New version broke "Remember Last User" for local users
One2Go replied to ptvir's topic in Android TV / Fire TV
Thanks for doing this. I expected that when I am logged into the server, there are 3 horizontal dots and when clicking on them you have the option to delete the server. When doing this you get the warning dialogue box that says "Are you sure?" When clicking OK the dialogue box goes away but the server stays. So then I click on change server and it does change to the server that I selected now but it will not remember it. Next time I log in again same old server previous server and I have to change the server again. When I tried this on the Roku or on Android it behaves properly deleting the server deletes it and now you only have the choice of adding a new server and then that one stays. However on Win 11 it does not behave in the same manner. Hope this feedback helps. -

There is a collection in my movie list, but after I turn off the collection switch, the collection is still displayed in the movie list. How can I make the movies display separately in the list?

The lack of officially supported procedures for enabling secure remote access
Gilgamesh_48 replied to mausfield's topic in General/Windows
Remote is so complex that I doubt that a comprehensive guide is even possible. There are general guidelines and many help topics available but it seems that with all of those there are always exceptions so that someone posts here nearly every week with problems getting remote access to work. Follow the guide(s) and try to search the Emby blog help sections and, if you continue to have problems then post here following the guidelines in "How to report a problem" and you will receive all the help you need.- 3 replies

The lack of officially supported procedures for enabling secure remote access
mausfield replied to mausfield's topic in General/Windows
Look at me adding to the confusion lol. My mistake, I am specifically talking about reverse proxy setups, which I feel are pretty necessary given the current state of risk on the public internet.- 3 replies

One thing I did notice is that only VAAPI hardware acceleration is working. Anyone have any luck with QuickSync showing as an option?

Can anyone attest to any necessary alternations to this guide given it is about 5 years old?

i receive this issue intermittently starting a few months ago. Whats strange is a workaround i have is: renaming the file or folder containing the video causes the video to play properly after a rescan. Its unhappy with the filepath but its the correct path

fricelander started following Force user preferences

Hi, Is there a way to force user preferences (Home Screen & display customizations) to everyone ? - I'd like all users to have the same theme and accent color and activated backdrop, I can't even edit that user by user, I feel it's saved on each app or web browser but not on the server directly... - I'd like to custom the Home Screen arrangement for everyone to have the same, at least when they access their account for the first time then they can edit it, so far I have a template that I'm duplicating but I have too much users to edit who have been created before this template and it's a hassle to clean everyone. Thanks

My daughters have access to only a few of my many Playlists, despite SHARE PLAYLISTS setting set to ON.
RLanger7228 replied to RLanger7228's topic in General/Windows
I went to one of the playlists they couldn't see, clicked the ellipsis & saw "Manage Collaboration" among the choices (SS 1). When I clicked that, I saw a new screen that allows me to select who can see the playlist (SS 2). The individual playlist can be set to "Private" (defaults to no access, but individual users can be assigned view or edit access), or to "Collaborative", where all users default to view access, but individuals can be authorized to edit (SS 3). This would certainly account for the issue I was having. I labeled this post as the answer to my original question because I went into detail & provided screen shots, but it was @Luke who pointed me in the right direction, so he deserves credit. -

The lack of officially supported procedures for enabling secure remote access

IMO this is the only major roadblock for a huge amount of potential Plex refugees. These forums have a bunch of one-off guide using various setups and combinations of tools such as nginx, Windows Server IIS, Let's Encrypt, Certify the Web, Caddy, a bunch of dyndns providers, various cloud-based services, etc. Many are outdated and lack documentation, some broke in the midst of policy changes or changes in enforcement of sending non-HTML traffic through Cloudflare, etc. Point being: it's a mess and doesn't really need to be, and the unofficial guides often use inconsistent language as well as presuming a level of networking fluency that is simply never going to be commonplace among a userbase that Emby, as far as I can tell, does not wish to be purely networking pros/hobbyists. An official page on the wiki with one or two pathways to secure remote access should be set up, probably with the least amount of external service support as possible to improve stability and prevent it being a new source of troubleshooting for devs. As someone who left Plex and now pays for Emby, lacking provided HTTPS support is totally tolerable with such a guide in place.- 3 replies

fricelander started following Feedbacks on Apple Silicon Server ?
-
Hi, I've been running Emby for few years on a Lenovo m910q Tiny attached to a QNAP with 32To for storage. Never had much performance issue until I started downloading anything in HEVC 10-bits. The i5 6500-T can't transcode with hardware so the process ffmpeg is killing it. I'm considering buying a Mac Mini m4 basic configuration (16go ram & SSD 256). I would like to have some feedbacks on Emby server on Apple Silicon, is hardware acceleration 100% operational ? Is mounting a network attached drive stable ? I've seen some posts fews years ago saying there is work in progress to manage the hardware on apple Silicon but haven't seen much update since then. Thanks

When using Instant Mix option for music I cannot save the playlist
Smithras71 replied to Smithras71's topic in General/Windows
When I go to the playlists the one I created does not show up, and when I go back to "save to playlist" the newly created one is not available in the list. If I select one that already exists nothing happens. This only happens if I select the "Instant Mix" first, then try to save the queue as a playlist, I am able to create playlists other ways, but they are not randomized and I want to use the Instant mix to create a playlist that I can download for offline play, -
Hi I finally got the Emby app for Android's log on Chromebook, pls see attachment. I also attached the server debug log. I was playing a show and it played way too fast. The username is Celine. I tried the Emby version for Android TV, it runs well without any issues. Very strange. Hope you can find anything unusual. If you need more details please let me know! Thanks in advance. embyserver(2).txt emby_android_1752333697842.txt

TV Shows - by release date on home - will this work?
FarNorthMedia replied to iamwoz's topic in General/Windows
I would be keen on this -
Are there any recommendations on how to set this up? I wouldn't mind revisiting this and try to use my IPTV provider in Emby again. I had having lots of issues with freezing and channels failing to start when using Emby so I switch to using TiviMate directly and my issues all went away so I don't think it's my provider.
-
We can give feed back to the provider, but we are not sure what to tell them. The codecs and all other stuff as far as I can tell are the same on this channel over others, at least looking at VLC. If we knew what was wrong that the Roku hated, that would be helpful.
-
I figured as much. But was hoping there was something Emby could do
-
Hi. This would be fairly clear evidence that it is an issue at the source. Some players are more tolerant of bad inputs. The Roku player is not tolerant at all. It expects basically a perfectly formed input.
