To follow up on

 

Observed this behavior again today, pretty sure it has something to do with the Next Up addon.

Episode 1 playing, when completed Episode 2 started automatically by Next Up (2 qualities available, I was not prompted to select quality prior playback)

Once Episode 2 was completed player "completed" and returned to Home menu. No odd behavior observed - all looks normal.

I try to start episode 3 thru the Next Widget, nothing happens on the screen and when I push my remote nothing happens except I hear the GUI sound from button pushes (I have no keyboard connected).

 

After I restart Kodi (normal systemctl restart kodi) the status looks like Restart1.log

Then I do another Kodi restart in the same manner and the errors are gone, Restart2.log , the first restart takes longer than the second one - that's the only reason I checked the log there.

 

After the second restart I tried to start playback from the Next widget and nothing happens, Playback from Next Widget.log

Kodi restarted in same manner as above

Started playback from the normal TV Shows menu and it's working fine (Playback from TV Shows.log). As you can see on row 181-187 there's something that doesn't look normal with the Next Up addon, the addon is also not working very often after the latest updates (to the server). My theory is that when a playback is triggered by it, the next episode will fail.

Once the playback of episode 3 has been started from the TV Shows menu I can stop it, go to the home menu and start it again from the Next widget.

EDIT: I've now disabled the Next Up addon to see if the problem disappears.

EDIT #2: It happened again although Next Up was disabled, so my theory isn't valid.

please send me a full log. The snapshot still shows the showstopper, but not the cause.

I did a database reset and installed 5.3.1. For some reason, after logging in, I see a dialogue for "Update views" and it gets stuck at 40%. I'm not experiencing this issue with the latest stable release, however. 

EDIT: I see there was an earlier post about this. I followed the advice in that post and completely deleted Kodi and reinstalled E4K 5.3.1. Same issue occured again; it sits at Update Views for some. After a while - maybe 15 minutes or so - it eventually gets unstuck. Very weird. 

EDIT 2: It seems I'm still experiencing a problem. E4K reports that it can't locate files on my network and that there's a path substitution issue (I'm using native mode), but I've verified that I have a proper network path in my Emby server settings. I went ahead and let the import finish and I can see my media in Kodi, but when I try to play, Kodi repots that the item has been removed.

The plugin tries to download artwork from the emby server. It can take a while during initial connection but should never take more than probably 30seconds, 1 minute (depending on size).

Please have a look in that folder: .kodi/userdata/addon_data/plugin.video.emby-next-gen/temp/

It's the location of the cached artwork, please check the size and probably delete the content. This will force a redownload on next Kodi start, and you can check if this is actually the reason.

I always recommend using addon mode due to such problems. Is there a reason why you are using native mode? Native mode has also several limitations.

It's still a "multiprocessing" issue and not sure what causes the problem. I cannot even say, it's coming from next-gen plugin. Actually I doubt that, cause next-gen does no longer use multiprocessing, only threading is used.

I did not experience this long wait when I selected Add-on mode. Would that make a difference?

One other small issue I've noticed - profile images don't seem to display in embuary skin with the latest beta. They do display with the current stable. Hopefully an easy fix!

Not sure I can fix that. I think emburay takes the user images from a code I've completely rewritten due to performance improvements and removed that functionality for external application, but I'll check.

In 5.3.2 I still have the same issue with my dynamic library with the content set to home vides showing as empty.  While recently added for the same does show videos.
