    Embyserver.exe starts then stops suddenly

I must have been having connection problems I was able to install Emby Server again (not portable) but, it still will not start. IDK, I don't really want to do a full format and re-install the portable version seems to work fine. Also, I'd have to setup the drivepool again and re-run snapraid (I think). That is another thing all together, I haven't tested how to do a backup from snap raid, I'm a bit scared to test it. lol I'm going to clone the drive and then setup a mirror array and maybe that will protect me if the C drive decides to take a dump again.
  2. OK. I have tried to re-install emby server : did not help. I have tried to remove every file called "emby" in my system and then re-installing emby-server : even worse because it did not even load the service. So I simply removed everything again, and installed the "Snap" packages : "emby-server" and "emby-theater". Launched "emby-theater" from within my list of installed apps. Seems to work like a charm. Nothing to do... not even enabling the thing. I always wonder how it comes a Snap works better than the original file, but to be honest, as long as it works, I will not spend time digging this out...

To complain about lacking TVnext progress

Oh snap, I just seen their website that looks nuts, can you load your saved movies and series to it ? now it all makes sense, that looks way better than emby no wonder they want nothing to do with it.

    Arch Linux

They're upgrading support for the emby-server package from Community (meaning volunteer-maintained) to Extra (meaning official Manjaro team maintained), so for now we are stuck on emby-server version 4.7.11. https://packages.manjaro.org/?query=emby-server I considered removing the emby-server package and installing from the snap since it is up to date (https://snapcraft.io/emby-server), but decided to give the Manjaro team some more time to update the package. But switching to the snap is an option.

    Fedora/CentOS (RPM)

Ok! I´ll try to use Flatpak/Snap, I need to move a lot of data before taking the "risk" of upgrading to another OS. I always thought docker images used more server resources than installing it straight on the OS (comparing other docker images, not tried with emby) Thanks for your help!

    Fedora/CentOS (RPM)

I would recommended uprading to something like Rocky Linux or Alma Linux, as CentOS 7 is getting EOLed later this year. You could also switch to the docker image, or the Flatpak/Snap packages if upgrading is not an option. Making our RPM package compatible would require bypassing the system glibc and providing our own, in which case using docker would be the better option.
  7. Hello, I am trying to get gamebrowser working on my emby instance. I have the addon v3.2.9 installed on Emby 4.7.14.0 running on Docker. Folder structure is as spelled out in the Gamebrowser guide post: /mnt/user/multimedia/Games/N64/Star Wars - Shadows of the Empire/Star Wars - Shadows of the Empire.z64 Games Library root: /mnt/user/multimedia/Games/ I configured my game systems in the plugin config as follows: <?xml version="1.0"?> <PluginConfiguration xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <GameSystems> <ConsoleFolderConfiguration> <Path>/mnt/user/multimedia/Games/N64</Path> <ConsoleType>Nintendo 64</ConsoleType> </ConsoleFolderConfiguration> </GameSystems> </PluginConfiguration> I also have the EmuMovies plugin installed with my creds stored in the config. When i add the /mnt/user/multimedia/Games/ folder as a library, it finds the games and created entries that list the file names, but does not pull any images or other metadata for them. when i look in the debug logs, i see entries like this: 2024-01-11 21:05:57.105 Debug App: Running FolderImageProvider for /mnt/user/multimedia/Games/N64/Star Wars - Shadows of the Empire 2024-01-11 21:05:57.110 Debug App: Running EmuMoviesImageProvider for /mnt/user/multimedia/Games/N64/Star Wars - Shadows of the Empire/Star Wars - Shadows of the Empire.z64 2024-01-11 21:05:57.110 Info HttpClient: GET https://api.gamesdbase.com/search.aspx?search=Star Wars - Shadows of the Empire&system=&media=Cabinet&sessionid=REDACTED 2024-01-11 21:05:57.195 Info HttpClient: GET https://api.gamesdbase.com/search.aspx?search=Star Wars - Shadows of the Empire&system=&media=Cart&sessionid=REDACTED 2024-01-11 21:05:57.277 Info HttpClient: GET https://api.gamesdbase.com/search.aspx?search=Star Wars - Shadows of the Empire&system=&media=Snap&sessionid=REDACTED 2024-01-11 21:05:57.361 Info HttpClient: GET https://api.gamesdbase.com/search.aspx?search=Star Wars - Shadows of the Empire&system=&media=Title&sessionid=REDACTED If you look in the URLs, you will see that the "system" parameter is empty. If i take one of those URLs and alter it and put in the correct system parameter like system=Nintendo_N64, it works. What am I configuring incorrectly which is preventing Emby and the plugins from determining the value to pass as the system?

