As many of you know, we are currently working hard on getting Emby Server 3.6 released. We would like to take this opportunity to give you some advance information on some of the changes that are coming.
New Levels of Performance Emby Server, as well as all Emby apps will perform faster than ever. The server can now easily scale to massive libraries, and the faster speed and reduced loading times will probably be the first thing you'll notice after upgrading to 3.6.

We're pleased to announce that Emby Server is now available for Arm64 (aarch64) CPU's.

A new update to the Android TV app will be released soon with a new fresh look and "smooth scrolling" capability in the live TV guide as well as new vertically scrolling grid views.

The live TV guide has received a make-over and now has smooth scrolling through both channels and time instead of the old "paging" implementation.

Android 8 (Oreo) is in the process of being rolled out on the Nvidia Shield and the Emby for Android TV app now goes with it like a tall glass of milk .
New Launcher
Oreo brings with it a new launcher on Android TV which allows each individual app to have its own entire row(s) on the device home screen. Emby for Android TV will automatically add one of these rows (called "channels" in Android) to your device home screen the first time it runs under Oreo.

New Video Player
The app can now direct play quite a few formats thanks to the new video player. This results in less transcoding on your Emby Server and a better playback experience.
Wake On Lan
The app can now send wake on lan signals to your Emby Server. To send a wake on lan signal, select the "Wake Server" option on the app's server connection screen.

We're pleased to announce LDAP support for Emby Server, now supported by all Emby apps!
Installation
To setup LDAP, simply install the LDAP plugin from the Emby plugin catalog. This feature requires an active Emby Premiere subscription.
Then head over to your LDAP plugin configuration and setup the plugin to connect to your LDAP server:
Users are imported from LDAP as they sign into Emby. You can even set the default permissions for imported users:

Want to reduce on the fly transcoding? We now have a feature that can help you convert your library into streaming-friendly formats. It's easy, just right click or tap on a video and select Convert in the menu.
