you don't need to exit the app for the sync process to run. you can just wait for the periodic background sync to happen automatically. logging out and then back in is just a quick way to force it to run for testing purposes.

1. Add a Movie item to a TV library

That's not really supported. It's never been the intention to allow that. I will need to review the metadata manager to make sure that isn't possible to configure. 7, don't spend any time on that.

Yea!!! The context and User icon menus are now working on my troublesome machine. Thank You 7.

 

One thing so far Any entrance to a tv show brings you to the next up screen, like that. When you click on a season, the drill down to the shows doesn't work.

Ok, just updated to the last version and then ran another sync job on one of my TV Shows. This one I synced at High quality. The sync job ran fine. I went into the app and now whenever I try to open that file the app crashes.

 

The TV Show I synced earlier opens and plays just fine. The only one that crashes the app is the latest one.

I'm seeing something similar.

 

For servers I see my normal server.  I'm also seeing both windows 8.1 clients showing up as servers.  Does this have something to do with "offline mode"?

Are we going to be able to sync some files to a client, then allow other clients to login to it and share the content sort of like the other company does or be able to cast it to CC or DLNA devices?

After trying to remove an episode of Sleepy Hollow from the AnyTime area (Charms --> Sync Settings --> Sync Jobs --> Episode --> Remove) The remove button does not seem to do anything - If I delete the job from the menu the episode is gone from the Sync Jobs area however it's still listed in the app as Synced and still present under AnyTime.

The server tells the client what to remove or add during the sync process. So the next time the app syncs, then the content will be removed.

For servers I see my normal server.  I'm also seeing both windows 8.1 clients showing up as servers.  Does this have something to do with "offline mode"?

Are we going to be able to sync some files to a client, then allow other clients to login to it and share the content sort of like the other company does or be able to cast it to CC or DLNA devices?

I don't see my other clients showing up under servers.

 

A couple UX, UI questions or thoughts. I understand the sync happens in the background, we are all so eager we want to see it happen right away, opening and closing the app makes that happen. why question is what/when kicks off the content showing up under anytime ?

I would think the UX would be something like. Kick off a sync job, latter check see if job is completed. People will check one or both places. Sync jobs or Anytime Library. 

 

Currently the sync job will show as complete but the Anytime library doesn't seem to be updated until the app is closed an opened again. Is this just a timing thing ? If we let things run in the background as designed, Will everything be in sync for sync, Job status and Anytime Library content ? If not and the overhead is not prohibitive I would suggest that the magic be kicked of as part of the click on the anytime library.

 

I have an opinion for what it is worth. Sync for the initial release should NOT include Playlists, Genre, Collections. For a couple of reasons. 1) the are a lot of nuances around diverse content lists. Is some already local, how programmatically do you find it etc. Currently it seems the folder structure from the server is being duplicated locally, I don't know what mechanism is used for content discovery, but would think it needs to be pretty robust to support Collections etc. 2) From a purely practical standpoint. If content needs to be transcoded given the current time that takes (not a criticism) unless your group is only a couple (2?) the overall time it takes, days or weeks is probably prohibitive. Just sync the two items and be done with it.  3) Sync is a pretty complex thing, my compliments to Luke and 7 et al. who are making this happen, it is a killer feature. If the initial release is frozen without these features testing, hardening and initial support will be much smoother. Besides people always like "Coming Soon to an App near you" . Just my two cents.
