KillyKillKill 1 Posted April 30, 2014 Author Posted April 30, 2014 (edited) We really do need a "Clear cache" function from the dashboard but for now, find the data directory under your server folder and delete the library.db and refreshdata.db files. Then start the server and let it do its thing. For a while I put this off (frustration got to me), but I love the potential of this software and so I've decided to try and tackle it once again - it's superior to everything else I've found out there in so many ways - though this problem with my tv files appearing out of order drives me nuts!! I decided to try your suggestion, but I can't seem to find library.db nor refreshdata.db anywhere on my drives, can you be more specific to their location (and maybe elaborate on what they are and what deleting them will do)? And if there a way to only clear out specific data (ex. only delete all "adventure time" metadata so that it will only rewrite that series info on restart)? Or will deleting these files cause my entire directory to re-write? Specifically, I'm trying to preserve all the editing I've done on my movies, but need to completely redo all of my television metadata - the only option I see is to go through and manually refresh each individual episode, and with about a terabytes worth of shows, that would be a pretty daunting task. Again, it would be greatly appreciated if future releases had the option to clear grouped metadata (or cache?), and likewise select multiple files at once to perform manual refresh on (perhaps when clicking on the "season" folder it has the option to refresh/rewrite all data inside that folder). Thanks as always!! Edited April 30, 2014 by KillyKillKill
ebr 15379 Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Refreshing a folder will also refresh all the items under it. There just isn't currently any indication of that process, but it will do it.
KillyKillKill 1 Posted May 4, 2014 Author Posted May 4, 2014 Except it still gives me the same issue - for example, if I refresh say the "adventure time" folder "season 6", then some data appears in the files contained, but still does not for whatever reason give me all the data I need, specifically episode numbers. However if I click each individual file ("refresh", then "save" on each episode), it works perfectly. If there were only some way to get the same results/data for all files contained in one click, I would be over-the-moon happy, because as it stands I simply do not have the patience to go through my thousands of files and click each individually. It may be simply a small bug, or even just something weird and incorrect on the way things were set-up on my end - either way I'm crossing my fingers that a future release fixes this problem.I would like to reiterate that besides this one issue - which admittedly has been a serious headache for me - I think you guys have made an excellent piece of software here, and hope that my annoyance at this one problem isn't overshadowing how insanely impressed and grateful I am for all the things you got right with the rest of the program!!
cw-kid 192 Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 (edited) We really do need a "Clear cache" function from the dashboard but for now, find the data directory under your server folder and delete the library.db and refreshdata.db files. Then start the server and let it do its thing. I've just deleted these files as I wanted to clear the database to test importing my media content again from Kodi, but now Emby isn't loading in the browser. So I restored the two files I had deleted and restarted the server etc, but its still not loading, so think I have broken it now. OK I rebooted the file server and it seems to be back! I deleted refreshinfo.db couldn't see a file called refreshdata.db Edited May 8, 2015 by cw-kid
ABNParatrooper 6 Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 After deleting the db files did the server pull new/fresh metadata or did you see the same bad metadata you had before?
markie 1 Posted November 12, 2017 Posted November 12, 2017 is there an easy way for emby to be reset. That is, if I were to delete my config.xml file, would emby correctly rebuild itself from the current directory structure? is there an easy way to accomplish this? I lost half my library, and am looking to do this asap.. thanks in advance
Luke 38560 Posted November 12, 2017 Posted November 12, 2017 I wouldn't delete the entire file, just delete the Content type overrides that you added.
markie 1 Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 I wouldn't delete the entire file, just delete the Content type overrides that you added. what about the response to message 5355? delete the library.db and refreshinfo.db files ?(here) https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/5355-refresh-all-metadata-or-clear-cache/ I REALLY really really dont want to redo the files by hand if possible... thanks again... My directory structure is ok now. thanks.
Luke 38560 Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 @@markie i've merged your threads because they are both discussing the same issue. markie 1 Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 thanks Luke, yes, I am aware of the guide you posted. my @@markie i've merged your threads because they are both discussing the same issue. Have you checked our wiki to review supported folder structures for movies, tv, music, etc? You can do that here: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki Thanks. yes, I have reviewed the structure, and do have that file structure example: Directory of M:\media\movies\ClassicTV 11/13/17 19:43 PM <DIR> . 11/13/17 19:43 PM <DIR> .. 09/08/17 02:27 AM <DIR> 3rd Rock from The Sun 12/15/16 22:56 PM <DIR> Bosom Buddies 02/08/16 20:24 PM <DIR> fracturedFairyTales 12/15/16 22:57 PM <DIR> Hill Street Blues 12/15/16 22:58 PM <DIR> MacGyver and each show further goes into seasons. the problem is that I lost the structure. the Library's TV folder showed all shows, instead of showing sitcom, drama, scifi, . I tried to delete the old tv library, and did the following : so yeah, now I guess I need to rebuild or edit my config.sys file as I dont show anything in the tv category.. (see pic of library) what file do I need to edit/fix/delete/rebuild, and how??? pretty please? have attached (I think) my current config.xml file config.xml
Luke 38560 Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 Why do you think you need to rebuild something? I think you are kind of fixated on that as the solution, but instead I would just tell us what the problem is and let us determine the solution. Thanks !

I think you are kind of fixated on that as the solution, but instead I would just tell us what the problem is and let us determine the solution. Thanks ! That's why I posted the config.xml in message above. I have in the 2 screenshots above (my main screen and my library settings) I think show the problem. I have re-attached the 2 images (slightly larger and readable) I hope here. the first shows my main screen, and the second shows the configuration info on the library screen. A few notes, the first four categories defined work fine * Classic TV \\mitch-desk\classictv * Marvel-verse \\mitch-desk\marvel * Movies m:\media\movies\movies * Talk Shows \\MITCH-DESK\talk work/display fine DESPITE the difference in how they are coded (UNC vs. (m) drive. The next series of libraries don't work TV-copshows \\mitch-desk\Cop-Shows TV-dramas M:\media\movies\TV\dramas TV-scifi M:\media\movies\TV\SCI-FI Note from the following net share snippet, that cop-shows is defined; dramas and scifi weren't (that was a deliberate troubleshooting step that I took. Share name Resource Remark ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cop-Shows M:\media\movies\TV\Cop-Shows marvel m:\media\movies\movies\marvel movies m:\media\movies music M:\media\music\Categories talk m:\media\movies\talk The command completed successfully. So that's why I thought it may need to be rebuilt. Let me know if you need more info...
Luke 38560 Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 The problem is that this is getting so complicated that I'm starting to become unsure of how to help you. I would suggest removing all the content type overrides from your config xml, start the server, and then run a library scan.

Luke 38560 Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Find the ContentTypes node and just delete it.
