MoCon233 4
You can see,the SynologyNAS package version is only 4.7.x. Please update the Synology NAS package VERSION to 4.8.x or 4.9.x! Thanks!
Luke 38096
HI, yes we'll be submitting 4.8.2 to Synology once we release that. Thanks.

I installed 4.7.14 on a Synology DS1520+ a week ago. Since then I've tried it on multiple device (fire TV, android TV, LG smart TV, etc.). I like it and bought the lifetime premier membership. I am looking forward to the upcoming 4.8.2 on Synology. I prefer to having the native app there rather than installing it manually. Please keep up the good work. I think this could become the best media server in the future.
Luke 38096
Thanks for the feedback. The reason we wait is because the Synology review process takes a long time, therefore it doesn't make sense to submit 4.8.0 to them when we know there will probably be a 4.8.1 a week later, 4.8, etc. So it's just a balance of choosing the right time.
Gummibeer 3
Hey, I'm here with the same issue and totally understand and already thought that the problem is the Synology side. But could you make it easier to find the correct Synology release from GitHub? Synology vs Synology7 vs Synology72 Synology vs Synology Mono My DS1522+ uses a AMD Ryzen R1600 (x86-64) and running on DSM 7.2.1 - so my guess would be that I need the emby-server-synology72_4.8.3.0_x86_64.spk release. But I'm not sure and also don't know what would happen if I install the wrong one?

I don't recommend you to install it manually unless you installed it manually last time, because some configurations of manual installation are different from those downloaded from the store.
jackzhang 0
What's the status on updating Synology Package Center? I think the current version is 4.8.6 now and we are still on 4.7.14 here.

Hi, we’ve sent 4.8.6 to Synology for review so it’s just a matter of waiting out that process.

Luke 38096
Unfortunately the review process is out of our control but we’ll try bugging them about it and see if that spurs them.
NSBrad 1
Is there a guide on migrating from the store version to a manual install? I'm thinking I should finally make the move with how slow Synology is for the approvals. It's a bit ridiculous how slow they are.
Luke 38096
I don’t think there’s much of a migration. You just install one on top of the other. @FrostByte have you tried it?

I tried to install it manually, and the directory is different from the one installed by Synology Store. So if you installed it in the store before, you have to install it in the store to protect your data. Please let Synology Store update!

I've found the directory to be the same in both store and manual installs. There was a directory change a while back, but it had to do with changes in DSM which Emby was conforming to. I'm not sure if you've looked at all the relevant directories via ssh, I have two Synology servers, dsm6 and dsm7 tested both, installed manually and via the store, but their directories are not the same.

That's correct. If switching from DSM6 to DSM7 then there will be a change in folder locations. The Emby user also changes to a system internal one and a few other changes. There's a rather big migration going to DSM7.

I've been on DSM7 for a while now so it sounds like it should be straight forward. I was concerned about stuff like the directory structure when I asked the question. Making the switch from Store to Manual a pain in the butt seems like something Synology would do.
rpgweb 5
This is weird, i just looked at the latest available version on Synology today for my DS923+, and it is still 4.7.14 , no Version 8 in sight. Is it possible that the Version 8 is still not available for some NAS models? 4.7.14 is more than 2 years old based on the release notes....that's a long time without updates Edited July 3 by rpgweb

So one has to choose waiting on Synology or manually updating.
Luke 38096
They have 4.8.8 in review now and we were told that if it passes it would be released mid-July. So right now all we can do is wait.

Jeffg2024 5
Very glad to see Synology upgraded Emby server directly to 4.8.8. Now it's up to date until 4.9. lol. Thanks for your efforts.
