    Zappiti 4K HDR + emby

Just tried to post a reply and for some reason it duplicated my original message?? I think my Zappiti is destined to the loft or ebay. I do have an old Synology DS213 j that ran on the DS video format. From what I remember it wouldn't load up one day, perhaps became corrupted from a power cut or being switched off at the mains. So, would emby be suitable on this? Is it easy to set up? And would UHD and 5.1 stream okay to tv over the network? Thank you
  3. Have a folder with 113pcs video file and one extra folder. Emby only show 2 series: OVA (4 movie inside, this is good) + season 1 (100 movie inside, this is not good, have 113 file) Version 4.9.0.16 beta
  4. I'm not sure how helpful it is, but this file DirectPlays fine on my LG TV. Are you on the same network as the server, or are you playing remotely?

Carplay - There was a problem loading this content

So, if I have 10 tracks under “favourites”, it still tries to fetch entire library (100k+ items) when I press play on one of those favourite tracks? It is insane, who implements things like that? I moved away from Plex, their android app thinks that my TV is an Phone and refuses to output multichannel audio to ARC or via TosLink. So going back to Plex is not an option either.

    Zappiti 4K HDR + emby

Thank you for your replies. My hardware is the zappiti one 4k hdr. I don't have a NAS, so looking at an alternative to the zappiti video app for a gallery and metadata experience. The licence route with emby is okay, if indeed it would function on my player? I've installed the emby server on my player but it opens up in the Chrome browser on my zappiti and isn't ideal. I've read about jellyfin and kodi but as a newbie, I'm not sure if they would work on my zappiti? Thanks again

Carplay - There was a problem loading this content

This has been a problem since 2022, maybe even before that. It's still not resolved. I believe it's due to the size of the library. I have over 10K albums and i pretty much cannot play anything. One way i can get it to play is if line up an album or playlist on the phone and then press play once it's connected via carplay. But searching, browsing or playing via carplay produces the same results as you and many others. Having moved over from Plex where this works amazingly well. It's very disappointing considering this is a paid Emby premiere feature.

  9. So the PRI_DS218 no longer exists on my Synology, but it is coming up on my DLNA clients

    Combine albums in music collection

You say that as if it's a bad thing, and as if server owners aren't capable of any logical directory structure on their own. Yet practically every other system I've tried (Plex, Jellyfin, WMC, Navidrome) are able to take the folder structure into account and do a much better job than Emby at auto organizing albums. I've spent a few hours in the past trying to bulk update meta tags and only put a small dent in what would be needed for my collection, so I gave up and made the sensible choice of switching to Jellyfin. It's like Emby was trying to innovate here for the sake of innovation, while completely ignoring industry standards and leaving everyone else behind. "Our music system works great! But only as long as your collection is perfectly tuned and setup exactly the way we want".
  12. Hi, I recently changed my Synology server name. On DLNA, my music appears with the new server name, but the Emby folder still appears with the old Servername that does not exist. When I log in to Emby on the browser, I see the correct server name- so it is only on DLNA that this happens. Nowhere on my Synology can I find the old name of the network/external access or anywhere. I have cleared the cache on my app on the Android but no dice. what should I do?

  14. still has the issue, i have to go everytime in diagnostic when i turn off and on my server (so daily) to reactivate burn in i did deactivate hardware acceleration but it didn't help.
  15. Hello, Mp41 does not work hence my issue. I tried with mp42, that doesn't work either. I come back to your point about LG TVs. Also, I did a playback test with the TV's native audio player and... it works! So, it's the Emby app on LG TV that doesn't know how to play this type of audio file. I remind you that Emby on Android (11) or on PC (Linux Debian 12), reads the file correctly.
  16. I just tried the Emby Android TV app on the Shield - Version 2.1.10g and the app re loaded ok after going through - remote: Back key and then selecting EXIT on the Exit Emby? dialogue and then relaunching Emby. Must be something specific to your configuration. Is it just the one user account that you use ? Could I get more info on the setup and versions in use and maybe get Android app debug logs before the hang and also server logs with debug logging enabled beforehand - covering that period and when the app is restarted and hangs To get the android app debug logs - on the app Settings, select "General Display" and then scroll down until you get to "Enable debug options" and tick/select that. Then go back to the app screen and your account avatar and when that opens, you can choose Send Logs which will send them to emby. Note down the exact time and the emby user account being used. Then restart the app which you expect for it to hang - note down the time and now collect the server logs See this article on android TV logs and server logs

Sony X90L and TrueHD 7.1 Audio

They send Dolby Digital Plus 7.1 (lossy) with optional 'JOC' Atmos) - this is not the same as True-HD (with real Atmos) or DTS-HD / DTS:X (both lossless). No mainstream streaming service uses losssless audio. Having said that, the THD from emby should not be passed as Stereo - it should be encoded to AC3 (5.1) - but if you want the best available sound and want lossless/Atmos/DTS-X etc - then you need to not use the TV as the client - and use something like an Nvidia Shield Pro directly into your AVR via HDMI. (passing the 4K Video to your TV). See below (uses an LG TV as an example, but same rules apply) https://emby.media/support/articles/LG-Why-not-Atmos.html JOC Atmos - https://professionalsupport.dolby.com/s/article/What-is-Dolby-Digital-Plus-JOC-Joint-Object-Coding?language=en_US

    Android TV Emby app hangs.

Updated the client to beta 2.1.12g Repeated the previous scenario. All works well this time. I'm not sure that it always failed before, but this is positive. I'll let you know if there are further problems. In the mean time - thanks
  26. Jellyfin works better but has an ui ugly as hell for my taste and I do like the way Emby works with the skip intro functionality. I miss h265 encoding though… maybe I’ll give it a try again this year to see the improvements.

Play back history is not being recorded.

So a interesting one. it looked like there was a issue with the client speaking back to the server. I enabled SSL for the server and only allowed the ssl port through but i saw in the logs the client was trying to connect on the non ssl port and was getting a 404 error, or a 304 I have now run a nginx reverse proxy in from of the emby server and this seems to have resolved the issue. not getting any 304 or 404 errors anymore. This is strange since i have done this many times and only this time did if give me this error.
