@@ebr needs to comment I think.  But yes still an issue with Live HD TV in the UK.

Is there still an issue here? Let's get this resolved. If I understand correctly, we think the failure is due to deinterlacing not being applied, right?

Doesn't the shield tv have hardware deinterlacing? Hm, maybe it doesn't apply here on second thoughts.

It appears to work for HD Mpeg2 but not H264.  We already allow the device to handle the deinterlacing for HD Mpeg2.

This particular issue appears to be that at the time we probe the stream for live playback, we don't see it as interlaced so we don't request that it be deinterlaced in the transcode and the resulting stream we get simply hangs up and never gets started.

Very, very difficult to confirm though without access to one of the actual live streams.  Perhaps one of you guys can invite me via Connect to your setups and I can try and play one of them from here.

Can you PM me the range of IP addresses that you would connect from and I will let you in my firewall directly to the HDHR tuner.

@@CBers are you having an issue? thanks.

No, but then I don't use live seek.

OK, so I tried using Live See in the ATV app running against my HDHomeRun which is connected to my test Stable  Emby server and it appeared to work OK.

I disconnected from the Stable Emby server and connected to my NETCORE Emby server, which has the same HDHomeRun set up on and in the ATV app, the Live Seek just froze.

I was able to back out and send app logs to @@ebr.

@@ebr did you get access to a UK HDR?

Yes, thanks to @mini_me.  I just hooked to his system and played a couple of HD channels (itv HD and BBC Two HD) and they played fine (albeit with some pauses due to bandwidth I imagine).

@@maegibbons, is this still an issue for you on current beta of the app and server?

I've just tried on v1.4.50a and server 3.2.30.0 and not getting anything on any of the HD channels. I get the spinning circle.

It does show it playing on the dash board.

Plays hd fine on web page, emby theatre and mobile app on android.

I have settings as

Audio : direct

Direct stream live TV and external player for live TV disabled

I did get Ch4HD once but the others just don't start

@@mini__me what version of the server are you running?  I didn't pay attention while I was connected to it...

I tried on both the Nexus Player and the Fire TV.  I did have to lower the bitrate on the Fire to get it to play well, but both devices played the HD channels.  I'm not sure what the difference is other than possibly server or ffmpeg versions.

I'll try the beta and see if that makes a difference.

Could the audio stream type (I'm using direct than stereo) as I am connected to an Onkyo amp.

It was working about 3mths ago on both or boxes (one connected to stereo speakers via HDMI connecteed monitor and other to ONkyo Amp with 5.1 stereo speakers)

So it looks like the server is starting the stream but the box isn't taking it.. Tried changing the audio output to downmix and no difference.

EDIT: Just sent logs. Also tried the playback correction and eventually got audio with a hung picture.

Happy to let you log into my server if you like to check with your boxes?

The only thing I notice is the same thing I noticed from maegibbon's log - the app is not requesting that it deinterlace even though the profile I'm using should be telling it to.

@@mini__me can you please find the ffmpeg logs from my playback earlier today and post them for comparison?

Thanks.

Wow, lots of stuff tonight :)

@@ebr server version is 3.2.30.0

Can confirm the HDHR model in the UK does not support hardware transcoding.

I have the problem when the server tries to Direct Stream (remux) the channel, if for any reason it transcodes then it plays back fine.

I've attached your Nexus log which is a transcode, however any transcoding and I don't expect you'll see any problems playing back.  All your playback attempts were transcoded and successful.

In the remux log that you said fails, ffmpeg claims the incoming stream is 1080p.  Is that true?  You guys have broadcasts in 1080p?

Even so, I cannot see any reason why it would need to be transcoded.
