I am in the process of setting up my Harmony Ultimate Remote to control WMC & Emby. It was not obvious to setup from Logitech software so I did some research and found a post from Logitech after they had kindly added the function to the remote and software. Here is the instructions if you need them. Device type: Computer -> Media Center PC Manufacturer: Microsoft Model: Windows Media Center SE I want to thank “Bevhoward” for sending us his Windows Media Center keyboard. !!KUDOS!! I would also like to thank my colleague Cristian for creating the IR language and for adding the new device to our database. The Media Center keyboard allowed us to capture the IR codes used to send hotkeys such as “Alt+F4” to close an application directly and “Win+D” to “minimize all” to the desktop. We also captured the mouse commands and an FAQ will follow with button mapping suggestions for the mouse control. Below is a list of the newly added commands/hotkeys: (Please note that these commands may not work on all Media Center IR receivers; the commands have been tested and confirmed working with the original Microsoft IR Receiver) This forum thread is not for MCE users using Imon, Linux or other third party applications and/or IR receivers that do not use the Microsoft IR protocol. I'm posting this in the LG forum, as it's my primary consumption device (running on a 55OLEDB8 and an SK8500) but it seems to be a strange UI behaviour across many other platforms. I've enabled Chapter image creation on my library and when looking at the info for a movie I can see the chapters listed with their thumbnails way down the bottom of the page after the actor bios. First thing, I think this a bad UI design decision, placing functional content below informational. I have to scroll past all the actor bios to get to it. I can click on a chapter in the list and it will play the movie from that point; that's good. But if I'm playing a movie I seem to have no ability to skip back and forth through chapters with my remote control, or view a chapter list without stopping playback and going back to the movie info page. Is this deliberate? It's feels very counter-intuitive to me, and unlike any other video playback system I've used. Likewise, when playing back in a web browser, there's no way to skip chapters that I can find. If I drag the transport controller back and forth through the timeline it updates the thumbnail as I pass a chapter point, but it doesn't snap to chapter points. The buttons normally assigned to chapter skip on my remote control seem to instead be configured to skip through items in a playlist. While I can appreciate this for music I never use playlists for video and would appreciate the ability to modify this behaviour based on what media type is playing. Am I missing anything or doing something wrong?

How to automatically make subtitles select 'Eng' instead of 'Off'
KumarjitDey posted a topic in General/Windows
By default, it seems like the subs remain turned 'off'. How to get them to set to 'Eng' by default, not having to change it for every movie. Here's a snap from Emby Theater: -
If windows 10 is free for everyone... Then... ??
chef replied to chef's topic in Non-Emby General Discussion
When you snap an open window to one side of the screen, any other open windows move to other side of the screen, in a sort of mini versions. You seem to be able to then choose from the other open application windows and "snap" up/down/ and fully to the other side of the screen. Win 7 had it, but it wouldn't show the mini open windows on the opposite side. This will probably make for easier comparison of open windows. -
As a newly minted life-time supporter, I finally feel not guilty about making feature requests, so consider this my first vote. Smart playlist functionality is basically the only feature missing in Emby that is preventing me from dropping Kodi--no offense to Kodi, it's just that for 99% of my needs, Emby does a fine job. P.S. adding live TV capabilities and DVR from my newly-purchased HDHomeRun was a snap, so kudos! Made pulling the trigger on Premiere that much more satisfying.

Ah snap.. I missed this in everything else I was doing. I apologize. When I test these they play perfectly fine on my Roku Ultra. These do have Vorbis audio both of them in 5.1 surround so maybe that has something to do with it. I am not sure why this is happening for you your samples play perfectly fine for me. What model number of Roku is this you are using? Sorry if you mentioned already it is late and I am tired. Edit: Does using the "Playback Correction" option in app help? Keep pressing it until it appears to solve the issue. This might be an issue with the Roku firmware too. If this is a RokuTV some RokuTV models cannot support 60fps properly. There is an option in settings to let those with RokuTV change this to fix issues.

I know this is an old thread but very curious if there was any development on making Emby a SNAP Package?

The more I poke around Emby, the more I like it. For one thing, I love the responsiveness of the devs. Not long ago, I complained that, while on Emby for Android in portrait mode, the items in the "My Media (small)" section on the Home Screen didn't fit right. And you know what? Now they're fixed. I installed the recent server beta (v.3.6.0.84, currently) and now I can have inline collections for Movies, TV Shows, Music, and probably Audiobooks (I don't know about the last one yet---My libraries are still being scanned after the update and that one hasn't populated yet). Inline collection settings are also independent from each other, both per library and per user. Libraries now have multiple "mount points" that are configurable per user. That means I can have a single "Movies" library that points to these folders for me, this folder for my wife, and that folder for my daughter---but it's still just the one library on the backend. I don't need to have a different "Kids Movies" library anymore if I prefer not to. Media playback is freaking fast. Oh my gosh, is it fast. I don't even have that great an upload speed from my house, but remote playback speed and responsiveness is all flavors of impressive. Emby has been dumping buckets of nfo metadata files into my media folders. Because I told it to. But now that means if I ever have to rebuild my libraries, repopulating the (even custom) metadata will be a snap. I mean, sure, there are plenty of ways in which Plex looks "cooler", but I'm having a lot of fun poking around and having this "hey, I didn't know I could do that." sort of feeling with Emby. There are also a lot more ways to customize the experience with Emby---such as specifying which navigation tab to open by default on which library for which user---and that customization can entirely be made by me, and is not left up to my users to fiddle around with especially when they wouldn't know what they're doing messing with it. Also, I know the Roku app needs some work, but the Emby devs have already said they know that and will get to it. And when they say they'll get to it, I believe them. As opposed to Plex, who usually say nothing at all; and if Plex does get to it, it's usually only some of it, and then they only get to it when they get to it, which is probably after getting to other things nobody wants.

