I just checked Theater, and for it's detail screen, it's asking for max-width of 800, so if it's under 800 wide, then it should work on Theater as well, and I have tested and confirmed this.

Please note that over time these values could change as the layout evolves.

Sorry, no, not saying never. It just reminded me of the early days of web sites and all those colored, animated gifs... :).

In isolation (like on a detail screen), those could look cool. I don't think a whole poster wall of them at once would be desirable, however.

These are very pretty and the I think there is a place for them but agree it would not be front and center, would give a nice edge over competition

Please don't mis-interpret this as a commitment, but if you run the beta server, then the web app detail screen should preserve the gif animation if the source image height is less than 360.

If it's larger than 360 height then we have to convert the image and that's when the animation is lost.

Most of these need major work, but wanted to show how cool they are looking. Ignore the image and video quality using free screen recorder.

P.S. I created the backgrounds in a similar way, but they are mp4.

Edit: Music plays might want headphones:

Isn't that neat! I really wasn't expecting them to work on the list poster screens. That's probably due to the display sizes being large enough to fit your original images without requiring conversion.

Yeah I keep all the images small enough so no conversion would be need. They work on the web app to as long as you have a very large screen. Both the gifs and the background videos look better on a larger screen. The gifs all need work, but for first try I am happy for the most part. Thanks for letting me know about these working with the beta server!

I like them on the series view. Not sure about the TV show view.

Yeah it takes a bit to get used to them all moving at the same time like that, but honestly after looking at it a bit it's not that bad.

Check my comments from earlier. You can make it work, albeit in limited fashion.

I just came across this today. This is awesome and I would like to see Animated gif support added and, if possible, a way to automate the download/ installation/ update process...

Nice work!

And another vote from me, this is pretty cool.

So the image has to be under 800x350 for the GIF to work?

Would be nice to be able play a few GIF's mixed in photo galleries in browser viewer, but not a big deal.
