Good idea, but no. No difference.

I have also tried to stop Windows Firewall - didn't help either.

Can you post the log from the newest launch without the square theme loading up

Also, check Windows Event viewer again for anything related to "ehexthost"

I'm afraid I'm stumped...

Okie, back from family business.

Hope it didn't sound like I walking away from my problem - my wife just wasn't quite happy at the time :-)

I have made a capture with Microsoft Network Monitor - don't know if a .cap could be of any help.

Also have a capture from SysInternals Procmon with lots and lots of lines from ehexthost.exe.

But since I don't know what to look for is it a bit hard to understand.

Could this help us forward?

Do you see anything that looks like an error?

Is it possible this is just a display issue?  Is it a 4:3 screen by any chance?

Ha, You are a genius  :D

Not a 4.3 but since it is running under VMware Workstation I had picked a resolution (2560x1600) suiting me best in respect to what else is on my monitor.

WMC and EMC works fine with this solution - apparently just not the themes stuff.

I changed to 1920x1080 and 2560x1440 and both worked out fine!

So lesson learned and problem solved - thanks a lot :)

PS: a last question - can I go back to my 307 version from 317 on my production system if I need? Any files to backup before upgrading?

No, there shouldn't be any issue with that.

Thanks.

Thanks.

Just for feedback. Works perfectly on my 3.5.3.0. The theme download is working - and I even got my folders sorted correctly again  :)

Thanks a lot.
