Thanks for the scan. I've been looking at the guide data source that we have (our upstream) and how feasible it would be to add AU / NZ data. I should have some sample data / lineups available shortly, but they'd be more for demonstration purposes because it won't be updated every day.

Thanks rkulagow for looking into the EPG data for us Aussies. Sorry we have to make things more painful than they need to be, it just seems to be what we do :(

I would like to know this as well.

I'm also interested in this.

I don't seem to see why guide data - ota or other pulled by WMC, Next Pvr or Mediaportal doesn't work. The same backends pull guide data that Kodi uses.

Those three work just fine. We have plugins for all three.

Hi Luke . I've got Mediaportal set up but Emby isn't using the EPG from it. When I run Kodi it uses the EPG that Mediaportal downloads.

You have to install MPExtended https://github.com/puenktchen/MediaPortalTVPlugin/releases/download/latest/MPExtended-Service-0.6.1-beta.zip on your TVServer machine

and the MediaPortal plugin from Embys plugin catalogue.

It's been a couple of months, has there been any progress in an Australian epg for emby? I am very keen to sign up and give you all my money. lol

@@Luke @@rkulagow

There have been problems with an Australian provider recently - Icetv, the company went into administration and another company bought the rights to the epg software. I lost a years paid subscription which I paid upfront. Perhaps you could strike a deal with the new company for the epg data? Their contact is support@icetv.com.au.

Still working with our upstream to determine if they're going to be able to give us a good feed. The other thing is the "build it and they will come" issue; without a firm commitment from users, it's difficult to spend the money and then find out that we only had a few folks pony up the $$$ to pay for the service.

Icetv lets you download an xmltv file. There are live TV backends ie mediaportal that allow xmltv import. Maybe it's worth looking into a different backend that will allow this?

EIT EPG from DVB streams and XMLTV should be added to Emby so users from all countries can use native Live TV.

For now, DVBLink backend has to be used.

NextPVR is working fine for me. channel change is a bit slow but it works and is pretty easy to set up. I got it running with a WinFast DVT1000S DVB The guide works well also.

Whats ETA with your upstream on any workable solution for us here in AUS.

Can understand the concern around $$$ but im sure as a couple here have advised, after the recent changes to icetv we are more than willing to jump ship for a solid provider :)

Plus, you make all of us haply and we will only spread the word :)

I struggled with NextPVR for a week or so, but useless guide data and a complete failure to get it to accept xml output from EPG Collector became a deal breaker in the end. Have reverted back to ServerWMC without issue, will revsit all this in six months when the Theatre Client is more mature, and actually has a guide anyhow.

As far as IceTV goes, to be expected really, wtf charge $99/year for what is essentially free data.

I can't speak for your country but I can tell you that in the US it is most certainly not free data. Even if the underlying raw data was free, it is their business model to curate it, and improve it by adding related data to tie it into other sources, strike deals with other providers to get access to nice images, etc. When someone reports a channel missing or showing the wrong data, someone has to look into it by hand, just like you see rkulagow does for Schedules Direct. Those things all cost money.

What exactly didn't NextPVR like about your TV Guide? There is stacks of people using xmltv files from EPG Collector, and there is no known issues in this area of the app. I'm happy to help you through it, but you'll need to provide info (ie answer questions). I'm sure it'll be something very minor, and you'd be up and running quickly.

@@sub3 I posted the file, as you asked.

@@Luke, I'm in australia mate, pretty big market down here for a simple/working soultion. ;-)

People tell me that the Stream works well using a scraper like EPG Collector (which is free), but I can't get it to work, and support seems minimal, so would I pay for a curated service? hell yes, would I pay $100/year? not likely. I paid $99 here and got a lifetime license, not yearly. :-)

I wonder what the charge would be for scedules direct if they ever decide to break into the southern hemispere.

I've got that xmltv file working fine in NextPVR. I'll respond in your orginal thread that mentioned it, in case you're still interested in pursuing it. I'm sure it's something simple.

I have posted couple of questions in the icetv forum asking them for support and from their feedback it is unlikely however if there is more users posting it may change.

Another cool feature i asked if they could implement is thumbnails in tv guide and they said they looked into it but didnt receive feedback from Microsoft and didnt go ahead and now that wmc is no more it is unlikely.

I have asked here couple of times as a feature request since emby can get thumbnails for movies and from tv series what is stopping it from getting series info for tvguide when it can get it for movies. As thetvdb.com has a number of australian shows at least it will be partly filled and if we could use the web client to fill the rest of it. It will be a bit of work but at least it is a workaround and it will make emby theater enjoyable to use.

Thanks

This is what my hdhomerun returns