    Linux Setup

All OK now ... I installed via the distribution repository - which in only has the snap package. To fix, I installed with Emby's *.deb from the website. That was simple.

    Linux Setup

I forgot - emby-server is NOT installed in the bootup / startup. I do think you have a snap problem.
  10. Welp, sorry to necro but this is the only place im seeing this reported. Issue persists on Garuda (Arch Based) Linux. - When in full-screen on center monitor it seems to not allow usage of any of my other (2) monitors. If i maximize it from the task bar in KDE it will snap to the edges of the screen and work temporarily, but after a video is played, i can no longer use anything on my other monitors. As the other user stated, you can click on URL bars and typing boxes but it will click for a second and immediately draw attention back to Emby preventing you from doing anything.
  11. I've attached a couple of screenshots of what I'm seeing on the TV. Apologies for the quality of the images which I had to snap with my phone, but they should be good enough to clarify my explanation. When I attempt to open Emby on the TV, I see the first photo below. It shows two servers named "RAINBOWBOX", which is the name of my PC. The instance on the right was the original one mentioned in my first post, which gives me an error message if I select it. The one on the left only appeared after I manually inputted the IP address for the PC earlier today (not the Remote (WAN) IP I originally tried in error). When I click on the left-hand RAINBOWBOX I get taken to the screen shown in the second photo below. I can't progress past there to my Emby Home screen, with media folders etc, which is what I had been seeing when I first logged on, up until a couple of days ago.

    Emby Theater for Linux

Is it possible to replace the shared lib's in the flatpak with the ones from the distro official repositories? libmpv distributed in the flatpak core-dumps when playing av1 encoded streams. MPV using the system lib's plays perfectly. Is there a way to download emby-theater that works with the system libraries? or is there a recipe for replacing the libs with ones that work? I replaced libmpv.so.2.0.0, libGLESv2.so, libEGL.so however the libffmpeg.so then crashes and I can't find that in the Arch repo's. System spec: Ryzen 7 5800x GPU rx 6700xt Arch linux with current patches mpv package (from Arch repos) v1:0.35.1-4 emby-theater package (from Arch repos) 3.0.19-2 ps: please, please, for the love of all that is holy, please stop using flatpak and snap, or at least provide a version that can use system libs. I'm begging you. please. This is exactly the problem with flatpak/snap.
  13. I'm a bit stumped after going around in circles on this one. I had installed Debian (Bookworm 12) on an old laptop. Went through the steps to install the Nvidia drivers and finally used the instructions from Emby's Ubuntu install page. It took around a week for my whole TV library to be scanned, but during that time I had the https side of the server working fine. I was able to access the server using the outside port of 443 and translating through the firewall to the local port of 8920. Everything seemed smooth and working better when in comparison to my previous install on my synology nas. This is when I had the idea with the holidays coming up I might as well renew my SSL certificate with lets encrypt using certbot's python3 cloud flare plugin. I didn't want to install it through snap, so I threw the plugin on my Linux box using the apt-get command instead. Did a dry run and certbot seemed to be working using my token that was made to change DNS records. I then decided to flip over the local port to 443 and go into my router to change the local port there as well. Gave the Linux box a restart and now I can't seem to get the HTTPS side of the server to respond. I've tried requesting a new certificate from let's encrypt, checking that my domain resolves, using the purge command on certbot, setting the local port back to 8920, setting new port rules to forward both 8920 and 8096 to the local ports of 8920 and 8096, restarting the Linux box several times over, rerunning the dpkg command without any luck. When I ran nmap scans against the 8920 and 443 ports it always returns that the ports are being filtered. When running the same command against the 8096 port I will see that the port is open and accessible from both an internal and external IP address. There also didn't seem to be any errors that stood out to me when skimming over the debug log from my server. I hope that someone might be able to see something I am not seeing or know a post/article that might describe a good way to verify my install? The main reason I don't want to do a fresh re-stall is just because it takes so long to scan my library. embyserver.txt
  14. Yes other wise you could not connect to the server. Servers are suppose to run 24/7 doing there thing, to help you do your thing, when needed Think of Emby server as your waiter, and Emby client as you. You want you media, when you snap your fingers, and the waiter is there taking your request. If you turn of your waiter or let it take a rest. You would have to wait till it leaves the breakroom. Hope this makes sense

