  1. Hi guys. I'm Jamin. Emby is the reason my machine exists, love this stuff. I cant sing the praises of this product enough. Just figured I had to throw that in here as its my first post after a good 6 months loving this forum as a resource and the product for being so badass. My machine is named badass only because its how i describe emby. Awesome work! Now that I got my e-hug out of the way onto why I'm here. It has been a ride for this box I started with windows 10 had everything working but windows update sucks and would mess with emby when an update was pending.. So I said "the hell with you windows.. you don"t get to mess with Emby" and completely disowned the product on all my machines as a primary OS. Dove right into linux, the OS I have been avoiding my entire IT career just because Emby deserved better. Had it up and running on Ubuntu 16.04 everyone could connect but Emby would still crash. Determined to have an uncrashable emby on a stable OS i went to Mint 17.04. I got everything setup, sonarr, couch potato, all working together in perfect harmony. I re invite my friends and family and i start getting texts saying it crashed. I'm like screw you it crashed I'm using it right now.. Your problem not mine.. Then I tried getting on with connect.. Oops my bad complaining friends and family it is me... So for days now I have been tripple checking my ports, rebooting the router, the system, kicked mooching neighbors off the wifi.. Nada. My ports are as open as the secrets on Hillary's server.. I can get on through my public IP.. Connect refuses to work. I'm not sure what i need to provide you guys with to get some help but I'm seriously stumped. Good news is emby hasn't crashed once since installing a week ago, so I at least got that mix right.. If there is something I need to show you just give me a clue where to get it and I'm on it. Thank you in advance. PLEASE HELP ME Thanks again.. In the name of the father, the son, and emby... amen.
  2. Hey all. I was wondering if anyone had come across a similar problem recently.. running the latest (installed yesterday via the instructions on the site) Mediabrowser server on an Ununtu 14.04 LTS install.. Attempting to get images for a series does not work, in fact I cannot download any series images through the metadata manager (automatically, through refresh, or by individually choosing). At first it was giving me an access denied error, so I changed permissions on the disk to be writable to all users just to see if that would help. I still got an error though in the webclient, stating that there was "An Error downloading the file ... " for individual items (refreshing did not work either still). Strangely enough though I was able to add the folders to my library just fine as they were seen immediately. Attached is the log for the event(s), with the most recent error where the permissions were changed being the very last error on the log. I'm pretty new to Linux in general so if I'm missing something obvious here I'd love to know.. Any help would be greatly appreciated server-63561740443.txt.zip

    How would i fix subtitles.

So i am running on Version 3.0.5675.1 and one of the issues i have come across is internal subtitles on files not actively registering, on any of my files. Other than one or two exceptions subtitles and alternative audio languages are not appearing as options, regardless of client. As i am using linux and have very little idea how to use folder perms or ACL i naturally assume it is User Error, But i figured i would check here just in case it was not entirely a Linux issue.
  4. Hello all! Posting to see if any have had similar issues and know how to solve them: The first issue I have had is that the display of subtitles always lags behind (about 3 seconds at times) to the point where entire sections will be skipped. To give a little background.. The device(s) playing the files are always Web browsers (mainly Chrome). Almost all of this media is in the form of MKV files with the subtitles embedded/attached as ASS format. The Mediabrowser server is an Ubuntu 14.04 LTS system, with the Mediabrowser version being 3.0.5518.7 (have tried with fresh install a few times and I still get these issues). I've played these same files using other media delivery platforms (Plex etc.) and the subtitles showed up just fine and with the correct timing, so I am positive that the files themselves are not corrupt/incomplete/incorrect (or, rather, that there must be a way to read them in the way I'm trying to). Attached are the logs that were generated by starting up the server and then playing part of one of the files in question, where the subtitles were significantly lagged behind the video and skipping sections.. The second issue I am getting, is that I seem to be running into some issues with the process itself hanging, crashing, etc. in Ubuntu. The Web UI will work perfectly fine for as long as I personally keep the server up, however, after about a day or so of the server running fine [except for the subtitles thing noted above], it will only return black screens in playback and upon attempts at playback will eventually freeze up in whatever browser is playing files, requiring a server restart (and sometimes even two, where the server becomes unresponsive after the first few seconds and requires another restart before it will function "normally" again). Situations where a second server restart is required often involve me getting something like "Removing stale /var/run/mediabrowser.pid * MediaBrowserServer: not running" in the terminal, even though that second restart actually will get the server going again. These restarts are all done under the sudo service mediabrowser restart command. I'll keep an eye out for some logs that are created around when that specific issue occurs, but until then I was curious if anyone was having what sounded like similar issues that they were able to solve. For the record, I also tried grabbing my own install of ffmpeg, linking it, and seeing if that helped. While the link functioned fine that didn't seem to solve these particular issues (subtitles and process hanging). logs.zip
