What's your Emby server folder/file structure for tvshows?

I wanted to bring this back to the front to see if any assistance could be had here. I am running a Linux box with Proxmox and have installed Emby via the Helper Script. Background: I was on a Windows box and migrated over to Linux. I used that backup and it caused all sorts of issues, so before when the backup failed, I just thought that it was me because of the "Windows Backup". So I finally got around to trying to fix this over the weekend. I installed a new Emby Server in a brand new container. Here are the steps that I took. Installed via script above on Debian Linux - New Container. Updated Emby Server to 4.8.5.0. Restarted. Added Emby Premiere API key to server. Ran a successful backup - No issues Mounted File System (Synology) as /mnt/Synology Added for Permissions, groupadd -g 10000 lxc_shares on the new container for access Did a "usermod -aG lxc_shares emby" so that Emby had access from Debian to Synology Validated that I had read write access. All is good. Once I got to this point I went ahead and added a library, /mnt/Synology/Videos/Cartoons and let it go over night to add. It added all folders, and all scheduled tasks were successful. I woke up this AM and the backup failed over night. Here is the error that I see on the Dashboard. Is this a known issue or something being worked on? I have not been able to successfully run a backup. I am storing the Backup files on the Synology and it is Read:Write Privileged so it is not an access problem. Everything else seems to work flawlessly, just the backup issue that I am having. So after confirming with @softworkz(thanks) - a clarification of API/Token usage below - Manually created API keys (using the UI) have full admin priviledges. Session/Login based Client created API keys/tokens have the permissions of the user that created them. So if you ever needed any more reason to not use full admin accounts for general usage - here is one more reason .. I'd like to see the manual API keys have granular priviledges (as it's clearly possible) - but for now, as I've changed them all recently as part of routine account hygiene, I'm not that concerned. However, for others that run clients using admin accounts, or have manually created api keys, and have posted logs on forums without them being obfuscated, I'd suggest some account hygiene on the manual api keys and forced client re-logins to regenerate new tokens.

Thanks for the further reply. Using your examples above I've tested by creating 2 additional folders for my media; 1 for TV show name and then a sub folder with the Season number. And yes it does work but... however thats gonna be a load of work for so many files and a pain going forward. So basically individual files can't be indexed unless they are in 2 additional folders? Emby is pretty much better than Plex in most ways however Plex finds any file I throw at it without breaking a sweat. What are they doing differently and should Emby be doing the same? Lets face it 99% of individual TV downloads are not delivered in the format that Emby wants although admittely it should be fine for season downloads as they generally come in a folder. OK gonna play some more with this. I really appreciate all your help and support.

Not Synology, it is Chinese band NAS, os call UGOS, I am not able to open the terminal of it to check on that. strange that Jellyfin working normal with similar docker deployment

I'm normally happy enough to update after a quick check of the forums after a release, but 4.8.x made me hold off for far longer than I usually do, based off of a few common issues people were posting about.

Yes, what are you using for your NAS os, synology? My experience is with Debian. The command I mentioned would be used on the host with the gpu. As I understand it, the low power encoder/decoder must be enabled for transcoding to work. If you can get to a terminal you can try running: "sudo cat /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/gt/uc/guc_info" (you may or may not need to use sudo at the beginning) or maybe try "sudo dmesg | grep GuC" and see what is returned . Sorry, but I don't have any experience with Synology and I don't know if things I am mentioning are even possible to do with it.

As per title says, it would be great, if there is a way / scheduled task for image scrapper for tv series, for example for logo, thumb and banner, and it's only fetch the image only, not entirely metadata the whole series (including the episode), i attached the recording, for the use case of recently new series (anime) but while added for the first time, the thumb and logo is not available yet also, 2nd or 3rd language for fallback, image scrapper, like in this thread would be good (recorded in the attachment, showing, some logo not available in my main language, English, but there is in Japanese) additionally, 1 more section for extra image (thumb and banner) configuration in library setting, since thumb is used for "Upcoming Tab" in the tv show library Video recording is in attached files opera_zc5mSJvcYQ.mp4

Yes, same as Bohrfutter here. I also deleted the files as shown in the video, and also tried the delete after watch option, same results. But in my case, when I delete the episodes from the emby webui, they don't dissapear from the webui but all the folder (all the episodes in the same season) dissapear in kodi, resulting in the same bug, no matter from where I delete them. Changed skins, same result. Today there was an update to the emby server. I updated it, but the bug persists

Yeah. I don't really expect problems but releasing updates days apart points to what @rbjtech mentioned and does invite the introduction of problems. Besides, though I haven't been using Emby for that long, only since v3.3.x, there hasn't been an update with something I needed or wanted and couldn't wait for. I do appreciate the improvements but waiting for it to fully bake wasn't a big deal.

