Does it support more than one tuner? I have six tuners in DVBLink but I can only stream one channel at a time in Emby.

The emby core doesn't care or worry about tuners that are managed by the tv plugins. So from the core's standpoint, it can handle it, it just needs to be supported in the plugin.

While you are at it could you look at ensuring the plugin picks the correct audio track, currently it ignores the user settings. It always plays the audio described track and the significant other will not accept this

No that's not correct. Live tv is supported with Chromecast.

Going off on a slight tangent here but I just went through a major rebuild of my DVBLink platform and the results were so good that I thought I'd post about it here to further emphasize how great it would be to have a DVBLink plugin with the same functionality as the Windows Media Center client. Of course this will necessitate that the major MB front end, i.e MBT, reaches the same level of TV functionality as WMC [emoji41]

 

Anyway I have been intending for some time to rip out all old coax and telephone wiring, replacing it with Ethernet. I finally got this done so now every single coax or telephone jack in the house has been replaced by RJ 45. We are now officially IP only. [emoji3]

 

All that remains now are four 5-meter coax cables going from my satellite dish into the attic where they are connected to a brand new 4-tuner Elgato NetStream4sat device plugged into a network switch. This must surely be one of the coolest devices on the planet, as it turns the satellite signals into IP and sends them out on to the LAN.

 

So I removed the physical tuner cards from my windows 2012 r2 essentials server, upgraded my DVBLink license from version 4.6 to 5.5 and boom, there I had the 4 Elgato network tuners showing up in the DVBLink tuner listing.

 

I have had this up and running for a week now with absolutely zero issues. I use an oscam server with Omnikey card readers for decryption along with acamd clients for each tuner, and it is absolutely rock solid.

 

My HTPCs are still running Windows 7 so I can use WMC, but for a number of other reasons I would like to move to Windows 10 but of course that requires viable alternative to WMC.

The upgrade came to 24 euros with tax. Channel switching times are around 5 seconds when switching transponders, maybe half that when the new channel is on the same transponder.

I get channel change times of roughly 2 seconds with standard sky dish plus a relatively cheap octo lnb. Windows 8 i7 running the server, I do find 5.5 speedier generally.

 

Also using kodi as client, the dvblink plugin is pretty lightening, that's how I am seeing the times above

Thanks for the info gents,I'm loathed to start mucking around with DVBlink let alone at pay them for a version 5 upgrade to be able to use Ethernet tuners. May be the quickest way to get them in to Emby and move from my TBS PCI-E cards.

Thanks for your help it works perfect now in the web client. In emby theater I get an if the max streaming bitrate is setup to 25 or 40 mbps(I only tried with these and 20 which worked). I also think that the tuner is closed correctly after this error, because dvblink server is reporting all tuners are busy

 

I'm not 100% sure about my conclusion

I don't use Emby Home Theatre so can't comment about that. 

 

I was able to play a TV Channel in the Emby Server web GUI OK in Chrome browser.

Hi

 

I just tried the Emby app for Windows 8 / 10 and went in to the Live TV Guide section, the guide data seems to load OK but maybe a little slowly, I am on the same LAN as the Emby server. 

 

Also the spinning Loading circle in the middle never seems to disappear, see screen shot below. 

 

I was also able to play a few TV Channels OK as well. The app in the top right hand corner said: Playback Transcoding. 

 

I have not enabled the setting in the DVBLink plug-in for "Enable DVBLink Transcoder (In Beta Stage) as I am not sure what this does?

Hmm on the playback of the THIRD TV channel it now says all the tuners are busy, I have a dual tuner Blackgold PCI card in the server. 

 

So it seems it not releasing the tuners again? 

 

 

EDIT:

 

If I go back to the EMby web GUI and try to play a TV Channel in there again, it now says Video Error:
