Live TV Guide Changes in Emby Server 3.6

Sweden is probably a small market but I have no problem to pay for the listings, as I do now.

How many Swedish channels are there you need EPG for ?

I guess my only concern would be that 3.6 is released and working properly before SD cuts the API off. I've got a whole year before my SD sub runs out.

Will we still be able to use external Apps like Xteve to manage our guides and Map Channels? (The New Emby Guide)

About 60 I think. The market has over 100 available

Edit: not only Swedish channels but foreign channels mostly in english too. With Swedish epg and for the Swedish (and Nordic) market. Like all Discovery channels, Fox, MTV and so on. The free to view channels are not many and iptv is not easily available without special solutions and quite limiting so the market is smaller that way

Thanks for the suggestion.

Have seen most of the stuff for my market there. xmltv.se has been around for many many years under different names. Used it several years ago in MythTV that had (has?) very good support for it. Limited data but free. You just need to grab it with the right tools (tv_grab tools) and process it in some way before emby can read it as standard xmltv. No graphics or other nice to have data. I used honeybee as xmltv-provider in emby at first but that data had big problems with mixed languages (like German or Finnish titles, Swedish description or the other way around) even if selecting Swedish (btw honeybee and xmltv.se, same author, Swedish guy, talked to him a couple of times over the years). Switched to SD and that data is great. Good graphics and no language problems with the data.

Won't your government just find a solution for you? (just kidding)

What government? Lol!

We don't really have one since the election (september 9). Just the provisional/transitional government.

Really?  Sorry as an American I am only expected to understand basic concepts of government. I have no idea exactly how yours works.

This has lead to an excellent two party system where we are constantly given the choice to only vote against our self-interests.  This is often referred to as "the lesser of two evils".  I was only trying to make light of the situation as your country is often the example of the horrors that can happen if you let socialism get out of control.  Personally, I am not for socialism but find endless humor in the assumption then that our system is without it's warts.

Oh, yes. The situation is and has been crazy for a long time! Another discussion, another forum.

It is our hope to expand this to more countries in the future,  yes.

So just to clarify: Those who need German guide data and have an SD subscription that runs out within the next four weeks will be screwed at least for while but possibly forever? If so what is the workaround or alternative to emby?

What you can do is extend SD a little longer which will give us time to explore more options for more countries. Obviously we'd like to do it with Gracenote if the cost is reasonable. But there are other options in Europe that we need time to explore. Thanks.

Exciting news on the long awaited update.

So right now I use Schedules Direct in epg123, then that output goes to Emby and the M3U playlist comes from iptv-epg. So I assume, I am never going to be affected by any Emby/SD changes.

But also, I am using NPVR and that is what delivers most of the content to my liveTV.

I may have to rethink my whole process once this is all running smoothy for Emby. I have so many programs doing things, it is way too confusing now.

My main question is will there be a subscription fee for this service from Emby, or is it just included in Premiere which is a one time payment. By the way, I already have Premiere.

For all those concerned about losing SD, just use epg123 and use the output xml in Emby. Easy solution for those with SD and want to stay there. I do it now and it works great.

Ok, just took care of that. Hopefully this will not break your bank and render the emby lifetime license nonviable.

Can you elaborate on how exactly to set this up?

We have not looked into every country yet so please feel free to suggest guide data providers that you know of for your country, either here or you can PM us. Then we can look into whether or not integration would be possible.

Not all users running Emby on Windows. Users like me. ;)

Noticed that mc2xml does have a Linux version but time will tell if I need to do some special solution, I rather not.

TIA. Looking at epg123 right now but need to know where to pipe the resulting XML data.

EDIT: I think I get it. I just use the "XML TV" guide option and then point to the XML file created by epg123. Right?

http://xmltv.se

http://honeybee.it

Same guy behind both. The format for the graphics from honeybee will not fit Emby current layout.

Also, when I used honeybee (that could be used directly as xmltv-source) there was big problems with mixed languages and other stuff in the data but you could speak to him.

I really hope for data from the same source as SD use, good graphics and information.

I'm unclear on the countries honeybee has data for. Do you know? How long ago did you test them?