It's not geo-location. There's a reverse DNS registered for the source IP: firewall.rz.opal-consulting.com (didn't want to post it right away, in case you got any relation to them ) I'm not closely familiar with the DLNA implementation of Emby, but I know that you can also use a token for the api_key and maybe those were tokens which had been automatically issued to other local DLNA clients which the attacker has gotten hold of. I'm just guessing in the wild, though, but the question that I'm wondering about is not why he tried two non-working keys first - it's rather: "Why did the third one actually work?" This is what has lead me to believe from the first moment on that it must have been a targeted attack in some form. Maybe a neighbor or a visitor who got access to your LAN. Maybe also somebody in the same subnet of the dynamic IP address assigned by your provider to the router and he managed to get some DLNA communication working through your router (any ports open? UPnP enabled?). That's weird indeed and another reason which brought me in the direction that it might be somebody you know and who might get back to you later in some way like "haha, I've hacked your Emby Server and watched your videos!" And once another detail is that it appears that he (probably) started his actions from his own workplace (that company). This doesn't look like a professional hacker. (If he would have hacked that company, there would have been no need to switch over to Azure for continuing.) The other possibility is that it's an arbitrary hacker who found your server accidentally and is working out a general exploit. Did he really watch videos for a long time like from start to end and then the next one?

I live in Germany, but I have no specific connection to Nürnberg myself (even though those geolocation tools within Germany tend to be wildly inaccurate anyway...). As for the key, there are no signs of breach on my local net - also, if there was, I'd guess the attack would have been a bit more directed (why use two wrong API keys first?). However, you are right that my local network security is lacking in the sense that I (as of now, I plan to change that) have no separated guest network for my visitors - so a breached phone or something like that being on my network in the past is a possibility. (Why use it to attack emby of all things then is a mystery to me though).

Very wise - I do the same and with the benefit of using a Windows Service, I get to choose when it updates. The recent unwelcome changes that have not been put into Beta first have re-enforced my views that release management, feedback and testing are not one of embys strongpoints ..

Removing is no improvement unless you have the replacement done. This is at least twice things have been removed before the replacement is implemented. Poor programming.

I have reproduced this with the following library setup Media\Movies4\Fantasy\Harry Potter\7 Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1\Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1.mkv Media\Movies4\Fantasy\Harry Potter\8 Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2\Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2.mkv Media\Movies4\Fantasy\Harry Potter\UHD\Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1.mkv Media\Movies4\Fantasy\Harry Potter\UHD\Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2.mkv When viewing by folder and selecting the UHD folder, the Part 1 movie shows there is an additional part. The reason this arises is because you have two media items in the same folder (UHD) named as being parts 1 and 2 and thus being treated as a multi-part item. See Movie Naming | Emby Documentation and specifically the section covering "file stacking" So if the titles of the movies are the same except for having "Part 1" and "Part 2" suffixes, then they must be in separate folders, otherwise they would be treated as one multi-part movie.

Yea not really sure what emby are doing with this right now. They have taken away an integral part of TV show viewing (both missing and upcoming) and replaced it with a manual check which is all but useless for the average user. Emby for AndroidTV (you know, the client that has been in the process of being 'replaced' for the last 4 years..) now has some of this put back - it has an 'upcoming' row like before (with a 'future' banner across the poster) and if the latest episode is missing - then it shows that as 'missing'. But if mid-season are missing, then it doesn't show those - so it's only useful for current shows. No other client appears to have this. All in all - it's a bit of an inconsistent mess ..

Been after this QOL "feature" since core version was introduced... But seems since it was and the plugin seemingly sent to die, core has been ignored. Shame really.

I guess it's a viable alternative if you use the same source, but for any self made/ripped/edited/modified file - it will obviously will not work.
