gejianya 4 Posted March 27 Posted March 27 When third-party video apps integrate with Emby media servers, movies are directly displayed on the app's homepage via metadata APIs. However, music videos (e.g., MVs) are only accessible through folder navigation (e.g., "Music Videos" → Folders → File Selection). This causes two critical usability issues: No Homepage Content: The "Music Videos" homepage remains empty, forcing users to manually browse folders. Lack of Shuffle Playback: Third-party apps cannot activate shuffle mode for folder-based content, resulting in a fragmented experience (e.g., manually selecting each 3-minute video). Root Cause Analysis: Metadata API Limitations: Emby's default API likely prioritizes movies/TV shows, while music videos are treated as generic "folder items" without dedicated metadata endpoints. Content Classification: Music videos may be mislabeled as "music" (e.g., .mp3-like metadata) instead of "video," causing apps to exclude them from video-centric interfaces. User Impact: Inefficient Navigation: High-volume, short-duration content (e.g., 500+ MVs) requires excessive clicks. Poor Playback Experience: Absence of shuffle mode contradicts music video consumption patterns (e.g., continuous playback). ——use deepseek translate

Luke 39857 Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Hi, this is not true. Did you setup a library using the music videos content type?

What third party app? This is not an Emby problem. You need to report this to the third party app and ask them to add the feature.