    Refresh guide 100% CPU usage

I deployed my emby server inside a Docker container that runs on Ubuntu 18.4 LTS. I noticed that when the refresh guide is updating the CPU usage goes nuts. It reaches 100% usage. I am using the latest version of Emby Server. Is there a way to reduce CPU usage? Stuck in fullscreen mode

Life gets in the way, but a late update to my situation. So, I have realized that I can adjust the size of the window with the mouse from the sides or bottom. For some reason the resize cursor does not work from the top of the window. I still don't get why the maximize button puts the app in Fullscreen mode instead of maximizing it. The window also still ignores Windows 10 baked in commands for manipulation of windows. E.g. [Windows Key] + [Down Arrow] for minimizing or [Windows Key] + [Left / Right Arrow] to snap left or right.

Native install vs Flatpak vs Docker?

I don't think Docker limits the number of cores for containers unless you specify it. I run Emby server on Debian in a docker container and all my 8 cores get used when transcoding. Your 100% CPU usage might be due to Snap not detecting quicksync or maybe you have to point the snap package to your CPU device driver, I'm not really familiar with Snap. I tell you this because for Docker, provided you have a recent i3-i5-i7 CPU, you have to provide the path to the driver to get quicksync working. In my case I gotta use the "--device /dev/dri" to the docker run command. If I don't specify that, transcodes take pretty much all my CPU resources instead of maybe 1/10th of that with quicksync enabled. Native install doesn't have this issue because the installed app has full access to your computer. In Docker, you kinda got to tell it what resource can be used for your container. Once you get familiar with Docker, you won't go back. It's so much more customizable than a Snap/Flatpak package. You can specify where you want all the config files to be stored at making backups very easy. With native or Snap/Flatpak, you gotta hunt for the location of settings/config files and sometimes they all over the place. Where Snap/Flatpak is useful is for Apps that don't rely on user configs. If there are user configs to be setup, I'd recommend Docker instead. As for native installs, I usually would only do it in a VM where there's nothing else on it. You can then back up the whole VM file. If there's gonna be other stuff installed on that machine, then I go for Docker. If you don't need/want to backup anything, then just native install everything.

    Plugin - Chapter Editor (ChapterApi)

Thanks for all info Rich, I think i'm clear on that now, and I'm okay with it for the time being. However, its this statement here that has caused the confusion I guess. I wasn't expecting a standard library scan to remove my edits either. Last night I made edits, and can see they "Saved" successfully: Then the following morning, during a typical scheduled Library Scan, IntroSkip Core is seen "detecting" the same (incorrect) intro chapters again, basically replacing what I just removed. 2022-11-25 08:01:50.676 Info App: Detecting markers for \\NAS\TV Shows\Dexter - New Blood\Season 1 - episode \\NAS\TV Shows\Dexter - New Blood\Season 1\Dexter - New Blood - S01E01 - Cold Snap WEBRip-720p.mkv 2022-11-25 08:01:50.711 Info App: \\NAS\TV Shows\Dexter - New Blood\Season 1 has 10 episodes with audio fingerprints available 2022-11-25 08:01:51.170 Info App: Best title sequence for \\NAS\TV Shows\Dexter - New Blood\Season 1\Dexter - New Blood - S01E01 - Cold Snap WEBRip-720p.mkv is 00:04:23.3084577 - 00:04:56.6417910. 22. Oh snap just saw this. 75 inch samsung 8 series and 2021 model.
  23. As a further test, I removed the snap firefox and added the mozilla ppa to my apt respositories, which installed the deb for Firefox 106.0. The font issue isn't present on this version. Everything is wonderful. I'm going to continue using the deb because I'm not really on board with the snap push to begin with, but that's twice now this font-family thing has come up on edge cases, so it probably still needs looking into.
  24. Hi, I really like to show my movies in Thumb mode instead of posters. However most thumb are just showing a snap shot of the movie, like a scene. Is it possible to show nice thumb for all movies with lets say the title of the movie in the thumb it self and to look like a 'poster'. Similair to Prime Video. Posters looks great but my idea is to have these in thumb mode. Is it also possible to have an option on how to show movies/series on enhanced media, poster or thumb?
  25. Hi Emby team, I would like to request that Emby Theatre for Xbox One be made snappable, so tv can be watched while playing games.
