What about TopPicks for music, ebooks, games, photos ?

IMHO the most importent thing is that the user engagment works and that we have some kind of preselection in the individual category. Every Library is quite personally organized, some people do not even rename the file and everyone knows where it comes from. In my series most of the episodes have even the correct airdate as creation date (Thanks RenameMyTVSeries!), but I do not like to have every season in their own folder.

Bottom line....how many TopPicks does one want.... I would definately want one seperate for movies and series and would surely not mind if I had additional documentary movies and documentery series. 

For me anything above four Topicks would make it cluttered, but some might like to have them for each individual library.

This might maybe even speed up things, because the individual settings do not need the uneeded library index.

 

Just my thoughts And absoluteley no rush....plugin is evolving really well and a few hickups have to be expected . 

Edith: would not mind paying additional 3 bucks ( aka "not even a pint at a bar") per TopPicks.

wondering if I could get some help please, I have installed Top Picks however, no movies are displayed. it just displays a blank folder.

Ive attempted to select my own spotlights, they do not display either.

I have changed toppicks and movies to enable real time monitoring. still the same.

Ive tried different libraries with the same results, userengagement disabled and enabled

Hide fully played content from latest media is not selected.

Ive tried restarting Emby mutliple times, same with the NAS.

I am not absolutely sure, but I think right now TopPicks only works with the latest beta version.

The latest beta also updates your database and this can not be easily reverted, so you have to decide to either go to the beta or wait till the plugin functions with the next release.

I am using top picks (1.0.0.44) with Emby 4.7.11.0 with no problems.

I never run beta versions of Emby and top picks has always worked for me.

Maybe try going into the scheduled tasks manager of emby and manually running the tasks from there. If you have user engagement enabled there should be two.

- user engagement

- update top picks

Run user engagement first if you have it enabled, then update top picks.

Personally I don't use user engagement (small library and small user base) so I just curate my own pinned list of movies.

That's all I can suggest, it looks like it's installed properly.. Another thing to look out for is parental ratings of the media and the user account you are using.

Maybe pass a log to @chef so he can have a closer look.

after playing around a little more, I got it working.

 

Deleted plug in (again), restarted NAS, saw the library still existed, deleted library, restart NAS. reinstall plugin, restart Emby. Works great!

I was having issues with the catalogue.

I'm going to try updating the library again today.

The long term care facility I cook in went into COVID out break again, . 

So, I've been living in n95 masks for the last week or so.

Good news is that the mortality rates are way lower then before.

Intros for that Library is set to NEVER. 

 

It is trying to generate preview thumbnails though and here are my fetcher settings

Here is a movie i pinned to the top picks as a test. First screenshot show the Poster Image is missing on the top pick entry of the movei.  Second screen shot is the main movie in my regular library which has a proper poster

No, I don think so. I'm just wondering if maybe intro skip is hitting one of the top pick strm files, but can't read it because it is virtual.

It might have just been coincidence there.

Anyway, I see that object reference exception. It is when we are creating a custom image with Skia. The item doesn't have an image so we attempt to create a generic thumb with text and a black background.

Which is still failing. It's most likely not a good idea to attempt a generic image.

I've got to figure something else out there.

If you look in the "Emby-Server/programdata/data/top-picks" folder, does the image get created? 

I think that path is correct for Linux.

I attached a screenshot of the SFTP directory output from that top-pick folder for the movie missing the poster image. I an updating top picks now via the scheduled task to see what happens but it takes forever as it seems to trigger a full library scan including my TV library which is like 78K episodes even though I have no interest in TV shows being part of my Top Picks

Okay. Thank you for all that info. Very helpful.

I see that we aren't able to create the fast and furious thumb image. We seem to be missing a logo.

However, the provider didn't give us one either which is very strange.

A curse of wellness, also had the same issue.

There is one issue I can help with right away, and that is: If you sort the library by date added, the items should fall in line with their ranking.

 

As for the missing logo images from the providers for fast and furious. I wonder if they are using the "&" character for their lookup. 

I'm going to need a bit of time to follow up with this.

Is that related to "Download in advance" as it is on demand if not present.  So I would guess TheGuru would have to validate what images exist with primary item.

Chef you use copy existing images if present and only download from provider if needed correct?