Hijack isn't so much.. you aren't deviate from the main topic.. You are sort of hitch-hiking onto the thread and hitched a free ride.. moreso.. But that aside.. you should be using the Emby Beta for Roku. This is the version we presently develop and release for testing. Then once this is matured for so long of a period it is released to the store. The beta doesn't mean broken, or lacks features, or anything. It just means the beta we can push publish at any time and have a new version that fast *snap your fingers*. On the store Roku must approve and we are at their whims of when they press publish. So it is in your best interest if you are active on the forums is to stay on the Beta on both server and apps. In that way you can ride the cusp of development and your input directly matters to us the most since you are participate in the Beta. Thanks for helping us if you choose to and please keep us informed of any issues. I can look at this issue later today and see WTF is up and where the difference is. As I stated I put this on the issue tracker today to keep others in the team on it. So if I cannot alone. Combined somebody will. It shall not be overlooked or swept under the rug. As far as importing playlists @@Luke is there any special route to take so these can be retained?

Smart playlists is a Kodi core feature and configured within a snap, but requires a local DB with Emby for Kodi. https://kodi.wiki/view/Smart_playlists

I'm opening this in the hope I get suggestions in how to overcome some changes that I have to make in my homelab. Currently I have an all-in-one debian server that makes it all. It's based on a Supermicro X10SL7-F with an integrated sas board for a total of 14 ports, of which I am using 10 for two arrays. The cpu is an e3-1231v3 and has 32gb ECC avail. The host manages the NAS part and then has vbox and docker provision. I run emby in a docker container. I must say that I'm obsessed by the idea of running the homelab on solar panels, so I leave this server powered down for the most of the time. Recently, I had a power surge and lost half of my network so I replaced it with a decent 10gbe switch, unifi aps, and implemented vlans. And there is where the change necessity arrives. I started a pfsense/opnsense implementation for a router/firewall replacement. I had configured it in an old htpc mitx rig I had lying around but I liked it so much. Then I thought it could be nice to run something more on this rig, as it will be 24h/365d on. For example the unify controller and a small nas for those things you always need. Like portable apps and music. I currently have to turn the server on for playing music. So I thought I would need an EXSI machine that runs all the above. And why not, also emby for playing music. I would leave the supermicro for virtual machines and movies/series storage. I wanted the new rig to be hw transcoding capable (i3-7100/i3-8100) but with this supposed "processors" shortage I'm really tired of searching. So I came to Ryzens (R3 1200). I investigated and found that almost all ryzen boards and cpus support ecc memory but that my options doesn't seem to have integrated gpu for hw transcoding. Also I want to be able to mount a 10gbe card on the new mobo, but all the mitx boards only have one pcie. The fact I that at this point, as ryzens also support ecc, I thought of completely replace the supermicro. Then I saw that my cpu suports aes-ni (for firewall) and can't hw transcode, but I could snap-in a low end gfx card for it (is it true?), redo the host, leaving it on and call it a day. So my options are: Get an intel board+cpu combo (Asrock h370m itx/ac + i3-8100) put on it router+half the nas and emby, and leave supermicro. Get a Ryzen platform (GIGABYTE GA-AB350M-D3H + R3-1200) move all of possible to become new server (hw transcoding??) Get a gfx card (gt 1030) for that server with pass trou on the rebuilt hipervisor and leave it 24h on. (gfx transcoding possible??) What is your opinion? What path do you recommend? Do you know if hw transcoding is possible by ryzen 3 1200 or by adding a gfx card to that xeon? Thanks!

Emby Classic For WMC Causes Emby Server Crash
Diedrich replied to bling26's topic in Windows Media Center
I have a caveat on my machine though. I'll run TeamViewer, and because the video goes through my AV receiver, the screen aspect ratio will reset. Consequently, ET will sometimes snap down to windowed. That's why I was wondering if I would be able to add some scripting to a file to have it always open full screen. -
prepare yourself for the deluge of complaints. mainly it spawns a new dialog so large it covers the entire emby window. Now when clicking out, it isn't quick as it was before. There is this initial lag, hang, before you can navigate the UI after you close the dialog that wasn't there with the old. I know when you change things it has to refresh the screen to match the choices. But it should snap back, and let you navigate as it does this. It does on the movie screen right now. But on genres (which is the new view) it doesn't. It is painfully slow and stalls the windows pointer/cursor from even displaying (just like a hung app does) over the browser window until its ready. This is what I mean as clumsy. There needs to be some optimizing done there before you make the switch. Something is dragging down performance. Check for yourself.

