Just found this thread while I was about to report a similar or maybe the same issue. Please let me know if this should be in a separate thread. I've been setting up a Shield TV Pro (2019), and have both Android applications on it. While testing with some videos, I accidentally/luckily selected "The Empire Strikes Back" in the 4K80 version. It is really choppy, like a very slow slide show. No other 4K remux/rip seems to exhibit this behaviour (even with way higher bitrate). Audio works. Also, chapter names are ignored, but that might be a different topic. Anyhow, the AndroidTV application doesn't even show video, it just gets stuck at one of the first frames and the audio keeps running. The regular Android application has been used to generate the log attached (a few seconds of the video being played). Also, the most current server log is attached. The file itself is fine. It is sitting on my server (TrueNAS SCALE running the official emby application), and the Shield is in the same subnet (so no routing involved, it's all on the switches, and they are all 1G Enterprise switches, and therefore of course no Wi-Fi, only LAN). It also plays fine on my Dune HD Pro Vision 4K Solo (note: this has been using the Dune's player as external player for emby). I want to replace the Dune with the Shield. Maybe some code udpate in modules/cardbuilder/cardbuilder.js This choice looks like it may be available for Videos view but is left out for Folders view? item.ArtistItems[0].Name Just a guess after a quick look.

issues with galaxy ultra s8 and s9, for at least 9 month now 1. no screen off, it stays on forever. time out doesnt work 2. overlay in player not hiding in 50% after keyboard or mouse activity 3. to get ridd of the overlay you need to touch the screen. impossible with mouse, only play pause with click (and you dont see the mouse - 4.) 4. mouse not visible 5. play progress not saved if in pause, you have to leave the player

That doesn't address the playback issue, however.

I think everyone with a interest in audiobooks would want emby to improve in that regard. I see ABS as a fantastic third party tool to organize audiobooks, the same as other media (tiny media manager/calibre).. ABS is great for matching the media (audible), from there you can edit the meta how you like , lookup chapters etc. and when your happy write that back to file tag wise. Lets hope the emby dev's will try to support this going forward.

This has come up before - would it not be a sensible idea to provide a different error message for the user in this scenerio ? Clearly saying Invalid user/password is not only incorrect, but would lead you down the path of it being an Authentication problem, when it is infact an Authorisation/Access issue.

Just tried to post a reply and for some reason it duplicated my original message?? I think my Zappiti is destined to the loft or ebay. I do have an old Synology DS213 j that ran on the DS video format. From what I remember it wouldn't load up one day, perhaps became corrupted from a power cut or being switched off at the mains. So, would emby be suitable on this? Is it easy to set up? And would UHD and 5.1 stream okay to tv over the network? Thank you

I'm not sure how helpful it is, but this file DirectPlays fine on my LG TV. Are you on the same network as the server, or are you playing remotely?

So, if I have 10 tracks under “favourites”, it still tries to fetch entire library (100k+ items) when I press play on one of those favourite tracks? It is insane, who implements things like that? I moved away from Plex, their android app thinks that my TV is an Phone and refuses to output multichannel audio to ARC or via TosLink. So going back to Plex is not an option either.

Thank you for your replies. My hardware is the zappiti one 4k hdr. I don't have a NAS, so looking at an alternative to the zappiti video app for a gallery and metadata experience. The licence route with emby is okay, if indeed it would function on my player? I've installed the emby server on my player but it opens up in the Chrome browser on my zappiti and isn't ideal. I've read about jellyfin and kodi but as a newbie, I'm not sure if they would work on my zappiti? Thanks again

This has been a problem since 2022, maybe even before that. It's still not resolved. I believe it's due to the size of the library. I have over 10K albums and i pretty much cannot play anything. One way i can get it to play is if line up an album or playlist on the phone and then press play once it's connected via carplay. But searching, browsing or playing via carplay produces the same results as you and many others. Having moved over from Plex where this works amazingly well. It's very disappointing considering this is a paid Emby premiere feature.
