We just had a power outage, which changed the IP of my Emby server, and after that, the Samsung app took ages to load up, and never got to the point where I got a version number. I had to reinstall the app, to be able to enter a new IP.

Strange, that should be caught..

The PC where Emby server runs should really have a static IP address.

Just updated to "m" and it seems to be working OK at the moment.

OK, had to go out so turned TV off, but now I'm back and turned the TV on, I don't get anything displayed on the home screen, other than EXIT.

I had the splash-screen displayed for 5 seconds without the version number, before it closed to the home screen, which was blank apart from EXIT.

If it makes any difference, all I get is a GREY screen with the EXIT option.

Obviously I can't access the log in the app as there is no option other than EXIT.

HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Entries from the server log where the TV's IP address (192.168.1.199) is mentioned:

Seems to be a couple of long "(slow)" queries going on there.

Going back to Stable, again  :(

OK, going back to Stable is OK, but I don't get past the splash-screen with no version number on.

I will delete the app and re-install as I think that should work.

I'd rather you go back to the stable server.

I can't, unless I install from scratch and re-import all of my media again, losing all of the watched statuses etc.

Deleting the app and re-installing Stable has me working again, so I will use that for the time being.

If you only have one user then the watched status should still be there if you fall back because it's saved in the nfo files

You cannot hide forever Luke.  Give yourself to the Dark Side.  Ahh...I mean CBers :)

I held out too until they finally pulled the plug and made you use a plugin for the old image files, etc  When I got my new server I decided to just go with it and use the defaults

You only need the plugin if you re-install from scratch.

I may install BETA again on a second PC and restore the datase from the dev server install and see what happens.

Can't you just rename the system dir and drop in one from the stable version?

I think Luke has made internal database changes.

I've asked the question in another thread, so waiting for him to reply.

Good morning. I believe I got to the bottom of this home view issue last night, which seemed to have got worse due to some temporary instability in the dev server but which has finally brought into focus a specific bug in the Samsung client.

I've been though all the home view settings a number of times and updated the queries for quite a few based on those in the web client before finally realising that if you set New TV to be your first or only home page view, or if you set HV1 to Resume All and HV2 to New TV when there are no resumeable items then you will get a start up freeze.

I believe this bug it reproducible in versions from before I took over but I wouldn't bother trying to reproduce it as it's quite annoying.

Consequently the next release will be one that requires you to recreate your settings file after install. For some people that may be normal in any case.

Thanks to all those who have patiently posted on this issue while my brain slowly caught up! This is just the sort of stability fix we want to bring at this stage.

Thanks, it wasn't the most thrilling! It was more that I wasn't sure there was actually anything wrong with it. Being able to reliably reproduce a problem is the key because once I can reproduce the issue in the emulator I can normally get some insight not available when the TV just freezes.

Heheh, I never thought I'd say this, but having my TV show an exception once in a while would be nice, instead of it just looking at me like nothing is wrong.

My Home Views are similar to what you have stated: HV1 = Resume All Items and HV2 is TV Next Up - they have always been set that way. I don't often have resumable items, but have only noticed this issue since a version of 1.0.0 was released.

I'm running the Stable release of the app, against Dev release of the server, but still getting "(slow)" responses in the server log and no homescreen displayed, on occassions.

Will "n" solve this issue ??

Any timescales on when "n" will be ready for release please ??

Also, I'm not sure if there is some sort of memory leak in the app or Smart Hub, because if I power-cycle the TV, the app loads straight into the home screen without delay.

Thanks.

I put a hard stop on my programing time last night as I have an early start. N will be out tonight or tomorrow. It's a simple fix. Notice here when Items.length is checked. But New TV doesn't have Items yet so it goes bang. On HomeTwoItems the Items get created before the length is queried so it's ok.

Had time to upgrade to latest m version. Running it against latest Dev Server Version 3.0.5801.703.

Weird one, On home screen and Tools Menu lots of my libraries are doubled. Also they are not named in app (see second pic). For some reason (or change in server) the app just shows the library type instead of name.

This is fixed in the next beta @@shorty1483

They will not be like the web app as we don't have unlimited space in those menus, you'll just have a single entry for each data type in a combined collection.
