mouseware 9
Can I ask what SMTP URL do you use? you should be using "smtp.gmail.com"
Pine 8
Sorry to hear that, the plugin used to work fine. It is a very useful plugin and hopefully some one can fix it. It seems that "used to" is the operative term here. At some time something must have changed (maybe on the server side) and it does not seem that anybody is looking at the problem. Pine 8
Can somebody who has this plugin working PLEASE publish the complete (correct) setup here? Thanks
CBers 6805
It works for me. I get email notifications many times a day from my MBS, plus others from my friends and family's MBS'. I don't send via Gmail, but my own domain.

econ 74
It works fine with gmail. Sometimes I notice that I am not receiving email alerts and a restart of MB fixes. Happens maybe once or twice a week. See the settings below.

CBers 6805
I am on dev release as well. Could it be a firewall blocking it?

Pine 8
Does anybody know who the developer of this plugin is? Can we get help from there?
Luke 37273
it's a community plugin, we're all working together on it actually if you read through this thread, it's been suggested not to use gmail because they may not all go through if being sent rapidly, due to spam traps. other free email services may have the same effects. you can use them to receive notifications, but it's not suggested to use them to send them out. cbers has his own email server, so works perfectly for him. you could look at something like mailgun i think. Hi Luke, It used to work with outlook.com previously, but after I reinstalled MB3 it stops working, and since then I couldn't send any email no matter which account I choose...... Luke 37273
well i don't know, but i wouldn't use a free email service to do the sending of the emails. i will update the config page to mention that.

mouseware 9
it's been suggested not to use gmail because they may not all go through if being sent rapidly Right on. I still had to create a custom filter/rule in Gmail even though it was from me to me and authenticated as me to route to my inbox rather than SPAM. econ 74
I could never get a test to work with gmail. Did you try to just trigger a new notification? ie play a video.
Luke 37273
I think with the free email services it's going to be YMMV. Best to use your own or get mailgun
mouseware 9
I just re-read this thread and a few questions that weren't asked: 1. Are you going through a proxy server or VPN? 2. Is the windows firewall (or other software firewall) enabled? 3. If using gmail (and you have telnet installed or putty) can you just "telnet smtp.gmail.com 587" and get any response, like: 220 mx.google.com ESMTP y200sm1444889iod.23 - gsmtp If you are on Windows Server 20xx you can install the SMTP (IIS) "feature" and just point your settings to "localhost" to relay them... If not, any chance to install wireshare and capture when you send a notification? Edited January 23, 2015 by mouseware
