Was proper support added for separate animated gif filenames?

As discussed previously, replacing static images with animated images typically isn't viable for pages that don't display the actual animation.

I've got a collection of animated posters I'm waiting to implement when the support is added tho.

yep, as you can see, on the theater and web client gif ares not animated but on phone they are

They are only supposed to animate on the detail screen for the item. The fact that it's happening on the list screen is really by accident - only because we're sending back the original image since it does not need to be converted.

So with Kodi you just selected one of the special skins and then had to activate the animated gifs there and that's it. Where do I find this option in emby if it is already supported?!?

The animations have also been seen in the library at kodi, where it makes sense, because you don't want to click through all the films to see an animation. But it would be a good start if the images were automatically searched for and added. If you had to do it manually, luckily no one would program something like that.

There is no option to toggle. You just have a movie poster in your movie folder that is an animated gif.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find any information about what the requirements are, because I would install Kodi for that and then have the images saved via Kodi, if that doesn't work via emby.

- What should the name of the file be?

- Where do these gifs need to be stored?

- Are there any specifications regarding the size, as you will have little pleasure if you only see pixel salad from a 75 inch LED TV?

- You will also be able to see the moving pictures on the home page, because that's where you mainly want to see them.

Not that I'm doing the work now and in the end it was a waste of time because the result looks like shit.

You can just have your movie poster image file be a .gif, so for example poster.gif.

So simply moving a file with the name poster.gif into the folder would have been possible somehow, but of course that doesn't work, because the fact that the Dateiposter.jpeg doesn't overwrite. If you delete all poster.jpeg this leads to the fact that you no longer see an image if there is no gif image, otherwise it only works by entering manually, or copy and paste, the Internet link where it is stored.

 

Looking for a mini-jobber who will exchange the gifs for the next two years. Storage from the server is only about 100 TB, so that should be done in two years, because there is simply no other kind of automatism. Either you add the pictures, but then they are not used, because the original exists, or you replace everything manually, for which every person who has a full-time job probably lacks the time. Maybe it's just me, but this function doesn't do you any good. You can only see them when you click on the movie, so neither on the homepage nor anywhere else and unfortunately this is not well solved either, because Kodi manages to display these gifs in the overview. In addition, it does not seem to be so easy to find the gifs in an adequate size. 500pixel resolution doesn't look nice on a 4K TV. Fortunately, I wanted to take a look at this low resolution in advance, because (always check first before claiming something like that) now I feel maximally fooled!! These gifs are ONLY displayed on the PC and not in the emby app!! WTF!!!

What Emby app and version number do you feel they're not being displayed in?

Hi.  Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares?

There are options that control the display of posters on details screens. Explore your user settings.
