DS214play: ~60% CPU transcoding a movie in 720p to watch via webbrowser.

This means you have Emby server on DS214play up and running....

I am looking for the Emby package that is ready to install on DS214play,

Thx in advance for any help....

Hey guys,

is it easy to update the emby server on a synology 415+ once installed? i.e. would i be able to just manually copy the files over onto the nas, or do i have to wait for cytec's next release? The server is saying there is a new update but that i have to do it manually?

At the moment im using emby_avoton-5.1_3.0.5607.2-4.spk version and am finding it buggy. It seems to be laggy, watched/played isnt being sync'd between emby and my kodi client. (items marked as watched on emby arent marked on kodi, and vice versa). Also im finding the emby server using alot of processor randomly even when idle. like my library is all upto date, there is no clients connected to emby and it will still  be chewing the processor 40-60% sometimes.

cheers

I just noticed that cover art has broken since updating ImageMagick to 6.9.1-1

The log contains hundreds of the same entries:

I think it is not wise to update any of dependant packages.

Cytec has created the Emby package using specific versions of the dependencies.

Remember this is still in testing phase, just to get each compnent to run.

We do not even have an alpha yet.

To get functionality back you may have to remove all packages and re-install the supported ones outlined earlier in this thread.

Anyone know where I can get the Comcerto 2K (DS414j) version of MediaInfo 0.7.72-1 as the version of Emby I'm trying to install (3.0.5597.1-3) won't install without it.

Thanks in advance.

Its because imagemagic has been updated on synology but the emby pakage hasn't. Thats why its crashing Unless its stable I would use docker that works fine on synology.

Hi,

I was using the Old Mediabrowser Beta and decided to upgrade to the EMBY emby_cedarview-5.1_3.0.5607.2-4.spk I have a Synology DS1812+ with 3Gb ram

The issue I have with this new version is when adding media locations you cannot specify a UNC path or Browse network in the drop box, it gives a PATH NOT FOUND error. Path substitution does not work either and it continually transcodes rather than serving up the path to the client. (Old version worked fine)

Is this a bug in the build or have I installed the wrong version?

https://github.com/SynoCommunity/spksrc/wiki/Architecture-per-Synology-model shows cedarview (x64)

http://forum.synology.com/wiki/index.php/What_kind_of_CPU_does_my_NAS_have shows 2.13GHz x86 Processor unlike the DS1813+ which x86/x64

No errors in the log using the cederview version all, appears to be working fine other then UNC pathing, so I'm assuming it's a networking issue in the build.

Note: this issue is also with ServerWMC unable to access UNC path to Recorded TV folder

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm no expert on the various SPK's out there but it looks like you have the right package installed.

I can however confirm with the x64 bromolow package I also cannot set any UNC paths or use the 'Network' browse function. I've had to set up a remote mount point locally and use that together with path substitution. I've got a number of Kodi clients and they all seem to work fine, no transcoding at all.

Could you post your path substitution configuration?

For reference this is mine.

Either way doesn't work. If I map remote drive or create a symbolic link it will not resolve the UNC pathing to client.

also

5591cdc81ed3f_ServerWMC.jpg

Update!!!: Workaround for ServerWMC is enable HTTP service in the mediacenter/tuner PC and Emby experimental checkbox and Live TV/Recorded TV works.(transcoded not streamed)

I feel its a SMB Samba issue, Setting under Windows file server advanced? or if you look at FreeBSD or Linux nas issues atm they have the same problem but because the application is running in a jail and not running nativity.

Emby for media center and Emby Theater seem to be the only ones that do UNC playback(android app and web browser stream natively) so path substitution does work(but not how I was trying to use it-ignorance is bliss apparently)

network browsing when adding a source does not seem to work.

NOTE: I have also noticed that you cannot view the DLNA server in the network. Is the installation of emby behind a software firewall?

I have updated to Version 3.0.5641.5 this resolved the dlna braudcast  issue (cant change friendly name to windows 8.1 pc)and still have UNC issue

Hi Gernash,

I've only just installed Emby yesterday after discovering that a development version of the app was available for my home-build Synology. I'm curious as to how you've updated to 3.0.5641.5 - The latest .spk i can see if for 5607.2

I'm also having an issue where library scanning seems to freeze at some kind of random point every time - This time i've restarted Emby and it has frozen at 71%. Other times it can be lower.