I can confirm it's something that only happens on systems with removed/old Emby installs. I fired up an Ubuntu VM to try and restore my 3.3.1 config, upgrade and backup it up as a 3.5 config. The new 3.5 config doesn't work in OpenSUSE Emby 3.5, says "Invalid Date". Anyway, during a clean remove of 3.3 on the Ubuntu VM (dpkg -r emby-server, rm -R /var/lib/emby, rm -R /opt/emby-server), reinstall Emby after that caused the same permission issue in Ubuntu that I saw in OpenSUSE. I suspect you'll probably start seeing it more as people move from legacy to the current builds. Edit: Have you guys considered a snap package? Considering you package in ffmpeg and .net/mono all together anyway, it certainly sounds to me like it would deal with the problem of having a million Linux distros to support.

Roku Movie Selection Window Jumping Happening. I Have No Idea How To Fix It.
Arkieboy72472 posted a topic in Roku
Every time I finish a movie, when I back out and go back to the "All Movies" screen, the screen will have a 1-2 second delay and then snap back to the top. It has never done this until this past week. Also, if I just got done watching a movie that is halfway down the list (I have 424 movies, so say the movie starts with the letter S), I can no longer scroll back up to the top (where the movies that start with the Letter A reside). This is a very annoying bug/glitch and I don't know where it came from or how to fix it. What all information do you all need to help me? Specs: Server: Windows 8.1 Emby Version 3.3.1.0 Device used: Roku Stick, Roku 2, Roku Premere + Movie Section: 424 movies, various codecs Problem Started: Since the beginning of last week -
Emby not saving music artist artwork and metadata into media folders

You could also use the portable version. If emby is install this way all the artist info is installed under metadata folder inside the emby folder. Makes backing up the entire thing a snap. -
ok, please bear with me. I am going to provide logs, at end, as well as inline images... I noticed a problem with my EMBY server tonight (Version 3.2.60.0 on windows 10) no recent windows updates, I believe the server updated a week or so ago, but problem only seemed to occur after a reboot tonight. first, got a error message when playing a file (see log #1, emby-nogo-cm-5x13.log ** FILE 1** that's the log just under the main log (I guess the decoder file) I did verify that there is a file there, (as shown below here...) Next I tried another episode Criminal minds emby-nogo-cm-5-14emby-nogo-cm-5x14.log.log ** FILE 2** didn't snap a picture -- same results as previous message. Next is the emby-nogo.log ** FILE 3** at this time i rebooted pc and logged in again. next I tried a file in a different directory and for some reason,emby-ok-tds-2017-120.log also worked. ** FILE 4** I then looked in my logs file, and found something from last week I know (also) worked (last week tonight emby-ok-lwt-fron 01-03-18.log ** FILE 5 ** and last, I included the main-emby-01-03-18-0000.log ** FILE 6** and finally my most current log-file from main-emby-01-06-18-2140.log so, I hope I posted enough info to figure out why some stuff isn't playing again, let me know if I need to add more info, and what. thanks again

Don't let the numbers fool you sometimes there are big number differences and it's only 1 release in difference... Usually the emby plugin is a couple weeks behind the latest release https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/releases I was actually wondering if emby would consider ubuntus method of snap packaging in the future would be nice if freenas integrated that in the future

yeah its s simple navigation click, i didnt even realize there were two different sounds till noow the sound is more like a snap tiss

Theater Playback High Memory Usage Compared to Edge
UnderMiner replied to UnderMiner's topic in Windows & Xbox
Thanks for the advice regarding the NIC and your experience. In my case, the Surface Pro 3 does not have wired LAN adapter, I would have to purchase one for testing. We will use Microsoft Edge for the moment unless there are other utilities or methods to diagnose the unique behavior of ET. For reference, I tested the internet bandwidth while playing a video with VLC and with Edge paused on recorded TV from the Emby Server. I attached a snap shot of the results. -
I really like Emby Server, even though I have only played with it for a few hours. But, I really need a this Linux app. I tried to do it myself but I can't get it to work. Any chance on a .deb or a snap or flatpack install anytime soon?

Well we have just the two of us and our young adult daughter so one user works pretty well although my wife consumes media like it will be gone tomorrow so she's always ahead of me! Our daughter would rather stream crap snap chats from her friends or some other nonsense on Youtube or watch netflix but occasionally tunes in to Emby. For us, one user seems to work out okay, especially since we aren't always switching users in the house and Alexa just now is getting comfortable with the TVTime user. I do share a couple of accounts with friends as guest accounts though and they are great for controlling what others can do with media stored on my Network.
