had a wierd db scramble happen on that same shield. TV and Movies libraries vanished. DB reset, didn't work, factory reset didn't work, had to uninstall  E4K before the db would reset.  In the process of re-re-re-init sync. NO idea how to share logs from the shield so can't provide that info unless there are simple instructions on how to.

Using 8.2.8 native mode, intro-skip does not seem to work.The dialog never appears and I have tried both interface options. It was working in previous versions.

Can you please check if Emby server still has skip Intro info (are they working on WebUI).
