Highmere 0 Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 Hello everyone, I'm a new emby user since a week or two. But there is a problem that keeps occuring. When a streamed a video to my chromecast it showed subtitles, but this was only the first day. Now when I try to stream the same movie (or other) it doesn't show any subtitles. When I pauze the video on mobile when it shows a subtitle and than stream it, it will show that sentence for a split second and nothing after. Context: - I run my emby server on a synology - I use opensubtitles as automatic source - self added subtitles are having the correct naming (showed at the ? in emby) - I have searched the forum but didn't come across some solution Thanks for helping.
Luke 38810 Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 HI there @@Highmere, can you please go over an example? Are you sure your subtitles have text at that time of the video? If you play directly on the mobile device instead of Chromecast, how does that compare?
Highmere 0 Posted February 11, 2020 Author Posted February 11, 2020 Hello, yes the subtitles work on mobile. Just not on chromecast.
gregcab81 0 Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 Hi everybody, I've a similar issue, related to streaming sub to chromecast. I attach some logs, hoping they'll be useful. Thanks in advance Leo ffmpeg-directstream-2ee82ed8-3b7b-47c6-a8c4-33233d8f851e_1.txt embyserver.txt

gregcab81 0 Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 hi there @@gregcab81, are you sure you have an issue? it looks like you haven't selected any subtitles. What exactly did you do? Hi Luke, I simply select the movie from the app, change language, select subtitle (I think they're in the mkv file). On the app, it works fine (I see subtitles), when I try to stream on chromecast, subs aren't showing. I'll try again later, and I give you new logs. Thanks for the attention

Highmere 0 Posted February 15, 2020 Author Posted February 15, 2020 Hi @@gregcab81, I fixed the my problem.there was one file that messed it up. Maybe try to redownload the file and try again. I use opensubtitles to get my subtitles. I solved my problem by using a new file and not using selfdownloaded subtitles. Hope this helps

FredMuppeteer 12 Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 I have this issue with chromecast but only on certain shows/seasons. The subs play fine on the android app or in the browser, they are named correctly, but they just don't appear when casting. I've tried replacing the srt files with ones downloaded through emby but they still don't show.

FredMuppeteer 12 Posted July 23, 2020 Posted July 23, 2020 Log attached, it was an episode of Malcolm In the Middle. There were a few sub files so I tried switching between them. Then I removed them all and downloaded a new one from open subs (through the emaby app). Strangely, when I stopped the video, the subs appeared for a split second. I hope this helps, if you have need anything else from me just let me know! embyserver.txt

Netbug 26 Posted January 14, 2021 Posted January 14, 2021 Sorry. The section on server logs here... ...is not very clear. How do we identify which log is which? I see transcode logs, emberserver logs, emberserver followed by a number. How do I know which one you need?