I'm really looking forward to having this fully working. Should be awesome. Just got these couple of kinks that need working out.

Any help on either of the above issues would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

The forum post is the 1st place people go when then click the Synology link be nice if the 1st post was the install instructions with edit and updated.....

Pre-installation

Add http://packages.synocommunity.com/ and http://cytec.us/spk/ to Package center -->Package Source (make sure Yes, I want to see beta version! is ticked in Beta Tab and Any Publisher in General)

Check the what CPU/architecture you have in your synology https://github.com/SynoCommunity/spksrc/wiki/Architecture-per-Synology-mode

Installation

  1. Install Mono from Package center --> Community Tab
  2. Install Mediainfo from Package center --> Community Tab
  3. Install ImageMagick from Package center --> Community Tab
  4. Download and Install ffmpeg from here: http://cytec.us/syno/test-spk/ffmpeg/
  5. Download and Install emby from here: http://cytec.us/syno/test-spk/emby/

Updating

1. Go to https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/tree/master/Server and download MediaBrowser.Mono.zip then extract into a folder

2. Download and install winSCP http://winscp.net/eng/download.php login as root to synology

3. Make sure the Emby service is stopped

4. Copy the contents of the MediaBrowser.Mono folder into /volume1/@appstore/emby/share/emby (or wherever it has been installed, the contents of your MediaBrowser.Mono.zip should look like the contents of the folder you are copying into)

5. Start Emby

And that is it.

NOTE: Be careful, having root access to your nas can cause loss of data or damage to your file system if improperly used.

Has anyone found where to post glitches or bugs for the dev of this project?

Thanks for the info! I will put this into the first post. Hopefully it's all temporary while we wait for cytec to roll out a package for us and list it in their catalog. You can follow this topic here and also chime in to show your support:

https://github.com/SynoCommunity/spksrc/issues/1346

They've committed but we're just waiting for it to move up their priority list. Once that is complete I think all of this will be easier.

As far as bugs, feel free to post in the general linux server section, or in the apps sections if need be. If it's specific to the Synology package then i can create a Synology section. We might as well do that anyway because we're going to need it.

Scanning stopping in a folder is more of a How to use issue Emby problem. I have found most people do not sort their media properly/logically and are scanning a file dump/graveyard folder.

Folders should Be

{Movie Name}

      {Movie file}

or

{TV Name}

      {Season}

           {Episode File}

I use an application to sort all my stuff there are a few of them out there.(I use the renamer)

Just move 50% of your content out of your scan folder and see if it completes the add content till it stops then look for what broke it.

Nice, a Syno section can we have an install sticky and link from EMBY Download page redirected to it so all spanky for new users. As the information is shotgunned all over the net while in this experimental stage

Very strange... All my media was organised properly, but it seems that there was one series that was causing the whole thing to get stuck. I seem to remember that there was something similar happening with Sonarr until I told it to ignore the series. I've removed it for now and will come back to it later. I now seem to have scans completing successfully, which is great :)

Cheers,

I am trying to install Emby on my Synology DS214Play. I Followed the Installation Steps. But during Step 5 Installation of Emby SPK my DS complains that it needs to have mono > 3.6 to be installed. Even though I have mono 3.12.1-0062 beta installed. I Edited the dependency in the INFO file so it looks like this:

install_dep_packages="mono>=3.12.1-0062:imagemagick>=6.9.0-1:mediainfo>=0.7.72-1:ffmpeg>=2.6-3"

Then it complains that i need Mono version >= 3.12.1-0062.

What is going wrong here? Do I actually have a wrong mono version installed? Any Ideas?

Any Help would be Appreciated,

Thomas

@Schreini

Mono 3.10.0-4 is the latest one from synocommunity

Mono 3.12.1-0062 is the one I see a lot of people are having trouble with in the sicbread/nbz forums.

Ahh 3.12 is from the official Synology web page for your device. It does not seem to work. 3.10 is needed from the Synocommunity ATM.....

I'd downgrade to the 3.10 version and try again.

NOTE: ZOMG you found 3.12 do you have a link to it or the repo it came from?
