Nope, it's not correct. I'm trying to help debug why the Top 100 of 1968 (66 songs) were included in the shuffle of "Blue-Eyed Soul" when only ONE song was that genre. The rest showed up intermixed with actual songs tagged with Genre:Blue-Eyed Soul. I'm not sure why Emby doesn't just go song-by-song and get the genres of each of them right.

Same thing here, srt files look good as well. The problem you facing from the subtitle encoding, best to use UTF-8 or convert the one you have to that, or simply download another subtitle from online sites.

That Audible part will be tough, as there's no publicly available APIs. In order to get the audible metadata, a third-party will need to write a plugin to integrate with a third-party API provider like Audnexus (which itself scrapes Audible's sites).

Hi everyone! I was watching a movie the other day and started getting jittering during playback. The stream would freeze for a few seconds then continue. This was a remote stream so I initially thought it was a connection issue, but I tried again at home and had similar problems. This is a 4K HEVC file being transcoded to 4K H264. I was initially watching on an Android TV device, but the logs below are from my testing on the web browser. It's definitely related to transcoding. When I play this file on a Windows device that supports HEVC, it streams perfectly fine with Direct Play. I can see in the settings menu that the transcoding progress bar lags just slightly behind the playback bar. I have Emby running in Docker which is running in an LXC container on Proxmox. The container is allotted 12GB of RAM, and given access to all 24 cores of the dual Xeon E5-2630's in my R720. Additionally I have a GeForce 750 Ti passed through to Emby. The media is being served to Emby over a network share, but I have no problems at all with Direct Play so I do not think this is the cause. I understand that this is some older hardware and its 4K footage. But while streaming my utilization stays well below 100%. My GPU hovers between 20-60% and CPU 30-70%. Thermals are more than fine too. There has to be a bottleneck somewhere causing poor transcode performance but I'm having trouble finding it. Would upgrading the GPU to something more modern likely solve this problem, or is it time for a full platform upgrade to a newer CPU? I did not. But I applied it on your recommendation. Still it does not work. I ensured all my libraries were shared. Still no go. I restarted the server. No change. I thought, maybe I have to create it after I share. I did a test Playlist. Still does not work.

The font i preferred to was the subtitles that goes with the name (SRT) these are the ones that got those lines after each arabic letter, ive been using other applications to view my media from emby that allows different fonts but navigating and traversing through these apps isnt as fast and smooth as Emby hence why I requested implementing other font on here

Yes, I agree fully with this. At a casual & visual level, Emby is great for music, but for serious consideration & playback at a detailed level, it is not as good as it needs to be. I have a similar music count to @Vicpa (currently): Album Artists: 1906 Artists: 5673 Composers: 8022 (I estimate the embedded tags are 90+% accurate/complete for these 3 fields.) While Emby gives a (filtered) choice of Album Artist/Artist/Composer menu tabs, as soon as you drill down to an individual level, there is no difference for a music entity that happens to be all of the 3 categories. E.g., I have 37 Paul McCartney (individual performer) Albums and 1231 Paul McCartney (grouped) Songs listed in all 3 views, there is no Album Artist/Artist/Composer filtering applied on the distinct pages, irrespective of the top-level category. Of the 1231 Songs, only 438 (or 35%) are performed by Paul McCartney as an individual Artist. The other 65% comprise: The Beatles, Wings and 80+ other Artist (not McCartney) performers. The above example illustrates that the current grouping of the Album Artist/Artist/Composer entities can severely dilute/pollute designated music views and playback selections. The recent (good) improvement of the Genre pages also highlighted the above problem. There are already Sort by options for Album Artist/Artist/Composer. Perhaps a possible solution is to add Filter options as well, in appropriate places, to give everyone a choice with how they wish to view and playback their music. In some instances, grouping could work well, but in many instances filtering/separation is very much needed. So Emby, what do you think? Easy or difficult? Likely probable for the near future or somewhat possible for the far future??? Thanks for considering.

Hi After the latest update on my iPad and while watching anything on Emby, the client suddenly goes back to the dashboard (home). I'm running iPadOS 17.5. It does not logout, just cuts off and displays the Home screen. So far I noticed that it happens randomly if I use any of the playback controls (pause, forward and backward) and sometimes while playing. It also happens if I'm on the settings page. Are you aware of this bug? Thanks

Glad I found your response! I was just running into the same problem only on my iPhones running the app (Chrome on same phone was fine). Nothing obvious showing in the server logs for why it was giving the no compatible streams playback error. Deleted and reinstalled the Emby app and everything is working again.

Also, everything plays with no problem on Emby on my PC. The files that play with Transcoding on the Roku play as Direct with no problem on my PC. If there was a network issue of some kind, shouldn't everything drag on the Roku? Not just the same files, over and over?

What is the correct info? It lists I am VIP with zero download history if that is what your asking, while I can go to my .org account and I have over 55k downloads. So obviously whatever integration is with the .com plugin isn't working whether it be the way it calls the API or something it just flat doesn't work.

Running Emby 4.8.7.0 on Synology NAS DS218+ with 6 GB RAM. NAS Storage is at 45%. Overall, no problems for years, playing 3-10 minute MP4 music video files to my LG UHD TV, through Roku box (Emby 4.1.19). Recently I am getting buffering during loading on SOME videos, which then pause and buffer during playback. Stats show Transcode running (H264 15.02 Mbs), also Deinterlacing. Many of the videos play without any issue as Direct Play (15 Mbs). This is the way they all used to play. I have turned off Transcoding within Emby settings, rebooted everything, and it makes no difference. Re-scanned the files more than once. The videos that transcode are always the same ones. Side by side with videos that run without problem. No apparent difference between them except how they play back. There are no other apparent issues on the NAS or within the Roku box itself. I must be missing something, but don't know what. Why is Playback ignoring my setting that turns off transcode? "Network Quality" within Emby is set to Auto, but it seems to ignore that also, if I force to another setting. I would appreciate any suggestions, thanks.

upgrade Linux emby docker image / container works without any problems. I didn't do anything and MediaInfo is still working

I have several Emby clients some Android based and some Roku. The Rokus will automatically exit after a period of time and that behavior is fine but I have a use that I would like to use Emby for that requires that the client be willing to sit, with playback paused, for a long period of time. The Rokus are unsuitable for that use and even the Fire TV would be hard to use because it does not have its own storage or the ability to take addon devices directly. I could resurrect my old Shield TV or acquire another device for my needs but i just want to know going in if the timeout intrusion that Roku has does not exist with whatever device I choose. BTW: Remote access is meaningless for my needs. Thanks for any info.
