MndWrp 99
Nice! I've been wanting to backup stuff for a while now, that is definitely a MUST HAVE feature!
Jambercob 12
Let me know if you still need people to test the plugin before Beta. I will be reloading our entire OS tonight because of major hardware upgrades causing issues (basically I think the OS has just been ghosted too many times). I would love to test the backup utility for you and report back if there's any issues. If anything blows up it won't be that big of a deal to us, we've had to re setup user accounts and settings before.
jamvids 37
Nice one, my server pc needs a fresh install, I have copied the entire database to another drive before, and copied it back before I installed MBS, and it was like nothing had happened, but I was prepared that time, previous to that I lost everything so this will be a godsend. Erik 120
Just did an export from my old media server and an restore to my new media server (all fresh install of everything). It all looked good, the only issue I had is a little popup warning saying the "username or password is incorrect". I re-entered the only password that I was using on one of the admin account. But it kept popping up whenever I changed pages in the settings menus.

Erik 120
Thanks EBR, I just did a fresh install instead as the family wanted to watch a movie (isn't that always the way). Didn't think about grabbing the log sorry.

gvalentin 0
I have been trying to figure out where the restore option, as mention in post #4 is located. Does anyone know? The only thing I see in the Server Configuration Backup plugin is how to setup a backup job but nothing for restore. I have moved my collection to a new system and would like to restore my settings from previous backups.

I have moved my collection to a new system and would like to restore my settings from previous backups. On the new server add the location of the backups to the plugin (same as you did when you set it up to backup). It should then show you a list of available backups. Click on one and you can restore from it. There should be options as to what data you want to restore in case you don't want everything.
337Manni 66
Could this be used to back up a Windows Emby Server and restore to a Linux Emby Server? I will be looking to migrate my server over to a linux system, hopefully by the end of the year.

xnappo 1596
It seems this does not back up the artwork? I don't keep my art in folders anymore... Getting ready for a new build
ebr 15245
It seems this does not back up the artwork? I don't keep my art in folders anymore... Getting ready for a new build This is a configuration backup utility. It isn't meant to backup your library components and metadata.
xnappo 1596
Okay, but how can I move my art and metadata to a new machine? Must I dump it into the media folders?
xnappo 1596
Just this I guess: http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/10425-moving-mb-server-to-another-pc/
ebr 15245
Well, that is one of the reasons we have the option to save it with the media. You could probably copy the metadata folder if absolutely every reference to the media will be exactly the same as it was on the old machine. xnappo 1596
Saving it with the media is so 2012 though. I think it would be a great addition to this backup plugin. Anyway, in my case the paths will be identical, so I will give it a go. xnappo
