Hello TMCsw and thank you for your reaction. I have already broken 1 disk by switching too quickly between the Shield and the PC. I was told why on another forum and now I'm very cautious. I use the Shield to view the HDD on the TV. My PC is also connected to the TV by a HDMI cable (I cloned the PC screen and the TV screen). If I want, I can watch my external HDD on the TV via the PC (and therefore Emby from the PC) No problem. BUT In this case, my PC must be turned on (of course) and consumes much more electricity (here in France it is expensive) than the Shield. This is why I would rather use the shield. PS: The shield is always turned off when I'm not using it. For your explanations, that's very kind, but as I've already written, I'm not a professional. I don't understand much of all your explanations. I am rephrasing my problem differently. LET’S FORGET THE PC. I have a Shield. It has an external HDD with lots of movies on it. Is it possible to put Emby on said Shield to read the HDD with a personalized presentation (posters, sorting order, etc.)? If it is possible, how should I proceed? I downloaded Emby Android TV from the store. Who can tell me SIMPLY what I should do now?

Thank you for your replies. My hardware is the zappiti one 4k hdr. I don't have a NAS, so looking at an alternative to the zappiti video app for a gallery and metadata experience. The licence route with emby is okay, if indeed it would function on my player? I've installed the emby server on my player but it opens up in the Chrome browser on my zappiti and isn't ideal. I've read about jellyfin and kodi but as a newbie, I'm not sure if they would work on my zappiti? Thanks again

Hi Luke, The standard Android version does not display the message. in iPhones, Windows and Samsung phones the message does not appear. Seems to be the one for Android TV only. I only have nvidia shields. I cant say if it is Nvidia shield specific or generic. This is cosmetic - the app works perfectly fine. Thanks. Regards, Paulo

Update: If i remove the new /shows library, the duplicated "continue watching" entries still stay: But the entries from the new /shows library are gone. These are all the duplicates with the old, nonexisting /tv path.

oh one more point - as I'm not sure that this is visible in the server logs - I'm running DSM7 not DSM7.2 as my Synology is quite an old model (DS1815+) and cannot take 7.2. you do have different packages for these two DSM versions so I thought this may be important!

Weird things happening: I removed the TV library and deleted the old path mapping in the container (the /tv folder) and created a new mapping called /shows. Before creating the new library i let emby scan the library. After that i restarted emby and created the new library pointing to the new path "/shows". Emby took a few hours to get all the metadata again, but the problem still persists and is even worse: For testing purposes, i added two new shows after i created the new /shows library, to see if it will still happen with newly added shows. And yes, it does. There's a difference in how the old shows get displayed, tho: Old shows have two different thumbnails! Furthermore, the duplicated entry shows the OLD path, which doesn't even exist anymore for the emby container. If a user tries to open the duplicate, they now get an error that the file can't be found. Old path that gets shown on the duplicates: New and correct path: I added the old path mapping back for testing purposes. If i delete the duplicate entry, it actually deletes the file in the new /shows folder. (Physically they're the same folder, so that makes sense.) It's still weird to me that it still shows the old path since the library doesn't even exist anymore in emby. I'm out of ideas.

Just replace « 3840:2160 » by « 1920:1080 » in the plugin and don’t bother with the canvas text… unfortunately, everytime Emby restarts, you’ll have to remember to set those 2 texts again in the plugin.

Messed up how? Could you consider adjusting your file numbering to match TVDB, if that's the problem? Have you checked whether TVDB has the order you require as DVD order, for instance? Paul

Consider that my A/V amplifer with other media (DVD, Bluray, MKV files etc.) work fine in DTS mode, only with this ripped files don't switches DTS mode

Yep, "this is the way". What a great piece of software this is! Just peeved I have not loaded this before now. I really like the "match" feature to pull in the meta, then there's is a "Quick Embed" option to write that meta to file (tags).. Gold! I think there is a option to merge multi chapter mp3 books to m4b format with chapter info? Haven't tested that yet because I have no media like that.

So it's not very practical. Hopefully Luke will get to the root of the problem.

Sure, many of us have 1000s of albums, with varying levels of metadata completeness. But repeating that you have hundreds of problem albums doesn't really help other community members with giving you some possible useful ideas of how to fix your specific problems. If it is a matter of older ripped compilation albums missing a "Various Artists" Album Artist tag, then this can be easily rectified in Mp3tag: Load in a batch of Albums (not your whole library - pick a folder from your good structure) Click on the Album Artist column to sort by Album Artist Select the blank ones as a group Add "Various Artists" to the Album Artist field in the LHS Tag Panel Save the changes Rescan the relevant folder in Emby from the folder tab (or refresh metadata - I never remember which to use!) If the problems are something else, then another solution is needed! Fixing the metadata of (say) 500 albums could be carried out in 50 days (spend 1 hour a day fixing 10 albums). Even if Emby could implement a request that would help, it might not be easy and may not be high priority, so you could be waiting for years! I don't have that much patience and will happily use third-party programs and 'workarounds' to get Emby to display my media, my way! For me, it's important to have consistency between my embedded metadata and my Emby database BUT I don't want Emby changing the metadata of my media. I would prefer to have complete control over this with third-party applications designed especially for this. Therefore, perhaps a different viewpoint on how the Emby UI should operate? Yeah, it's annoying with all the errors that need fixing, so Emby would "kinda suck" for you right now, I guess? Anyway, with your programming background, I expect you'll figure it out, one way or another!

Pero haz considera que quizás sea algún disco duro que este fallando, por lo tanto la tardanza sea por los errores de lectura. Podría ser que una o varias películas estén corruptas. Por si acaso checa el SMART de tus discos quizás te de información útil.
