I have Emby installed on my LG smart TV and on Windows 10 I use Chrome (Emby Web 4.4.3.0). My movies are all on a NAS and all devices are in the same network. When I start the app on my TV or on Chrome and select a 4K movie, it starts playing but stops after 2 seconds. Then, 6 seconds later, the movie continues to play for about 3-5 seconds and stops again. 1080p movies play without any issue and it doesn't seem to be any internet problem. Just got a Amazon Fire TV and was pleasantly surprised at how much content can be natively played. Thanks for all the hard work. I have been having a problem with SRT subtitles that are muxed into .mkv's not being able to be played back. I couldn't find any info on how Amazon Fire inputs/outputs subtitles, is there any hope that SRT subtitles will work without transcoding? Right now all my files just say "Subtitles loading...." and then it fails I tried to turn subtitles off on a file I was playing and it wouldn't allow me to. Normally I would be ok with subtitles always on (that is how I set it) but given that it is the difference between transcoding and direct streaming - it would be nice to turn off. If you try to turn it off, it goes to the loading circle (if you check emby server dashboard it says direct streaming) stays there for a moment and then goes back to displaying subtitles (emby server dashboard says transcoding). the Subtitles are: hdmv_pgs_subtitle

I just noticed that direct streaming is not working on any devices. Here's the log. I'm going to TL;DR this: Symptom: -Live TV on Leelbox Master, the program info on the bottom would flicker and not go away. -Live TV on Leelbox MQX Pro, same thing. -Live TV on NVIDIA Shield, same thing. -Live TV on computers are fine. Live TV via HDHomeRun app on Leelbox is fine. Observation: -Log was getting spammed hard: 1-2 KiB/s. The spamming stopped when stopping Live TV. -Only occurs in Live TV. Watching recording is fine. -Leelbox is running old version of Emby. Shield is running latest. -Swapped the two (because one is wired and one is wireless) and all three devices did the same thing. First of all, let me say that I searched the forum and haven't found anything that covers this topic. I have a few questions regarding the setup of Emby together with Kodi when they are running on the same machine, to be precise, a headless Ubuntu-based HTPC. I scanned my video files to Emby, they show up just fine on the server side. Emby fetches all the artwork properly, including extrafanart and extrathumbs. I use the Kodi addon (1.1.53) and want to get direct playback running as smooth as possible. As said, Kodi runs on the same device with the same user and same filesystem access. But now a few questions arise: 1. Do I need the option to use local paths instead of Emby redirection enabled? When I do not enable that option, Kodi does not see the extrathumbs Emby provides because the skin needs the actual filepath to see them. 2. Will a path substitution solve the issue mentioned above? My video files are stored under /media/Media, will a substitution /media/Media -> /media/Media make a difference? 3. And, next big issue: I know that Kodi handles music different from the video files. How will path substitution and direct playback work here? How does the add-on provide the music cdart to Kodi? Will it set the item.art(discart) property? Again, the problem is that the skin I use right now needs the actual filename path for cdart, extrafanart and extrathumb. It would not be a big problem to change the skin a little, but right now I just don't now how because I don't know what artwork is provided to the music.db directly and which not.
