FYI, since I'm the one who started this thread. I just wanted to give an update. I moved to Emby clients and with Emby server, it's super easy now to connect from the client to the Emby server. I've ditched Kodi altogether. -

Excellent! I looked over the download page (https://emby.media/windows-server.html) and I'm not sure what version is currently stable. And I can't see a page that lists version[s] that are in Beta.

There is the note in the KB: .. but there is no suggestion where should you mention required mbzalbumid. I may mave 2-5 different releases of one album, so it'll be rather useful to clarify. I tried to add a mbzalbumid=ID in the album name, but it's useless.

Yes, 4.9.0.15+ has fixed the genre shuffle/play issue on Android TV so maybe on Samsung as well, you would have to install it to be sure. There are still problems using genre shuffle/play on the web browser and android mobile depending on which genre area shuffle/play is started from. Hopefully the devs release a stable version with the current fixes so that it is mostly usable.

There is no additional CPU load as long you don't setup transcoding. Yes, it's direct play. -

Hi mic, Ahh gotcha. Then +1 for addon-mode. In this mode though do I get "direct play"? I thought I recall in my first days of emby seeing higher CPU usage with addon-mode. I assume because the video stream goes through the server. -
I'd assume you know how the process goes. How to Report a Problem Provide log from the time of occurrence, when you added new content and expected RTM to pick it up, Dev will likely comment or some fellow user encountering same issue might offer some insight.

as I said.... even I have sometimes my bright IT moments... so what now? I will restart nas and will check again tomorrow but in general, is there anything I could provide or the emby team can check without me? if only I'm affected the problem is very likely not the emby server?

That should not affect RTM, if anything - it might potentially affect metadata download, if, for example, providers were geo-blocking or blacklisting subset of IP addresses known as VPN addresses - but in that case you'd see outgoing requests timeouts in the log, as well.

then I just have only one other idea that has changed. I've set up an vpn tunnel to Nordvpn on the synology. but everything works as before, just a bit slower in max speed. every app and docker has internet access. why should the emby docker be different? and if monitoring starts but not metadata from extern there should be an log entry as well? so, it has to be the update?

That's system/OS parameter, not dependent on your membership.

Are you sure it's not related to the user accounts for those users ? - as they would not have logged into that device before ? I run isolated media vlan's and on devices that are not directly on that vlan (ie routed via a fw) I don't have any issues remote or lan ..

I have located the javascript responsible for gamepad input and a working quick fix is to simply rename it so it cannot be executed. <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8" async="" src="modules/input/gamepadtokey.js?v=4.8.1.0"></script> On your server locate the emby server installation and rename the file On my system(linux obviously) i found it here and simply used mv to rename it: /opt/emby-server/system/dashboard-ui/modules/input # mv gamepadtokey.js gamepadtokey.bak Restart your server and restart your browser maybe clear cache of your browser too. All inputs from your joystick should be ignored from now on. Remember the steps because your next update will most likely install a new copy of the script. Maybe this helps the devs to implement an off-switch for us which simply disables this script.

nothing with instances limits or inotify in the log. I see lib scan was performed tonight and today after my manual start. no issues it's running smooth. it's just not auto updating / monitoring anymore. I have 4 libs and I can only say it's not working for one of them. I don't know the other 3, no new content

You're likely hitting inotify watches/instances limits - do you see any related errors in the log?

Well in native mode you can set everything you want. In addon-mode (which is the default and much better tested) the plugin configures critical settings automatically. -
hi I don't have enable real time monitoring anymore with this update (it's there, and checked, but it's not monitoring and updating) 4th time now I'm starting the task manually in the last 2 days. the recent docker update to 4850 is the only thing that has changed on my side. is this a possible explanation? some changes? bugs? anyone else? thanks!!

Question: If you change the startup screen option on the Shield app to the Login Screen does it still not show any other users for that server? I mean after connecting and logging in with the first user.
